Before anyone thinks this is me whining, it isn't.
I chose not to spend my minimal game-time on this event.

That being said, I have read so many dozens of people's reports that they spent hours on end doing this event and got little to no reward. This is not only a disappointment to them, but also to others that had a renewed hope when Jeff was announced as the new producer and sheer JOY when Mesanna was promoted.

For quite some time, we all had the feeling that the people in charge of UO didn't even PLAY UO, and now we have someone in charge that we see in game and actually has been a stellar communicator.

It is obvious that something went wrong with this latest event.

I do not believe that you can simply sell the rewards now, nor can you put in a "fix" for it.

After giving it some thought, I think the quest should simply be turned back on.

Give the people that have been working so hard credit for the number they turned in, and give a set number of cures that can be turned in for "X" reward.

This gives those that want to put in the time the opportunity to get the rewards and they know what they have to do to get it..
...and the ones that have put in HOURS of work already don't lose this valuable time either.

I am not as vocal in UHALL as some of the daily posters, but I assure you I have a deep love for Ultima Online and can clearly see that this single event has alienated a huge portion of the dwindling player base. Please consider this (or any other viable suggestion) and make this right.

(Right now my alliance is in a huge expansion to Siege, so we have all been training there which is why I didn't do the Cures in the first place... 'R.O.T.' - wow!)

    Signed,
    Lykor of Catskills

I agree. Systems like this should have a visual or numeric indication and known quantities. That's why the City Loyalty system bothers me so - I never know what helps me the most, how long I will take to get there, and in this case, even what I get for getting there.

Incidentally, just coming to Siege? Welcome to the party! I was also playing Catskills, and am quite happy with my move. I'll see you around!

For me, it isn't about finding a solution to this event. The event is over. The problem here is systemic -Town loyalty, sifting sand, making cures. It has gone from bad to worse and the dev team seems oblivious to that fact.

Who can blame them (the devs), we have a producer who can't find the time to communicate more than 140 characters at a time on a platform the majority of the player base doesn't use or read. This would be funny if there were an actual information center where any new or old player could go to for game updates/news and customer service/billing.
-The irony is that the bigger the joke gets, the less funny it becomes.

Agreed. Event is over - thank god. Turning it on again and changing the rules would make one part of the community happy and another part angry (e.g. the winners) - I think we have seen enough emotional discussions here. Just forget about this whole cure-issue and let these arms (modified or as [Replica]) drop in Doom, as a rare Slasher-Drop or elsewhere. There are many places in UO that would profit from some more attractive rewards. That would bring some life to certain spots...

Actually, if you re-read my proposal, the ones that have already turned in cures would get CREDIT for what they have turned in.. how could they be pissed off?

Then, if they introduced a published tiered system, we all could decide to do it or not...

If you aren't going to read my post then why bother replying to it?

Now and again some events are a blast and others a bust. for the mathematically inclined this was probably a blast .
Realistically you cannot expect every new item or event to be a home run. Given the fact that UO is 15 years old ,the real gift here is that we still have a team interested in inventing new things and implementing them .UO spent quite some time without any attention. I for one am grateful even though I agree with the poster and did not do the quest this time .That being said I do agree with the posters that the rewards did not equal the effort

And Jeff you need to get your butt off Twitter and over to the place the clients are ;where the game has been for 15 years ,I don't use Twittter . If you are truly into UO you don't Twitter it.

Sorry, but this is not a solution that would be fair, IMHO, not at this point where many players did not participate AT ALL to the Event (which means they turned in no cures) because they saw their unfortunately limited time to play the game as an impassable obstacle towards getting good rewards and so, simply did not get involved with the Event at all (why bother when they had little to no chance to compete ?).

To change the rules of the Event now and apply only to those who turned in some cures, albeit less than what would have earned them up to tier 4 on their shard, is too late for a whole lot of players who did not participate to this Event at all because of their limited time to play.

There is a better and fairer solution, IMHO, just do like it was decided for the +5 stats scroll and make these rewards obtainable in game through other means whether with other quests or drops. All players should have access to them regardless and only new ways to obtain them in the game like it is going to be for the +5 stats scroll will ensure this for everyone.

I am also against selling items which may affect PvP outcome for real money because not all players might be able to afford them but since the PvP is an important aspect of UO, the possibility to purchase items should not be a factor affecting PvP gameplay among players.

PvP items should only and always be obtainable through normal gameplay and never be exclusive or limited drop. I think that all players at all times should be able to find all items required to play competitively in PvP by simply playing the game (this is why PvP affecting items should never be a limited time availability, because they would affect casual, new or returning players who'd not be able to then be competitive in PvP).

That is how I see it, there are spawns in the game which are currently neglected by players and seldom used. Just make these new rewards drop at these spawns so that all players can have access to them and this will also have the added benefit to bring these now neglected spawns to a new life.......

Looks to me like a win-win situation, fix the problems arosen by this Event and bring neglected spawns to a new life.......

Says one of TWO people on Atlantic that got Tier 4, missing the point completely...

Try reading Stratics? In this instance, the sample is unusually representative. In fact, Atlantic is the only shard where two have been reported thus far.

Your number of cures must have been within single digits +/- of Pink Dragoness' 702. I believe it was Nimuaq who worked out the maths which indicate that Tier 4 is the top 5% or less.

I counted my arrests by using gate scrolls exclusively, even if the guard was a screen away.

Nobody asked for bracers to be dropped in their backpack. They just wanted a fitting reward for a hell of a lot of work. One or two individuals should not have affected the distribution curve like this, but the devs didn't bother to remember statistics' concept of an outlier.

I wish this whole event would just die already.
Please lets just move on to something new. Something that isn't a grind. Let's hopefully learn from this horrible quest mistake and have something new and exciting.
Hopefully something promotional that will include our 15th anny. It should be a very exciting time in Ultima Online, yet all we hear lately is how unhappy people are with the current events. Let's power-wash this crap away and start with a fresh new event that people can't wait to participate in.
Let's get some publicity for it. Let's ring some bells and toot some horns and get people excited.
I disagree with the "stellar communicator" part, unless that was said in sarcasm. It actually made me laugh.

Ultima Online should be on every gaming site's lips. Ultima Online having a 15th anniversary! Ultima Online plans to .... WHATEVER... to suck people in. Create a buzz. Let's see some real excitement from the team.

The sample size is not two, it's everyone who reported. You and Pink Dragoness are two points in the larger data set. If you're going to pretend to know statistical analysis, you might want to know what a sample size is.

At any rate, on GL several of us stood at the healer and asked people what they received and how many they turned in. Tier 1 started at 2 cures, Tier 2 started at 5, Tier 3 started at around 80, Tier 5 was 500, and there was only one bracer given. There were 5 people between 200 and 400, they all received Tier 3. On every other shard reporting, the bracers went to the single highest contributor. Atlantic appears to be the only shard with two people were near enough each other for the ridiculously narrow Tier 4 window.

In the other thread I asked if it was clear that a player was entering into a curved reward system if they felt inclined to join this and the answer was yes. Given that the end curve was a unknown number and it was implied that the top tier reward was highly limited I think that, while full of suck, the results are exactly as one should have expected them to be.

Yes it's borked and it's highly unlikely that we shall see any decent response from the team but this is the way the game has gone for the last year or longer. The lack of forsight and poor planning on this, the scrolls, factions and all other sorts of crap in the last while is a clear indication of what to expect of the direction the game has and is going. The biggest draw has been the event items that seem to drop every month or so and the most planning seems to have gone into them but not the actual game it's self.

I still pay for my three accounts but I sure as heck don't have a clue who I do such, smaller shards have died and even ATL is on life support it seems.

Funny, considering you aren't demonstrating that at all.

Edit: someone posted this link. Healer Quest Results | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online

Please kindly explain WTF was going on, and what kind of hallucinogens the devs have been taking. Thanks.
