did 2 tonight to see how they where.

first one i did was under a tree (new map)

second one i did was a old map that hadnt been decoded.

pulled out a bunch of low end stuff.

and got a ring and a braclet that both have 6 properties on them.
cant imbue either of them because they are over the 5 property limit.

but they look neat with 6 properties.
granted they are all really LOW properties.

Hmmmm, that does not sound as good news at all to me.....

I thought the new Maps did not have any location problem, that this was only a problem related to old, decoded Maps.

If also new Maps have spawn location problems this is not good at all.

And the magic items being junk (included the 6 properties with low intensities) this is going to be a MAJOR problem in a few weeks when the hype about the new items will fade away.

It is necessary that Treasure Chests yield at LEAST a few very good item per Map.
Probably high level Maps should yield more items with high intensity mods than lower level Maps, but all Maps should yield some.

Perhaps it could be 1 item per level that is granted 90% or better intensity in all mods.
So a level 1 map would have only 1 very good item and a level 6 Map would have 6.

    Just an idea.

But definately, there is the need to see Treasure Chests not as filled with junk as they have been and, apparently, still are..........

I personally am ok with weapons and armor loot from these chests. It sounds as there is a chance, albeit small, to get a gorgeous ring or bracelet with 6 high intensity mods. If all of the loot was near maxed then I think it would take away the adventuring necessary to find that perfect item to complement your suit. I think this is what the devs are trying to accomplish... to get the player base engaged and to complete lots of t-maps. Ultimately it is the hope of a great item that draws many to participate. Once their team of chars have what they need they will probably stop doing maps as these jewels have no durability.

I have only done two LvL 1s so far, but I got a 6-mod bracelet or ring off the second one. I think all the mods are probably around 30-35%. Also got a skeleton key, so even LvL 1s are worth doing I guess.

I'm fine with the loot as it is. The chance for one of the new artis is enough for me to keep doing t-maps. Great update, thanks devs!

    Time vs. reward vs. balance...

If I could choose between having to do a hundred level 6 t-maps to find a 6 mod bracelet with "kinda" the mods I want and "kinda" the intensities I desire, or buying imbuing ingredients from player vendors and spending 10 minutes imbuing myself a perfect 5 mod bracelet, I will guarantee you that I'd pick the second option.

I love t-hunting to death, but I'm not going to mess with UO's idea of "chance" :)

Right now people are out there testing the loot. So far a lot of people are claiming the mods on items are poor at the moment, or atleast too poor to be satisfactory. I myself am one of the people claiming the loot isn't living up to current gameplay status, and even pre-patch status...

No doubt the developers will have a discussion about our posts behind closed doors. It's very likely we will never hear anything regarding those discussions. I'm sure they'll have a good talk about the three things I mentioned above:

    Time
    - finding a t-map as loot
    - decoding and finding the location
    - digging it up and fighting the guardians
    - unlocking it
    - looting the chest and deal with more spawn

    vs.

    Reward
    - what item intensity justifies the time invested and the combat involved

    vs.

    Balance
    - if we reward this group of people with that reward, what will that do for the rest of the game's overall structure.

It's my personal opinion Imbuing is destroying PvM obtained loot. But that's my opinion. The developers have at some time decided that imbuing passed a similar model to the one I sketched, and put it online for everyone to try. The same has just happened to this new t-hunting model...

So, it's in, we're moving forward, we'll find out about the pro's and con's, we'll give the developers feedback, and then we'll have to wait and see what happens when they return from behind those closed doors :)

I am most interested in this -

Chance for Treasure Map Specific Artifacts (level 5+)

Anyone come across one of these? I would like to know more info like what is on the list as far as artifacts?

I might have a better chance getting a artie this way instead of beating renowns for a month and a half with no drop.

Has anyone tried Unraveling (120 Garg at Queen's Soulforge) the low intensity 6 mod items to see if Relic Frags result? If one can get RF's then the items are far from useless...

I tried this with a 120 gargoyle at the queen's forge with 2 pieces of jewelery and unfortunately they did not yield relic fragments. Even though they have 6 properties, I think the intensities were just too low. Highest property on one was 5 physical resist and the other was DCI 6. They can't be imbued either because they have 6 properties.

I guess that's the start to make random loot interesting again....we just need to find some with high properties on them ;)

My opinion ? This is going to last only as long as the new items will be, aheam, "new"......

After a few weeks that the "new" items will be largely introduced into the game they will no longer be perceived by players as new and, since the magic items (the "loot") from the Treasure Chests is perceived as "junk" because of the low modifiers (not even a few items have been reported as spawning with high modifiers...), the whole chest will again be seen as a "why bother" game activity.....

And we will be back to square one.......

I only see it as a matter of time, short or long that it will be.

The only exception to this being the Brittle items which will break upon usage and so will need a steady supply. But it also depends on how long they will last before breaking for good. And perhaps the Pardons and the Imbuing ingredients.

But who knows if they will be reasons good enough to justify the effort to dig up Maps on a constant basis.

So basically these 6 properties items are useless and worthless ?

They are not worth wearing them and neither they are good for unravelling ?

Why have they been designed and do they exist in the first place, then ?

    I am kinda confused.....

we did a bunch of level 6's last nite (10). i brought my crafter in and hauled the junk off to the queens forge where i have loyalty and unraveled everything.

I got 1 relic frag off a marty, a fair amount of essence and a ton of residue.

Confirmed. I hadn't tried imbuing them yet, but due to the 6 mods, you can't "up" one of the 6 mods that are already on the item, so as long as they keep spawning with low mods, they have no real use at the moment...

We've only got 2 days of data so far. I suspect there will be some nice 6 mod jewels eventually that will become highly valued... It will just take many chances with the RNG. It is difficult to speculate how many t-maps will be done per day 2 months or a year from now.

If I remember correctly, while this publish was on test...you were one of those *pioneering* for a nerf. Next time be careful what you wish for...mmk?

I'm reworking carto and lockpicking on my mapper now.. but can anyone confirm that they've seen a 6 mod ring with all properties above 80% intensity?

I have quite a few level 6 maps but would rather not waste my time on them if the loot tables will get a bump.

Actually, the only thing that might resemble to a nerf that I was asking for was the reduction of the drop rate for the Pardons (and for good reasons, IMHO).

Other than this, I was asking for actually improving the chest loot by adding ML ingredients and improving the quality of the magic items (i.e. at least a few items per chest with high modifiers).

    Hardly a nerf, IMHO.

I guess you and I have a differing view of what a nerf is.

FYI...when you cry about one thing...normally SEVERAL things end up being affected.

I took every item from the first 10 level 6 maps I did and unraveled it. That is not counting the marties and new items. I ended up with like 18 relic frags, 330 essence, and at least 2k of residue. On a side note I was looting items from the guardians also, my gut feeling is at least 1/2 those relic frag came from the guardian loot. The money items so far are the pardons, alacraity scrolls, sots, recipes, vines. I have gotten 2 scrappers recipes already.

IMO, with the 6-property items, what would really make them worth it is if the 6th property could be independent of the other 5.

In other words, if they would make it to where the 6th property could create double slayer weapons, or jewelry with two different skills from the same skill group. Only if the identical property was rolled (same skill twice, for example), would the 6th property be rerolled - or maybe even stacked (creating a 5 property item that would be above the norm and still modifiable with imbuing). These would STILL be rare enough to be desirable, while not flooding the market with stuff.

Doing so would actually give more value, in some aspects.

Would the fact that we're getting half the maps in un-diggable locations and Mining being practically mandatory after 8 years of not needing it, fall under this?

I don't think any of us asked for those, regardless of our stance on popps' ideas - after all, even those people who didn't use T-map libraries before are having extreme difficulty finding the new maps - at least without serious damage to their template in order to add mining (cart soulstoners were bad enough - now this).

You don't need mining ... I'm getting by with 51 ;D ... mining sure makes it easier though.

There are so many threads on T Maps here, but was wondering, I just got a LVL 1 map in a LVL 1 chest. Isn't it supposed to give a LvL 2?
