Ive been driving thru these forums and have done a few "search"es but cant seem to find discusions on "special moves" besides moving over to the uo guide and seeing the definitions of how they were intended to work. So im asking for help not only for me but for others that return to UO.

The real question is what, In your experience, is the best special move/combo for PVP/PVM?

I have a Parry swordsmen that I just dropped chiv off of for a high posion skill, useing a cleaver, I manage to hit the DP/ Bleed combo which as I am really not good PVP allows me an opportunity to heal and attack as the target worries about the posion. I like to the past few times switch over to a weapon with either a double attack or a penetrate armor for the 3rd hit. at this point Im either chaseing the target to the hills, or running myself from their quick reaction force that just showed up to blow me out of the water, either way someone is running, ( mostly it's the later).

Now Like I said Im not good at the PVP so Im wondering if Im messing up by this combo, like is there another attack I should replace one of the others with or change the order in which they are used or something like that. I also have a fencer and an archer so I wasw wondering about their attacks too.

also If your a good PVPer what is the best way to defend from these attacks, Ive noticed in some of my engagements with the "enemy" that some of them hit me for more than 3/4 hp in the first seconds and Im not sure what it was they did.

PvM: Feint is pretty much the only useful spell as you primarily use bushido moves.

PvP: Many specials are important in different contexts. It all boils down to how many weapons you can carry and what type of template you play. You have to be more specific with what type of character you're trying to make and what you're fighting instead of generalizing statements. PvP is far too dynamic to boil down to just a few specials.

I disagree with some of this. Feint is pretty nice but stuff like double strike is nice when you have mana/life leech on your weap in PvM.

As for the PvP side, I generally try to stick to 2 weaps in the field since you can immediately switch between them. Poison/Bleed is a good start then switch to AI/concs for the big damage. If you had bushido you could go bokuto for the para/Nerve Strike which is pretty popular on Altlantic.

  4. This is partially incorrect. While Feint is a nice special, Whirlwind is even more useful in PvM. Aside from that, Disarm works wonders against quite a few creatures, including the Generals and such in the current invasion, and Armor Ignore, Double Strike and Bleed also are good ones to use.

I agree here with Connor. Whirlwind is nice for a bushido setup. Specials I use are armor ignore, double strike, bleed, and disarm.

Bleed is nice to finish a mob off...depends on the mob of course. Armor ignore and double strike are nice to use to stack up damage on a mob.

PvP I agree with Chaosy. No situation is ever the same...but in my opinion even just 2 weapons are predictable.

My favorite is having a bow equipped and then macroing in a kryss or any other weapon. Since...their first assumption is that I'm an archer :D

I see that there are different situations for each, Has anyone done a damage survey to see which of the speacials are more powerfull ? I have seen a bunch of posts about Conc so I was guessing that it is the most powerfull or perhaps armor ignore, but Im not sure. It seems that I need to drop some archery on my char because when I get someone way down on the HP's they take off like a bat outa ... well you know. But I dont have any bush on this guy. I just dropped chiv so I could inflict a top posion, so hes got the parry although I dont know how well thats working out, and the tact and anat for bonus, hes got the swords of course some and some heal so as u can see not any room for those elite ( sorry couldnt figure out how L33T means "elite") skills besides just a warrior.

You might be trying to do too much with your template. If your seriously into pvp you need to 120 as many skills as possible, especially the main ones.

From what you've described about a pvp encounter, a weapon with paralyze would probably be what your looking for.

What I try for in pvp is bleed, AI, infectious strike, armor ignore, and disarm. A dexxer can't kill you if his weapon is sitting in his backpack! Infectious strike is still useful even if you don't do top poison. It can slow healing with bandies or force your opponent to chug a potion, which gives him something else to be thinking about. I try for disarm first, remember this drops there defensive skill because warriors don't carry wrestling, bleed, poison, then AI until dead or he runs away.

Macing as a weapon skill brings a whole new special into play. Mace weapons drain stamina away faster then any other weapon type. This makes it harder for your target to run away, run through something, and lowers his swing speed as his stamina drops. You can get all the above mentioned specials except for infectious strike on a mace weapon.

Well, just goes to show how much I PvM (which is zero) :p

Honestly, I've never used any special other than feint since if I do PvM it's usually only against one boss type char. I never encounter a situation where I need whirlwind (momentum strike works fine for me). AI is good though (forgot about that in PvM). I've never considered bleed/disarm/double strike for PvM either.

I carry at least 2 weapons for PvP on each char I play. In general, you need a disrupting type weapon and a hard hitting weapon. The hard hitters are easy, since people just go for AI or concussion. Disrupting depends on the situation. Against some people you need mortal to prevent their healing, bleed to prevent casting/bandages, infectious is good against people who don't carry cure potions (though everyone pretty much does), disarm is good against bushido evade spammers, paralyze for runners and to set up a dismount, etc etc. It all depends on your setup and situation.

  9. I can think of 2 situations offhand that I always use a Radiant Scimitar for it's whirlwind. There are more of course, but these 2 stick out.

First would be in Doom against DF's while you have Rotting Corpses and Lich Lords, along with all of the other minor undead he summons. Spam Whirlwind and you can not only continue beating on the DF, but you're also killing everything else around you and leeching from them at the same time, which keeps you at max Stam, Mana, and HP's constantly.

The second would be in the Citadel while going after the red key for Travesty. Again, just spam whirlwind until everything is dead, then loot the key from the mob that drops it.

As I said, there are many more situations that whirlwind is good for, but these 2 are the most common.

I can't really speak for others, but having a nice slayer weapon and then armor ignoring the mob with Enemy of One on is...nice.

It will depend...as will other good damage based moves, on your base damage with weapon in hand. Double strike is another nice move.

Armor ignore though is just used to bypass a mobs physical reistance so say if it is a lightly armored mob, you might as well just use another move...but meh, I still like armor ignore a lot.

Most of my pvm experience is with a mage or archer.

From my experience using bushido and weapons specials I've found that honor and lightning strike does much more damage then a weapons special. The only exception I saw was double strike when both strikes went off. Even then when one of the strikes missed I was doing less damage then when I was just spamming lightning strike.

Well yeah that's a good point. He was talking about being a swordsman so I was just thinking in the acute spectrum of weapon specials. In terms of lightning strike though. double shot is it?...I think so, anyways double shot is a pretty good move with using lightning strike since you're talking archery.

Honor helps a lot though yeah with damage boosting so I know what you mean. That pretty much reigns supreme outside of just the "normal" special moves.
