ive got a casting sampire, im running anat, ss.. ss i pretty much want to stay on for 70% leeches.

i'm entertaining the thought of stoning anat for sw. the #1 annoyance to me when i'm doing something gnarly is the death and then run back. can take a while when you're in the middle of nowhere. the self res would be super useful. i have sacrafice as well.

attune would be a great little shield, gift of renewal for a little extra healing..

pixies might be good for if you get attacked in fel. immolate might add a little damage (though i dont know how much, never tried it), and essence of wind would hopefully pop stealthers/interrupt & slow casters

what do you guys think of sw on a sampire?

The question is would you have enough mana and mana regen to even make it useful. You talk about fel but Im assuming you have no magic resist. Any mage can mana vamp you and then what? For fel I dont think it would work...but tram maybe. As long as you keep leeching mana back it might prove useful. If you manage to get it done, let me know how it goes.

You may be approaching the limitation of your gear & skills. If your a caster sampire you probable have HPI, SI, LRC, etc. You`ll be needing to add LMC, MI, & MR. Its possable, but your going to end up with a medicore sampire.

I use JOAT weaving. Right before I fight a harder mob, I'll cast gift of renewal and attunement.

The OP mentioned that he was a caster sampire, which implies that he has spirit speak on his template and uses necro spells. These spells require either regs or lrc.

I do have those abilities but frankly for 90% of things I seem to not need them. Very disconcerting as I thought this would be a completely uber build, able to do anything.

I use curse weapon the most out of all the necro spells, but again, if your weapon, suit, and understanding of melee is solid, like I said I don't seem to need it 90% of the time.

That means its going to waste the rest.

Even in a fight against Narvey, using a 100% daisho, when I use corpse skin on him, I don't see gigantic jumps in damage.

So far it doesn't seem worth the "permanent" investment. But I may not yet be playing him to his potential. I will keep evaluating.

It may be that its better to just have 100SS as an "option"

Frankly though I don't know what I would put on my template if I decided to 86 GM spirit speak. It'd either be back to healing, add parry so I have evade as an option... or who knows

I need to do more bosses so I can gain a better understanding. Not sure what boss should be next. I just hate the ones where you key for hours and then you can fail and have to start again. Super dumb. I prefer the ones where you can easily go there and attack and see how it goes. Call me impatient....

  9. Impatient... (hehe)

I think prevention is better than cure, and if you're dying on a sampire you should address that rather than look for additional ways to res afterwards.

Gift Of Life always seemed pretty pointless to me anyway, seeing as you res where you just died, you'll probably just die again.

You can use Attunement/Renewal with JOAT if you're human.

I would have thought that Wither would be pretty useful on a sampire for level 1 & 2 spawn. Whirlwind/Hit Area is a smaller radius.

Gift of Life can only rezz you in place ,so its useless most of the time.
Usual death cause for my sampire was the bad rng combo , got hit ,not leeching stam, got another hit, then misses then dead. Solution, bump stam leech to 50, bump hci, dci. Curse weapon does not really help if you dont swing.

Only use i see for spirit speak on sampire is for using wraith form and the resulting mana leech. Named changelings will hate you for this, really. Especially if they copy your form and you have a trinket equipped. Free slayer.
Some other observations i did make.
    1.
With imbuing and ssi items, tessen ( bokuto also, but didnt try ) did become some sort of "nothing can kill me" weapon if you run wraith form, at least against single mobs. At 35 ssi, you need exactly zero stamina to swing them at max. With enough spirit speak, its no problem to keep feint, consecrate and curse weapon going. Just max out hci and adjust tactics, anatomy and lmc.
    2.
The other thing is, people usually laugh at these 2.25 sec weapons with Double strike, like Double Bladed Staff, Quarter Staff , Dual Pointed Spear and Glass Staff.
You can do 2 things with them as wammy.
First, get 5 ssi from items and use them with as much as possible life, stam, mana leech. Chain Double Strike. Nearly evrything in sa can be beaten without using curse weapon at all, and you will deal insane damage with the right setup. Of course no bosses/renowned/ganks ,but fire demons ,void demon bosses or nipo go down very fast. Saves a lot of karma, perhaps main reason for this.
Second, with 35 ssi these weapons need only 30 stam for max speed.Combined with high stam leech, curse weapon and the mana leech from wraith you deal high damage and get very hard to kill.

Wither also hits monsters on ledges on a different level of the Z axis.

I use Wither to hit stuff on ledges. and maybe to take out slimes so they dont ruin my weaps. other then that, whirlwind, hit area, or momentum strike is awesome.

Run out of mana fast doing wither unless in wraith or also against mana-less creatures though so usually I'll get a ton of spawn mad at me, run to a ledge, and alternate between wither and then a whirlwind to recharge my mana. very handy trick

I always found that when you have gift of life on and you die, there is about 1 split second in which you can run, as a ghost, about half to a full screen away if you are prepared for it. And then I can res away from what killed me
