OMG, I just saw the details of this event on uoguide.com , damn that I missed this, I have a ton of these items just lying around and taking up loads of space :(

Hey devs, can't you reenable that event? Its not like it hurts anyone to have it enabled...maybe update it to a Spring Cleaning 2010 or something.

If they do turn this event back on, FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST DON'T MAKE US CLICK 1564411 TIMES TO TURN IN SOMETHING!

  3. Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

They've already said they wouldn't be turning it back on, as they shouldn't. That's an event that needs to happen every half decade or so, not every other year.

Why exactly shouldn't they? Why should people be punished simply because they just happened to miss that event, but has otherwise paid for every account dutifully for some 12 years now???

Is it your fault for not having played, or theirs?

It ran for 5 months, If someone doesn't play during that period it isn't EA's fault.

Exactly! This here pack rat was able to score big time! Because I never quit playing the game I love.

Though I wouldn't oppose them doing a similar event ever 3 or 4 years.

    Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

I never said it was their fault. I was asking them to reinstate it. Its not like I had quit and wasn't paying. Paid for all 10 accounts continuously all the time. I just took a break as is needed sometimes, especially since I had noone to play with anymore. Now I might have someone to play with again, so would really like a way to get something useful out of all this massive horde of reward items.

I hear there are people with "vendors" who "sell" things in "Luna"

  11. Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

Not everything introduced into the game over the past 13 years needs to be readily avaialble to everyone that comes along after the fact. If you weren't around, then you do like everyone else does that wasn't playing when any event took place, and you buy what you want. The clean up was a special deal that took years of many of us asking for one to get it. Even if they did do another one soon, it should be different items, not the same ones.

Additionally, you missing the event isn't you being "punished". You simply missed out on the event because you weren't playing. The devs didn't get together as a group and say "let's punish everyone that wasn't playing and not keep the event going indefinitely". There was a beginning and an end to the event, and you missed both of them. It's simple as that.

    Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

Why are you so incredibly selfish that you want to hoard things for yourself?

And btw, I was also part in fighting for getting an event such as this up and running, it just started not long after I took a break...and its stupid to say that after 10 years of playing you can't take a break.

Sounds more like you're one of those people who are making money off this buy selling it for RL cash or something, thats usually the reason why people oppose these things.

  13. Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

I'm not the one being selfish. You're the one that decided to take the break, and are now blaming everyone else for punishing you because you made that decision and now found out that you missed out on something you didn't want to. Man up and own up to the fact that you're the one at fault, not anyone else.

Then I guess this will teach you to keep in touch with what's going on in UO the next time you take a break so you don't miss out on something you'd regret missing later.

Nope, not at all, but then, I'm not the one blaming everyone else for my own decisions.

    Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

Do you have a problem reading? Nowhere have I blamed anyone else for this. Again I asked the devs to consider reenabling this event or making a similar.

You really do not understand the concept of taking a break, do you?

Neither am I, but I guess we can conclude you are one of those players.

I wouldn't have said anything if that was all he did.

This sentence is what made me reply earlier:

If you go to a store and discover they were selling 2 TVs for the price of one, And they had been doing it for 5 months, Would you say you were punished because you didn't happen to go to that store during the 5 month offer? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Asking for something is one thing. Throwing a fit because others posted an opposing view is another. I thought the request was fairly reasonable, but complaining about opposing views was not.

However, as I missed the spring cleaning event that yielded Phoenix Armor, can we turn that on again?

Why exactly should they re-instate it??

So some people missed it...big deal!

I miss countless events with items i would like to have received...i mean i missed the SL event that gave the clannins spell book, maybe they should re-instate that event??

Or even the final battle with the shadowlords...i missed that, so can that be re-instated too.

hmmm, any more i can think of? not right now.

You should get the point though. It was a scheduled EVENT not a permanent turn in [TOT permanent turn in and was re-instated for a brief period]

Guess what, i missed that too!

You dont play the game you miss events...END

Except you don't pay a monthly fee for a store (2 years of 10 accounts = 2*12*10*13 = 3120 dollars), and considering I didn't use their server bandwith during this time, its definetly not anything wrong with asking them this.

To uhm...lets see...allow people to have fun and actually want to pay and play for this game?

    Why exactly NOT re-instate it?

    Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

Wrong. You took a break. Your choice. As a result you missed an event and now want to "make it up". It doesn't work that way. I missed ToT1 because I didn't play the game...what did I do? Bought what I wanted with gold that I worked for in game. I get ssssooooo tired of people whining that they should get something they missed out on because they weren't playing as a result of a choice. Reminds me of all the people who want Dread Warhorses to spawn again because they didn't get one....I died a LOT during that event, but got 17 of those suckers, ALL but two of which I gave to friends and guildies.....if I would have kept them I'd be rich, but I (and most folks) don't look at it for that purpose. So I'll tell you what I tell the warhorse wanters.....BUY IT!

  22. Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

I guess you already forgot about this little snippet-

So yeah, you're blaming others for "punishing" you for taking a break and missing out on an event that took place when you took your voluntary break.

I understand it quite well, which is why I've never come here to the boards to blame others for punishing me because I missed out on the blackrock turn in that gave val hammers as one of the rewards. Keeping track of what's going on is also not playing, so you're still on a break, just keeping informed.

You can conclude that, but you'd be wrong, and you'd still be the one blaming others.:gee:

I cant actually comment on what i think of your whinning on the boards. id end up with an infraction.

You have given no reason why an event should be re-instated.

People pay and play and have fun regardless. There are EM events now which i would personally say are far more fun than farming arties to turn in.

People PAYED and PLAYED and ENJOYED there time playing this event when it was here and they have been REWARDED for that. Why should there commitment be PUNISHED by people moaning because they missed an event?

You wherent there, the only one who punished you...is you.

    Re: Spring Cleaning 2008

Again lrn2read. Saying its punishing players is *NOT* and I repeat *NOT* blaming anyone.

You're not on a break if you're still reading every bit of information that comes out about the game. Not to mention it wouldn't have helped.

And no, you do not understand the concept. In short, there would be nothing wrong with even redoing the blackrock event (if storywise and balancewise feasible), why keep shoveling new events out when past events can be just as fun sometimes.

Then go to OT and post it.

Anyway, nothing has changed, still destructive players in the game and your kind are far worse than any scripter.

LOL i noticed twice now you have ignored the bit of my post showing how ridiculous your idea is...now i shal leave in the knowledge that you are severely lacking in ability to argue reasonably...or even affectively.

Sorry you missed the 5 month event and didn't get to turn in your stuff for other stuff. Perhaps they will turn it back on exactly as it was and you will be able to profit from it. Perhaps they won't.

Either way, you are not "owed" anything from the devs.

You aren't being punished, and neither is anyone else. You made a choice, and that choice had consequences. Live with it and quit your whining. The request was fine, but now you're just being lame.

I'm not gonna say the -same- event should be turned on, but a similar one.

Dear god, look at all the Xmas stuff, valentine candies (24 candies ina box???? really?) and other stuff people have collected in the last 2 years. Or make them part of some sort of collection (Museum? LIbrary? Something) to turn in for points.
