Stacking Undead Slayers?

Discussion in 'UHall' started by Fink, Dec 1, 2009.

If you're using an undead slayer talisman, does it make any difference to use an undead slayer weapon also? I'm wondering if the slayers stack. And yes, I'm hunting undead. :lick:

I'd run out and test it myself but I don't have the weapon yet; I plan to imbue one.

*edit* I should point out it's definitely an undead slayer, not killer, talisman.

I tested it a while back, i believe the answer is "no."

Note: You can stack Undead and Mage-slayer when hunting Liches and such.

    Slayer Page
Not entirely comprehensive (but what's written is tested) and missing SA creatures.

Where are you getting those numbers? They're not accurate at all...

    super slayers do 2x damage
    specific slayers do 3x damage
same type slayer undead & undead dont stack
    3x damage is the max

Last i read it was 2.5x damage... not that it makes a ton of difference.

a lot of guildies have asked me about this, and the answer is this..

In PVM you are capped at 300% damage.
(Conscerate Weapon and Lightning Strike Criticals do not apply here)

[Conscerate hit the targets lowest resist, and Lightning strike Crits are Direct Damage]

    You can get..

100% Damage from DI on items.

100% From Slayer on Weapon (or 200% with new change to slayers such as dragon, blood elemental slayer, etc. Slayers that ARE NOT super slayers.)

100% From a Talisman (Undead slayer tally, or 100% killer on tally)

    100% From Enemy Of One.

So where people get mixed up is, they will get Undead slayer weapon, undead slayer tally, enemy of one, and 100% damage with weapons, and not do more damage. As stated above, this is CLEARLY 400%. You can not bypass the 300% cap. Period.

    Hope this helps.

When did this change? I've always thought (perhaps mistakenly) that the slayers did the same damage but the superslayers just had a wider range of creatures that it would affect.

The Stygian Abyss expansion changed it, apparently with the deliberate and specific intent of making the lesser slayers useful.

there are 3 different types of damage increase,
1st u have ur base damage this is your weapon damage plus damage increase stuff.
for example ur bonuses from str, anatomy, tactics, lumberjacking and ur damage increase bonus from items(ex. weapons, ring, bracelets, talis, ect).
ur damage increase from items is capped at 100% max
so to get ur total base damage u would multiply ur weap damage by total of the damage increase stuff.
    ex. 10-12 weap damage
    anatomy damage increase 15%
    tactics damage increase 50%
    str damage increase 35%
    item based damage increase 100%(max)
so ur total damage increase is 200%
so when multipled by weap damage ur damage inrease is 20-24
add to weap damage to get ur base damage which would equal
    30-36 total base damage

now u would adjust by ur 2nd type of damage increase, call it the damage multiplier. these would include slayer weaps, EOE, sammy honor bonus and r capped at 3x
    super slayers r 2x
    specific slayers r 3x
    EOE is 1.5x
sammy honor is.2x per 10% of perfection or 2x at 100% perfection
( oops thats wrong its 1+[.1x per 10%])
so if ur base dmage is 30-36(from above) and using a super slayer ur damage would be 60-72 (your min/max multiplied by 2 ergo 2x)
if using a specific slayer against appropriate mob ur damage would be 3x(max) or 90-108

next would be ur damage modifier(i believe this is only available on quivers, and is can only be found as 10% and only works with bows). so saying ur base damage so far is 30-36 and ur using a super slayer it then would be 60 -72 and then u r using a quiver with 10% damage modifier so u would multiply ur min/max damage(60-72) by 1.1(110%) and would get 66-80( rounded it up)

Wow.. this slayer business is so much more involved than I imagined. Thank you everyone for the replies. This raises another question:

Given a specific slayer is now better than a generic slayer for a specific target, would that mean Earth Elemental Slayer is better against Ore Elementals than an Elemental Slayer? I'm about to make a bow for my miner.

    Slayer bonus
Simliar in function to the Weapons slayers. These slay previously overlooked group (and in some cases, allows double slayer bonus{weapon/talisman}, like fire elemental, ice elemental). Will never spawn with the Killer bonus. Types are: Bovine, Bat, Beetle, Bird, Bear, Flame, Ice, Mage, & Vermin slayers : 100% additional damage to monsters. (Note only melee weapon damage and archery componded. Magic damage does not apply. Capped at 300% DI. Talisman slayer damage & weapon slayer damage do stack.

    Found at uoforums.com... google it.

    From uoguide.... Killers
Killer bonuses increase the damage dealt to a particular type of creature, and are found in the range of 1-100%. Killer damage property DOES stack with Slayer damage, subject to the Damage Increase cap of 300%.

And i do remember in a FoF long time ago that a dev member states talismans and slayer weps do stack damage but wont exceed the 300%.

Take the Blackthorns kryss, Base damage of 10-12 pts. Has 50 DI, and if you use the Undead slayer kryss, add another 100%. that is 30-36 base damage. You take the base damage of 10-12, add the weapon +50% damage that is applied to anything you hit with it. Takes damage from 10-12 to 15-18. Add the 100% to that for it being a slayer wep, and you are doubling the damage. So 30-36 Damage.

At this point using the undead talisman is pointless, because 30-36 is already 300% of the base damage of 10-12. It was specifically stated that Talismans will stack with spellbooks and weapons. But for you to take advantage of that it would have to be a slayer weapon with less than 50% DI. And even then the bump is minimal unless the wep has no DI.

take a undead slayer kryss with 0 DI. Base damage would be 10-12. Double for the slayer property of the weapon. Now damage is 20-24. Add the 100 % from the talisman and it is 30-36 damage. Which is capped at the 300%.

and undead slayer kryss with 25 di, would give you 12.5-16, double to 25-32 for the weapon slayer property, and you would only get 4-5 bump by using the talisman to take you to the cap of 30-36, 300% of base damage.

Then again, I havent been to bed yet, and I might be mistaken about where they apply the cap, is it 300% of base damage, which i believe is the case, or 300% of the base damage plus the DI of the wep itself?

the tali killer bonus and slayer properties would be considered as damage multipliers which is caped at 3x(see previous post), as far as base damage i know of no cap except the 100% damage increase from items(weap, jewls, talis, ect) also it was posted by the devs some time ago that the same type slayers do not stack (undead & undead)

You forgot to figure in Str bonus, Tactics Bonus and Anatomy Bonus. Skill bonuses are uncapped and the damage increase increases *those* damages by a percent, not merely the base weapon damage.

Thank you Galen. It is generally good when they make less useful items more useful.

I dont believe theres a slayer mod property for lesser undead, however...

It's either undead slayer, or it doesn't work against any undead.

Although I do have an ancient lich killer talisman somewhere...

Be careful with this, though. If you shoot at a copper or a valorite elemental you could wind up killing yourself from the reflected damage.

Thanks for the warning. I'll approach those with caution. :thumbup1:

In any case, I think my miner's defenses will be better than his damage output.
