    Hi everyone,
you can read my short introduction here -> http://stratics.com/community/threads/returning-player-after-8-years.314002/ <-

As title says, I decided to starting from scratch (my account has been sold a few years a go :°°° ) and I'm looking for a guild to enjoy from the beginning UO as I used to!

I'm more PvM oriented, but I won't dislike some PvP Action as well in a later future or survive at champs spawn :). I like some RP elements as well.

I decided to play on Atlantic because the shard I used to play (Europa) is pretty empty..therefore it would be nice to find a guild with members from all around the world. I'm on GMT+1 (Switzerland).

Thanks and see you soon in-game!

    Kerkyon

We have an active community built up around Trinsic city, mostly PvM. Website, forums, vent, regular hunts, and help with templates/equipment.

Check us out at www.cityoftrinsic.com or ICQ me at 78409004.

    Welcome home!

    Hi again,
after a few days wandering around with my friends (a few vets who started over again and a few Newcomers), I sadly had to admit UO has changed too much :(
Not talking about the community - it's still the best of any other MMO, everyone so helpfull and Kind.
But nowdays starting as new Player, is far from being what UO used to be when I was playing it.
The main Problem is the lack of the new Players. I remember the strong interaction at WBB or Heaven - People shouting what they were selling, Tamers selling horses or trained Mounts, Tailors and Blacksmiths offering repair Services, People gating at own Shops, People telling stories or asking for People to escort them in dangerous places and such.
The economy is really too much inflated. Yes of course you can "buy" a few millions, macro your skills and enjoy a very rich MMO experience playing in guilds, RP or else, this without doubt.
But I miss the feeling of going to dig t-chests and carefully check every items, hoping to find an amazing item to sell, or spend days in dungeon doom to get an artifact.
The overitemization is the second main Problem for the new Players. Any item you will find, there is no hope to sell it "as is". Crafting has became definitely complex and interesting, and I understand this way the only way to balance the artifacts and other "overpowered" items. Now with all those craftable artifacts and imbuing, as I said the emotions of hunting or grind PvM to find Special items faded off.

Therefore I decided to give up, and live with my old, happy memories. If I still had my original account and didn't quit, I'm sure I would be still playing and enjoying UO, but now it's too late.
I put my faith in Shoud of the Avatar, and see if Lord British will be able to create a similar Feeling.

Thank you anyway for your time and kindness, and Keep enjoying UO :)

I think a lot of what you are looking for still exists - but it is much more guild-centric now than in ages past. Find a good guild and you will do well. As for inflation - yes - things are expensive - but a large part of that is because of how easy gold can be to get now-a-days. Getting suited up is also relatively easy with the shame-loot, etc. I'd not try to tackle it alone on a newer character, but with a guild it can be relatively easy. I do hope you'll reconsider and make some new friends who can provide the backup you need.

Kerkyon, I'm not sure if you are still reading this thread, but I think you may be happy to hear that you are mistaken in your first evaluation of the new UO. :)

As Tazar said, it still has everything you mentioned you wish it had, just not in the same places you remember them being.

The community interaction is as lively as it ever was. We don't hear people pining for the good old days much anymore, because things are as active as they were back then. Well, as long as you are on Atlantic.

Crafting has become much more complex, but that's a good thing if you are crafter because now if you put the effort into learning your trade deeper, the quality of your goods will reflect that knowledge, and your skills will be a rare commodity on the shard.

Hunted loot is also a necessity. The best equipment sets for each of the templates are always a combination of hunted artifacts, and crafted pieces.

And then there are the improvements on what was. A good example is fishing. Once a dead-end skill with a single source of mediocre income, it has now become a viable profession. I know this because it's my main source of gold. I run a shop that sells fishing products exclusively and I am still able to keep up with most of the other cash cow professions.

I think you may find you are stopping at the lobby, saying "This isn't what I remember," and leaving before exploring any of the other rooms or floors. It's all still here, but it is a new game. So jump back in, and explore a wee bit further. :thumbup1:

^__^ It's late and I should sleep anytime soon, but after reading all yours encouraging Messages, for sure I should consider again my decisions.
In the past days I tried to fullfill my nostalgia jumping on some free shards. I tried UO:Reinassance and I've found a nice community, but still the main Locations pretty empty.
UOForever still has the WBB Spammed with vendors and gates to Shops, and many trades between new Players as well.
But there is always the doubt of what it will happen in the future on non official Servers..other than the possible hack/cheats.
I always preferred to Play on official Servers.
Yep, I'm on Atlantic QMSoar :) And what you said is giving me hopes, if t-hunting is still something profitable and fun, I should definitely try to adapt to the "new UO", especially now that new future plans for UO has been announced.
Ah, so difficult to find a link between the past and the present heeh.

Yep, T-hunting is indeed a good profession and profitable, and maps are easy to come by on the market or through hunting particular mobs.

A lot of things are overlooked with regards to treasure chests loot. Be sure to research what everything in those chests can be used for, and what their value on the open market is. You will find there is little left to waste, even the worst magical junk can be unraveled for materials that can be sold or used in your own crafted items. You will also find the multi-million gold items from time to time.

And if you enjoy the adventurous Indie Jones style of play, check out pirate hunting, or even piracy itself. It offers comparable loot, and the same template you'll use to solo top level maps will be suitable for that field.

If you ever need a hunting buddy, look me up.
