Stat stones [like solestones]

    Just an idea they could introduce as a reward or vet or something.

    So many time i, for instance have to stone something like inscription onto my mage with the highest magery and mana pool, or lumberjacking onto my warrior with the most strength etc.

    Or sell them for $

    Would be a cool usefull item "stat stones" :)

    Thoughts?

    I don't think that's a bad idea at all. I run into that problem all the time myself.

    i like it.. it would be nice to switch around temps that need high dex or int easier.
    its not like it costs a lot to raise the stats, so i dont see a problem taking it off one char and putting on another.

    Problem with the ideas thrown at UOHall forum... 99.9% arent implemented. There was only 1 player idea that was implemented (carpets) and, sadly, the guy that posted about that always make sure everyone know it was his idea. That not good for the devs, they want to show everyone that they can think on original ideas and not steal or copy ideas from players.
    So, please, for the next good idea just use the feedback page and wait.

    How odd how favouring or disfavouring a given idea to enhance Ultima Online may change over time.....

    When I posted about soulstones for stats last january, (http://vboards.stratics.com/uhall/232982-soulstones-stats.html) , the proposal was not exactly met with enthusiasm.......

    I still think that Soulstones for Stats would be a nice addition to the game....

    Personally, I think that what matters most is the enjoyability and playability of Ultima Online. I want to play a game that is fun to play and not frustrating and I happen to think that Soulstones for stats would effectively make the game more fun and less frustrating.

    I mean, different templates need different assortment of stats. A mage needs different stats than a melee dexer, for example, and so forth.

    Sure, stats can be adjusted through usage or one can have characters designated for given skills swapping, such as one that does mage stuff, one that does melee dexer stuff and blah blah.

    But if Soulstones for stats were available, then players could swap stats along with skills as needed depending on what template they may want to play at that given moment.

    I don't like this idea. It would make it even easier to self sustain your own character base. We used to have 5 characters. Now we have 6 or 7. With soulstones we have even more skills that can be flopped back and forth freely. I don't like the idea of the existing soulstones, either. All they did, and also the 2 extra character slots, was make cooperation and trading between players more uncommon. That's bad in my opinion.

    Personally, I think that stats Soulstones go in pair with skills Soulstones.

    I mean, once players have been given the ability of swapping skills through the use of skill Soulstones, and the game handles stats for different skills, differently, then it became automatic, to my opinion, that with players being able to swap the most varied skills on their template, they would also need to modify the character's stats, accordingly.

    I mean, a Mage needs intelligence while a dexer needs dexterity, just to name an example among many possible..... This means that when players where given the abilty to swap magery and eval int onto a charcacter that was before a dexer with swordsmanship, anatomy etc. players will have to adjust the stats accordingly.

    This may become a chore and a frustrative task depending on how often skills are swapped and how different they are.

    That is why I think that since skill Soulstones are here to stay, then there really is no reason, IMHO, not to also have stat Soulstones which would only reduce the annoying task of adjusting stats manually whenever skills that need adjustment are swapped from a skill Soulstone.

    Bottom line is, as I see it, that adding stat Soulstones to the game would be an addition to make the game more enjoyable because less frustrating and requiring less repetitive, annoying tasks.........

    This is what I think should be avoided. Like I stated previously, you used to have 5 characters. Now you have 6 or 7. Add soulstones and you have the ability to make your 7 characters into MORE characters.

    If everybody in the game is able to have ALL skillsets maxxed out between all of their characters PLUS their soulstones, then there is no need for a community. Why would I buy a piece of armor from you or anyone else when I can make it with my 58th character slot by soulstoning smithing, arms lore, and imbuing onto my dexer? Then go take off those skills, drop dexterity and add 125 intelligence and switch to magery, eval and med? Soulstones in general were a terrible idea, and to me only added to the destuction of the community.

    I am totally against statstones and soulstones. Bad for the community. There was a reason at creation that you had only 5 characters. You simply couldn't do everything with 5 characters. Now what do we have? You have absolutely NO dependence on anyone else. Terrible.

    You say this but unless you play on like 3 out of all the rest of the shards, you will find it can be very frustrating to a. form a group b. buy select items/scrolls/even matts,

    example This weekend on Baja I needed to repair an item but didn't have access to my blacksmith at the time so I went to look for a repair deed. 1 deed in all of luna..... Yeah Totally need more community interaction ( there isn't anyone around ). btw before you say something about did you try chat blah blah blah Yes I did.

    When they were released, I also did not like them and I also think that by making players more self-sufficient they much reduced the need to rely on others for one's own playing needs.

    But the problem is, now, that the cat's already out of the bag and I do not think it can be put back inside. I mean, too many players have spent real money buying soulstones and I just do not see it as possible to go back and get rid of them.

    So, since soulstones are here to stay, why not also have stat stones ?

    I mean, it is not like not having stat stones will make people look for other players for their needs. If they already have the skills soulstoned, they will just work also the stats and be done with it. So, not having stat stones I do not think will help restore the need to look out for others. If this is a goal then other avenues to get there will need to be looked for.

    That is why I think that stat Soulstones could be made available, they would really not change much the self sufficiency of those players who already have skills Soulstoned......
    They would only make the task to swap skills on and off less annoying and less of a chore.

    That's at least my opinion.

    I still don't think there is a need for stat stones.


    Much bigger things that could be done for more players.




    And remember, there is a 23.8% chance that if they did add stat stones, that 3-5 other things in UO would be "broken", not caught on test center, and make it to the production shards...

    I play on one shard. It's Baja. Been there forever. There are vendors all over the place selling repair deeds. There is much more to the world than Luna. I would say about 60% of the vendors there are dead and empty, no longer being stocked. Look south of Luna or to the East. Theres all kinds of vendors that are NOT in Luna proper.
