Stealing Thought

    I think i have a good question for the bank sitting and the inactivity at banks.
    I think stealing should be brought to trammel and this could be controlled and give stealing a better use for all without of the fear of being killed in felucca. Make it so that stealing can be used but with restrictions to cursed items and unisured items just like in fel. And to protect new players and returning players is that there account must be activated in the last 6 months at least once, then that makes there chars on that account have the ability to be stolen from. This gives multiple account owners have the ability to have all accounts stolen from
    ( Cant have that house IDOC) So its just a thought that would end inactivity and promote more of the actual use of the multiple banks in UO hopefully ending the ghost town look. I dont know its just a thought

    It would be great for thieves if that was implemented; I would absolutely love it... but I think that would make people wary of using the banks, and when they had no other choices but to use a bank they would do it quickly. It would kill spam sales at banks (or bank, Luna) because most people just wouldn't know how to deal with being stolen from.

    And anyways, being chased for several screens after you've stolen something is half the fun. If they allowed stealing in Trammel most thieves would just get guardwacked (I guess that would depend on who you stole from...chase or GUARDS).

    Nice thought at first, giving the theif some love for a change would be a plus. But in the end all this would do is make bank activity be even less imo. Folks would just sit in their house and watch Gen chat.

    Considering that most items of any real value are insured and that hardly anyone uses reagents any longer I am not sure what good would this do, really, to thieves.

    A thief would have not much chances to really steal anything worth it so, why bother ?

    As EA thinks stealing in UO is for felucca or not at all I would rather see stealing become an exploration skill.
    With chests of treasure out there locked, trapped, hidden with items that need to be stolen and so.

    Stealing from players is dead on ea shards, but no reason not to think of something new.

    From someone here who almost only ever plays a thief, thats rubbish idea. Tram works because its the safe version of UO. Take away that safety, and there would be no Tram and be no UO. On Production shards people like to bank sit, its not for everyone but hey, neither is being a thief.

    Thieves have seen some love over the last few expansions (even if its not good old day stuff). We have dungeons to steal from, monsters can now be stolen from, would be nice if there was a chance to get an arti when stealing from monsters though aye. That smugglers edge thing was a good idea.

    Old thieves being able to rob in tram would end UO.

    Can you steal from all monsters or only those with bags?
    And did they introduce a virtual bag you can steal from?

    First off NO EVERYTHING is NOT mostly insured. You remember that you can't sell anything that is INSURED anymore right?

    So what you would have is about 4 million thieves hanging out in Luna outside each and every vendor waiting for someone to buy something so they could steal it.

    That would be the END of Vending and the end of buying and selling and it would kill all vendors in Luna and anywhere else.

    Yeah I want to have some punk come steal from me when I am buying crap in Luna... and I wouldn't be able to do jack squat about it.... oh yes that's just what I'd want.....

    NOT.

    To be honest I have never looked in bags... I just walk about stealing from everything I meet. For the big spider thing at the back of SA (navery?) to Medusa to mongbats.

    I hit the stealing macro and target the monster.

    Open a trade widow with another player. After 5 minutes of it being open and while it is open a player can be snooped and stolen from. With that a thief can be grey even in Tram. No less then 5 minutes for the trade window timer. Takes longer then 5 to use the crapper you may need to seek medical help. And if a player needs to be in a high traffic area to skill train without timing out, well you don't deserve the skill.

    There is no excuse for cluttering up the bank if your not active. Unless a player is trying to work off something they do want to do the time for. Can always sit there with an empty bag so I counter argue my own ideal. Untill there is a huge population growth and some other attempt to lure players to fel. Like the less seen champ spawns. Thieving will need some other carrot like monster mugging.

    Just asking about the virtual bag as I remember the developers stating it as a problem. You could steal from monsters and leave them with no loot and the developers found that a bug. I think they made a 'virtual bag* from where thieves can steal.
    As for the monsters needing a bag, that was necessary before else you could not steal from monsters.
    Stealing from monsters was in since ... almost day 1 I guess, so it is not something new. They just had it disabled for a few years.

    Bad idea from more than one design point.
    Trammel is supposed to be safe if you are afk or not. Next is before you had a chance to kill the thief and get it back not possible in Trammel even if grey as grey only means killable by guards in Trammel.

    And last you reduce thieves to trade window spammers in Trammel :)

    Get a classic server sig. That's your only hope to getting overpowered thieves back into the game.

    Because people would totally put up with this, right? They wouldn't just abandon the banks completely and/or quit the game, they would stand around and get stolen from and everyone would love it!

    Why don't you just come up and suggest they turn the servers off while you're at it?

    Your there playing or not. Not, can be going to your house while you cut your lawn, not park at the bank. Just close the trade window if your there and they move on to find another. AS far as someone harrassing someone opening a trade window there is nothing to stop that now. Then there is the 4 hours straight casting the same spell players. Guess in those fuzzy worlds this is OK and really earning the skill. Your there hands on the keyboard and mouse playing or your belonging are not being watched over. 5 minutes is a long time for a trade window to be open even if stopping by the bank while refreshing your coffee. What items that are allowed to be stolen and are that heartbreaking that a player needs to quit. They quit long ago for greater reasons. Agree Tram is a safe place if your paying attention. And if you want safe while taking a shower then go place a 7x7 and park there.

    Just toying with an ideal. Maybe those DoomSayers may toss out ideals toward the OPs concept. Those that have no stronger arguement then the death of UO and weak kneed players quiting for doing something that is knownly dumb. You added to your post count be happy. If it wasn't for the items in the dungeons for stealing I would of never made a thief. Not my play style to take enjoyment from stealing from others. Even though I still will try to come up with ideals for those who wish to play as such.

    I am a thief created to rob people. I loved swiping them big 120's and +25's out of peoples bags (even if I rarely do it anymore). But even I know removing the safety of tram is a bad idea. Thieves have plenty to do now. Even if its not what we wanted originally.
