    Hi, so i came back to UO after a couple three years and i dusted off my old mage tamer and i soulstoned a few things tried bard tamer but i lost my stone with disco and decided against it and i thought i would give spellweaving a try something like

    120 tame
    120 lore
    120 vet
    110 mage
    120 med
    120 spellweaving

    this is for doom and peerless i guess and some soloing. any thoughts appreciated thanks :)

    I think this world be a very powerful template! Have you had a chance to use weaving much? I think you'll like it.

    Two immediate advantages re: weaver/tamer occur to me:

    1) WOD to finish what your pet started.
    2) Ethereal Voyage. With a 4 or 5 focus, this spell will work like self-honoring, but can be repeated more often. Hence, you'll be able to honor-tame (essentially), but without having to raise your honor.

    Biggest problem with Weaving is finding the people to make a worthwhile focus.

    We have a guild on Cats whose primary templates are variations on that theme, the weaver/mage/tamer. We love it (and since we all have weaving, getting a level 5 focus is rarely a problem).

    More advantages:
    Gift of life on your pet lets you get back into the battle faster
    Gift of renewal on anyone or their pet has saved countless pets.
    Wildfire on Travesty gets rid of the duplicates for several seconds.
    Essence of wind can get rid of a ton of little spawn around your pet while your pet takes out the big stuff.
    Arcane empowerment and reaper form - for the extra damage from WoD (my tamer weaver does 300 damage with WoD with no SDI. My mage weaver does 452 damage with each WoD. In reaper form with arcane empowerment, that changes to about 600 points of damage from a single word of death.)
    Summon imp - If you actually use fire steeds, the summoned imp helps with the pack instinct. Tamed imps use two slots, while the summoned ones use one.

    Disadvantages:
    Spellweaving is a mana hog. You will constantly not have enough mana to cast the best weaving spells unless you have LMC and high MR on your suit.

    Without eval intelligence, your offensive power is limited to your pet and mind blast. That means you will still be able to kill everything, but you will do it more slowly than some.

    awsome ill give it a go i guess, even as a mage tamer i didnt cast too much anyways so im not too worried, right now i have 12 MR, 36% LMC, nd 144 mana so i guess we will see how it goes i guess thanks :)
     
  6. 600 damage from WOD, is that a cap? does it not really kill things at 30% health? or is that the damage if they are above 30%?

    Not sure which shard you play, but United We Fight on Atlantic has plenty of room for more weavers. I can always get at least a str 3. During primetime hours, a str 5 is easy to come by.

    The cap for WoD is only limited by how much SDI you can fit on your suit.

    The base damage for WoD seems to be 300 (at least in my experience)

    You can get 100% SDI from your suit, which makes it 600.

    Then there's additional damage increase from reaper form and arcane empowerment, which varies based on your skill and the level of arcane focus. I don't recall the numbers off my head and most places you'll look it up are wrong, so we'll call it about 30% for the pair (my max = 600. Without AE and RF = 452) which puts the max up above 780 points of damage.

    There's also a rumor going around that certain slayer books (elemental)work with WoD on certain monsters(Dark Father), but I haven't tested it so I won't mention that further.

    The problem there is that it's very impractical to make a suit with so much SDI and still have it functional as far as resists, LMC and LRC goes, which are all pretty important to a tamer. So most folk's WoDs will be less powerful than the theoretical max.

    Edit: and the damage done to a creature above 30% health is insignificant. It's comparable to a fireball in most cases.
