The ever changing state of PvP....

  1. If you could champion a single change to PvP as it is right now would it be

    1. A change to pets so that they were less effective versus players
    2. A change to archery so that dismount wasn't so prevalent
    3. A change to hiding so that every other character didn't have steath
    4. Something else

    That would solve the problem and it would still be a great skill.

    Personally Id like to see pet bonding dissapear/no insta log out.


    Archery isnt that big of a deal... there was once a time when everyone was on foot :p

    1. Pushing through people bumps them out of hiding for AT LEAST 10 seconds minimum, no smoke bombs, no invis pots, nothing could make you hidden again after someone bumps into you.

    2. Make it so for 10 seconds after attempting to dismount someone your weapon disarms and you can only walk.

    3. Change it so that if you have detect/track you can SEE a grey outline of invisible stealther people. No more tracking/revealing, you can instantly see them if your skills match theirs.

    ps. in case I was being too subtle, this was meant to be sarcasm, but has
    just as much merit as removing a skill because "I simply cant stand that skill".

  10. If they Fix #1 and #2 , # 3 wont be as widespread as it is now.

    If you get rid of stealth, the people who feel like they cant compete on a visable templet will either quit, stay in the guard zone or their house, only run in Zergs, or become a Tamer.

    Dismount by Bola isnt that bad, its the Heavy Crossbow dismount thats a problem, and its only really a problem when the Pets come directly after the dismount. (or in gank situations)

    So id say fix the Pets in PVP for my choice.

    Any aggressor may not instantly gather items off the aggressor's own corpse!

  12. LMAO, yea lets get rid of anything and everything that some and not all don't like. Why don't we just get rid of all arties, all magical items and all run around in newbie clothes and battle! So funny!

    No sarcasm this time.

    1. Pets cannot be ordered to attack other player characters, but will defend
    them if told to guard. (same way it currently is with pets vs robotic critters).

    2. Adjust Stealthing so that it functions more realistically.
    a. Must toggle into and out of Stealth Mode.
    b. Movement rate is cut in half, including animal form.

    3. To cast spell you must...
    a. select spell.
    b. select target.
    spell is THEN cast and immediately directed at target. No running around
    with spell pre-cast, seeking a target.

    4. All Field and Area spells effect EVERYONE, even caster. Only exception
    being spells that when cast are centered on caster, in which case only the
    caster is exempt from effects. (Whither/Earthquake)

    5. Bring back old armor system, where metal armor gives better protection,
    but comes with dex penalty.

    I know you only asked for 1, but the problems with PvP are too encompassing
    for a single change to do much good.

    This was proposed a couple years ago by the pvp players, except that they
    wanted it for everyone, not just aggressors.
    I just want to place the risk on the aggressors, not the defenders.
    And, really does items really matter? Items do not matter to me!

    obviously the problem in uo is....we only have 255 max stats. I say raise the cap to 500, that way we can all have about as much health as your average high end pet. This should make everyone happy you wont have to worry about dismount or PETS because you'l be a tank! the only reason for death would be you just suck or your connections bad

  17. they need to revert stealth to its former days....you know when it took skill to use. once you hide you auto stealth right away. well whatever happend to the delay to use another skill? i say talk it back there, you wont see as much weak pvp stealth fighting.

    I can agree here. As it is is too powerful. As it was, it was ridiculous as well. Halve the original timer.

    Problem here is, you have to play with detect timers as well.
     
  20. LOL I like A ghoul response the best. Lets make it so everyone is tough as hell to kill. I mean it seems to me people want to get rid of this or that because they get killed that way. So the problem is you get killed because of this tactic or that tactic so get rid of it?

    To me all the different choices is why I play UO. I do think that some things are better than others but so what. That is what makes it fun But yea make everyone a tank then we dont have to worry about it.

    +1 - Great ideas.

    If I had to pick 1, pets.

    Stealthing is a problem because detect is too weak (well that and smoke bombs but that's another issue). Everytime I use a skill check in stealth, it should make a roll against any detecters in the area. This isn't a passive reveal, but a failed active stealth check. So essentially, if I use the stealth skill (and I do every 16 steps), it should check against anyone with detect and based on their detect, my stealth could fail. And yes, I am a stealther.

    I don't think Stealthing is a problem because detect is too weak, I think it's a problem because Stealth is too strong. But neither should we turn the clock back to the way Stealth was way back when. Back then it was almost worthless. Have to reach a middle ground would be best I think. And I to am a Stealther.

    Dismount) you should not be able to hide so soon after.
    Tamer) Put a delay on the pet balls, remove insta log to save pets.
    Stealth) No really all that overpowering if you run detect/track.

    I'm all for removal of bonding on the sole condition we get our unlimited pets to control back now pets going into stat would be good alternative IMO. I'm all for the removal of log out feature and pet balls only in gz or at the stable

    When i got back in the game and found they added stealth, it made me sic.


    A good gamer has to think fast and make moves quicker than their opponent. Stealth takes all that away. It allows people to sit in the weeds, gather themselves then strike. They walk around with loads of confidence because they don't have to worry about !@#$!


    This last statement will prolly tick some people off. Any gamer can run a stealth character, its just as bad as using pets to pvp in my book. But who cares, uo isn't played by pros for real cash. It's played to gank and rip thas it. Which stealth is perfect for.


    C u on the field..No wait scratch that!!

    1. Pet Bonding removed (at least on all animals other than rideables).
    2. Pet Balls restricted to a 24 hour timer.
    3. Dismount removed from weapons and restricted to bolas.
    4. Faction bugs fixed.
    5. EA actually giving a damn about what any of us want.

    All this makes good discussion, but it's not like the powers that be are going
    to do anything about it. If the DEVs actually listened to the player base, UO
    wouldn't be as screwed up as it is.

    AND when your a blue that has no buisness in a faction fight IN a guard zone and i OWN you one on one you cant insta rez and get my hard earned loot.

    I think It is truley Sad to see the so-called leet pvpers running speedhack.
    I consider these guys LOWER then any Luna Noto Stealth Tamer because they are decent pvpers and cant handle to lose so bad they have to cheat.

    Im just sick of the cheating, and im talking about obvious stuff, i give people the benefit of the doubt and dont throw around accusations lightly. There isnt alot of super obvious stuff going on but its easy to spot the REAL SCRUBS on this shard! The True Scrubs are the Cheaters, not the stealthers, not the Tamers, not the GZ huggers, its you who feel it necessary to cheat to win that are the Scrub NOBODY's who have NO Respect from anyone here, you are the only Losers playing Siege.

    Well actually 99%. Petballs should be usable every 20 minutes.
     
  34. I think biggest problem with PVP are speed hackers and 3rd party prog's that arent aloud by osi

    untill this is fixxed pvp will be always unbalanced! sad thing is more and more players are starting to use these cheats causing more people to quit uo cause they refuse to use [​IMG]

    Truth. I agree 100%.
    I'll fight a tamer any day with strong confidence in my ability to win. A stealth tamer? not so much. My inability to hurt them makes it rather difficult. I know this being on the otherside too, I feel invincible as a stealth tamer. 'oh no! theres more of them than me! oh wait, who cares? I can just put my pets on someone then smoke and stealth away no problem.' - honestly, I think thats lameass. (But I do admit i do it)

    and truth be told, I don't do this and look at any player who does as pathetic.

    Go ahead, employ any and every advantage you need to compete in this game... no one's stopping you. Just realize that being that I don't rely on any of that crap and I still compete with you.

    Make stealth easier to reveal (i.e. make it possible to reveal someone).

    Remove mounts from the game. Nerf pets in PvP accordingly so it's not too easy to kill someone.

    nothing like hittting the bomb macro as soon as you get introuble.......this is worst than anything in game atm! ok maybe dismounting with weps is up there but smokebombs are worst imo.

    How about making smoke bombs force a mandatory 3 second paralysis. So you use a smoke bomb, it hides you, you then can not move for 3 seconds, then you can stealth away.

    At least gives mages, detectors, or those with conflag pots a chance to reveal you.

    AT LEAST make it so that an aggressor can not use a smoke bomb, similar to the inability to flee or house hide.
