Here it is.. looks fine so far..
Can anyone tell me how to actually write stuff ? ._."
Is it live, or is it memorex?
Whatever memorex is, but you can go have a look at it by clicking the "Chat" thing....
I take this to mean that whichever channel you are in using the appropriate command will allow you to chat in that channel.
This sounds great... my client is patching now so will hopefully test it soon
Ok, How do it turn the spam crap off? I don't need to be sitting here and get some scripter spamming some site.
Thank you very much for that. I now feel almost as old as I actually am. My question, stated so poorly, was did you find this in place on a prodo or the test shard?
I didn't receive any spam myself, but I assume you could join/create another channel or leave all chat channels and just use the normal method of communicating.
I like it.
Just be aware that when you select leave channel in 2D there won't be a confirmation message until the publish goes live (you do leave the channel though)
I'll be happy when they straighten it out, or it straightens itself out....I supposedly shut the chat off, and am getting some knucklehead spamming a site too.
trying the no chat channel......
Haha! You are old! =D
*Has no idea what memorex is....or betamax or 8 tracks...nope...never heard of it.*
Gonna be interesting to see who is using the new chat system and for how long it can make it.
It appears you can not repeat the same text back to back. Won't stop spammers, but it was great to see that implemented.
How to change the chat text coloring ?
I seem unable to change the chat text coloring from the default orange.
I tried the ALT-O (Options, Face TAB on the left side) but did not work.
Anyone knows how ?
There is no way to customize the chat color in the Classic Client at the moment. There are plans to implement this feature, but in the meantime, we will probably roll out a mini-patch in the near future to have the client use a more visible color against the Journal.
I clicked leave chat on the gump and the text is still popping up. Why?
I am not thrilled seeing f... off on my screen is all.
Will we be automatically in a chat every time we log in? Hope not.
I will now read thread for answers.
Is there a way to put other people on your channel on ignore? I'd like to be able to be in general chat without getting spam or seeing what annoying people have to say.
is there a way to turn it off??????????????
I created my own channel so I didnt have to read what everyone was saying cause it was just down right wrong and ppl were jumping in the channel i made and creating issues.....

Cyrah, you can switch to your own custom channel which will be free of the general clamor. If you enable the UO Menu Bar, there's a chat button which will let you switch channels and create custom channels.
Also, I'd like to see something implemented where you can enter the last room you were in, even if it has to be created when you login. Or perhaps something where you can specify a default public room. I rather like the peace and quiet of Ilshenar-General to the trash talking of Trammel-General.
On test I went in to the chat function and hit "Leave Chat". I now no
longer have to read the rudeness that comes out of the mouths there.
At the bottom of the chat channel it says "Current Channel None"
On Napa, I tried the same and it still shows me in chat, but either
it worked or no one is talking lolololololol
I will not use it simply because it puts your charactor ID in front of everything said
4 track for the win.
I hope eventually the Channel Selection Window is expanded to include a names list on the right as the old channel system had while we communicate.
With a few tweaks I'm really digging on this new chat system! Having the option to turn it off is just as valuable to some so thank you for all the options *smiles*
And what, exactly, is anyone going to do with that?
I am just SO relieved they made SOMETHING ELSE that needs improvement already instead of improving previous bugs/ issues we already had.
And is it bad that others can see one's own character ID ?
Why, if I may ask ?
There may be a couple of reasons people don't like it that you can see a character's number:
If people are paying attention, it may eliminate any confusion that you and maybe others may have deliberately tried to cause by creating character's with the same name and that are dressed identically.
If you like to cause havoc by using a disguise kit to conceal your thief character's true name, the character number may give you away. Again, folks would have to be paying attention in order to catch someone doing this.
And without someone from the UO team actually telling us that the character numbers cannot be used by anyone for malicious purposes, anyone who wants to use the chat system at this point is kind of taking a leap of faith that the system wasn't released with a major, glaring security loophole in it (i.e., the display of character numbers).
I'm really liking this (in EC, the 2d version looks dodgy but who cares) but is there a list of commands somewhere for changing channel etc? I can't find that supposed Chat button on the menu bar.
Ask yourself if you ever need to type in your char id? Do you even know what it is (prior to this)? I suspect you would need physical access to the datacenter to do any real damage.
edit: UOA has known your char ID for the better part of a decade.
Are you using a custom skin? That tends to hide the new button. It's a bit annoying since it makes the menu bar longer
Bingo, thanks Completely forgot I made some changes.
Yeah I noticed this also as I had that menu in the lower right corner... fixed it by scaling the UI to 0.90 and it works great
This isn't Second Life -
How did you get that stuff locked down in your castle courtyard?
Please make this a priority. Speaking for most color blind people, the orange is very difficult to see, much less read. Something in a bold blue or darkish silver would be very nice to have as options.
Can be changed to any color you want (in the enhanced client).
Lower left hand corner of the chat window is the chat icon > Right click on it.
Select Chat Colors and then left click the Custom (should be orange) pick a new color from the option or create your own. Hit accept and you are good to go.
What precautions are you taking from people announcing EM events on Trial account or impersonating an employee on a trial account?
*Yeah I sorta broke the rule when I was doing pictures on test for impersonation now that I think about it.*
I am not James Nichols or EM Vladimere. Nor do I claim to be. This was just to show how easy you can get people killed.
