This is a true story. It seems impossible. I was getting 0 fame from Miasma on my Sam Deadly Smurf. I went to the cavern of the discarded. I never died. Not a single time. I was there a long time honestly on several days. So many important things come from there.

I killed the 3 ratman bosses many times today. I prefer to kill them all at the same time so I just drag them around. It's faster that way. Its not a big deal, but its not like I wasn't killing monsters.

I noticed I lost Lord when I was repairing my armor there today. How in the world could you go from 0 fame on Miasma to losing Lord without dying while you're killing monsters. This is beyond ridiculous. I fixed it of course. I killed 50 or 60 Miasmas right quick. It only took 1 to fix it.

This cannot be how fame decay is supposed to work. How can you lose Lord while killing monsters with appx 40k hps without dying?

I don't think fame or karma decay at all (without death or -karma actions), unless they changed something.

Maybe you are bugged. I can die at lady/lord at least once and keep the title most of the time.

Hmm . . . that's odd. I've been Glorious/Dread Lord on several toons for weeks.

Did you kill anything on the way to the cavern of the discarded? Fairy Dragons cost karma to kill - are there other good aligned creatures in that area?

Losing Lord has nothing to do with karma. It's all about the Fame. You either sacrificed your fame by mistake, or did infact die.

QFT. Death, sacrifice, or extensive time without adding to your fame by killing high end stuff is the only way to lose fame.

Fame does indeed decay with time.

Want to try it? Barely get the Lord/Lady title on your mule or a toon that play but dosent kill anything and you will see youll lose the Lord title pretty quick, even if you do not ever die/sacrifice/whatever...

I had the exact same issue on my crafting toon that lost his Lord title very often without doing anything relate to fame in his life, so i had to either fill some BoD to get it back or mess around Ev'ing thing like ogre lord...

Fame also decays faster if you cross server lines a lot.

My main crafter got lord from Bods, hasn't turned in one for years. There is no reason you should have lost lord in the if you were killing stuff down there.

    There's your answer.

Your fame was on the cusp of Lord, a few points over. A few points decayed and you fell below the line, so you only just lost Lord. It's not that you decayed an entire "level", just the few points between the top of one and the bottom of the other. One kill put you back over the line.

You guys tickle me. You really don't have a clue how things work...

This has happened many many times. Not, just this one time. I could have died 5 times and still been a Lord on that character.

I'm not bugged. We have had it happen on 10 or 12 characters on 4 accounts. It happened several times in TOT3.

O i know. But, losing what 14k or 15k of fame while killing monsters is ridiculous.

One thing is for sure though, you definitely play enough uo to undestand the game very well.

It was 14k or 15k of fame that decayed not a few points. Basically I knew I wasn't going to leave for a looong time when I got there. Anyway, this wasn't so much I cry for a explanation of what this characters problem was. I know quite a bit about fame from taking careful notes over the years. Basically, when you get to no fame on Ice Fiends you can die 4 times and still be a Lord or Lady. Miasma on the other hand has a LOT of fame.

This should have been impossible. I already know that. I was posting it hoping someone that could do something about it might read it. I really don't need people telling me I must have died, and I'm too stupid to know it, or I must have sacrificed my fame and not know that. I've sacrificed fame 1 time in 12 years. I have no reason to sacrifice fame...

I've been trying to be nice here, honestly but at this point I don't feel like that any more. I no longer want to brighten folks days with happy things. I don't want to help people play uo any longer. I guess the amount of hatred I generated by attempting to be nice has worked.

I want to bring things to the attention of people that can actually do something like that ecru citrine thing. I don't think the people that code fame now have any idea you can lose 1.5 times more fame than it takes to be Lord by killing monsters.

So, you're saying in effect that I'm lying or it didn't happen.

I think you believe what you're saying. I even understand why you believe it. I have 23 Lords and Ladies I think. It may be 25. I believe we have 2 characters that work that aren't a Lord or Lady. It might be 3. None of the crafters have EVER lost Lord or Lady that I got that way turning in BODS. So what, I'm not talking about them. I don't play hundreds of hours on those characters. I log on get bods, or make things and log off.

Woah - chill out matey. People are posting answers to your question according to their own knowledge and best judgement and out of good will. Communication is not flawless. Misunderstandings happen.

Now that you have explained things in detail I'm sure everyone agrees with you. What happened to you seems like an impossible event. (Which is basically what Picus points out: It shouldn't have happened. He is not calling you a liar. He says the event is impossible. Like you said. Right?)

I can't say I have experienced an increased rate of decay lately. But since you have seen it happen to several characters on different accounts it's either A) a bug (just because it happens to more characters doesn't mean it's not a bug) or B) it's a 'feature'. Perhaps the hunting ground you mentioned drains fame?? Just a thought - I haven't got a clue.

  18. Regardless of how much fame you thought you had, the statement above shows that your fame was not as high you seem to think it was. It was borderline. Iif you gained the title by killing 1 Miasma then you had a lot less than you believed you did. Fame does indeed decay, which is why most people suggest killing more high end creatures after you've reached the Lord/Lady point to account for decay and/or death.

If what you're killing is all low end stuff, then they wouldn't affect your fame until you got down to a level that is below what they are. That's just how it works.

    Well said.

I have experienced fame decay on my crafter, she waffles between lady and not lady depending on if she's turned bods in lately, but I play her probably the most of all my characters, at least usually (not lately what with halloween and thanksgiving quests though).

Fame decays when you are ingame, playing a character. If you are killing monsters you will only gain fame if you are within the range to gain fame from them. Renowned rats do not give good fame or karma apparently, as in they will give it to someone who is within the range, but that range is low.

It's not a case of a low level monster giving 100 fame/karma to anyone regardless of their level, there is a comparison between the person and the monster and if you are too high you get nothing. You have exceeded your ability to get fame from that monsters, which makes sense really. No one is going to say they are impressed by Dread Lord Johnny's ability to kill mongbats. Now some green lad just out from mucking the stables might get lauded for taking down an ettin that was threatening some cows. Or whatever, you get the picture.

Probably what needs to happen is that renowned monsters (at least rats) should have their fame/karma adjusted so that it's at a more rewarding level. It takes a long time to kill those suckers, even on a very good character. That's gotta be worth a bit of fame, I think.

This could be a good question for the new sub forum, asking what fame/karma each of the new renowneds give, and if they could be adjusted to make more sense.

This ACB guy really cracks me up. If he's not pancakes about how much something in this game sucks, he's bragging about how awesome he is....

I think he needs to find something else to live for besides pixel crap and titles.

How are you so sure you lost 14k or 15k fame? From the sound of it you were barely above the borderline of Lord if all it took was one monster to fix it. I have a guy who is at Lord, he's been at lord for a long long long time. Never really play him because, well, hes a t-hunter :p

I know he's well above the borderline and he has never lost his title.

QFT... From what you stated, OP, then you obviously just hit fame. If you lost "14-15K" Then one Maisma wouldn't get you to lord... If I remember right, the Max fame is 16k which means you would have lost all your fame, and Maisma's don't give anywhere near Max fame, They give a lot, but not max.
