Before it is too late, and the Devs leave out some items which players might be interested to see as included to turn in for points in the spring (or summer...) CLEANOUT, I thought to start a thread in which players can post their suggestions to the Devs as for items which they might want to be included as available turn ins for points.

I will start the list :

    - RARE Books obtained as reward from the Fish Monger Quests.

These currently have no use for players and though I would have liked to see them as possible turn ins for Library Collectibles as it was done for the regular crabs and lobsters, AT THE VERY LEAST include them as possible turn ins in the CLEANOUT.

    NOTE
Since the rarity of these Books is NOT the same, and some are MUCH rarer than others (Book # 6 seems to be even rarer than a 120 Fishing Powerscroll....), the points they would give as turn ins should GREATLY vary.

Dear Devs, when deciding the points, please consider that in order to get these useless Books players had to invest quite a bit of their time in fishing whatever was needed to complete the order and sail to whatever destination was required to deliver the order and get the book.
What I am trying to say, is that in these useless Books there's time that players invested to get them books all for nothing..... Please make them bring good points, depending of their rarity. Thanks.

Please feel free to add whatever other items you think should be in the CLEANOUT.
Of course, not ordinary items but unusual items which the Developers might not think about.

I honestly think the devs put much thought into what they are going to put out for this cleaning event and when they are ready they will tell us. When they do these roll outs it takes time, I am sure they are not just sitting there saying hmmm lets make them wait some more... lol...

I see more of a problem WHAT ITEMS will be available to be turned in and the points they will give than the rewards that will be made available.

If this is supposed to be a CLEANOUT thing, then items which have not much of a use for players should be all considered as available turn ins.

Of course, the points they would bring should be well scaled according to their rarity or difficulty to get.

Ya Im sure all the high point turn-ins will be obtained only from Fel so Im sure the Fel guilds will do very good as usual, and we will be left trying to buy the items off them for and absurd amount

I think they did a very comprehensive job in what they included in turn ins for the last Spring Clean. We know the design for this one is in hand. I am willing to wait and see what they come up with.

I believe there has already been a mention of the dragonfish books - Though if someone has a copy of book 6 I'd really, really like the opportunity to 'read' it with the book recorder in Pinco's UI. I begin to think the book doesn't exist outside of a design document.

For a reward I'd like to see a recipee for acid proof rowboat paint. A craftable paint applied to your rowboat deed. This will allow you to place a rowboat in some dungeon waters. The paint wears from the deed after one use.

I have a problem with waiting to see when all has been done because it "might" be too late to go back and make changes........

For example, say that some items which players were wiling to use in the cleanout will NOT be included when the CLEANOUT goes to Test Server, what chances will there be that the Developers will still add them ? Very slim since it would require further coding...

So, if there are items, NEWER items since last CLEANOUT like the rare books from the Fish Monger Quests, but also the Focus sashes and gems from the Bane/Ophidians Event, for example, I think we should be reminding these items to make sure that they will not be left out as available turn ins.

This is the purpose of this thread.

Let's be honest here, you have a problem with letting the devs do their jobs without carpetbombing the forums with suggestions of what you want UO to be, in an attempt to browbeat them into complying.

Popps I agree with you but at this point its to late they have told us before that they usually are months out on new content so I would think they are just waiting and working on the new art. The actual turn-ins and there points is easy to ally to a system that is already done the art is what takes time....Not to say they mite not add items for like the 3rd tier though. So after they release what the turn-ins are is when we should ask them to add items to the list I dont feel they are even listing to us at this point i would think they are just focused on getting the mini booster done and the S/C event done Its a wait and see for them.

I am sure that I am completely wrong ha.

A thread where all players are welcome to add THEIR suggestions along with mine to have a more complete CLEANOUT turn in list is carpetbombing the Forum ?

    Hallo ??

What if in the end the CLEANOUT turn ins miss some items that players still wanted to get rid of ??

Is it better for Ultima Online if the Developers LISTEN to players or if players of this game stay put and let things happen to UO without their opinion about the game they play be known ?

    Excuse me ??

    Hallo !
The all players is just an addendum to your demands, wrapping up what you want with a fa├žade community spirit, when all you really want is a platform from which to nag the devs into making UO conform to your vision.
So... I don't think you are excused... Sorry

Could well be, but nonetheless, how much harm does it do to have a thread from which the Devs can easily pick whatever items the players indicated as their desired turn ins ??

I mean, noone is asking that they leave everything else and work now on the new turn ins, this thread is only supposed to be a comprehensive list, as complete as possible, from which they can pick informations at their best convenience whenever they will work on the CLEANOUT.

Those who are not interested in the CLEANOUT, or have no particular item to suggest that be included, then please, leave this thread ALONE.

This thread is about building a PLAYERS' list of items which they want to be added as turn ins for the CLEANOUT.

All those who have items to suggest are very welcome to add them to the list in progress otherwise, there is PLENTY of other threads besides this one to enjoy.

  24. The "harm" is in not calculating the "risk vs reward" ...

    popps
just put your damn list up
complete with the point values you think "fair"
skip the "justification" monologue/treatise for each and > every - single - one < of them
(unless there be some "insightful" reason why "color" may matter ... just sort/filter >those< against some reasonable "priority matrix")
    and
to be "complete and thorough" ... *ahem*
LIST the rewards and their associated point cost
THEN we can break down and assess the incumbent "user ease" of turn in ...
drag and drop takes too long
    causes carpel tunnel syndrome
    but
    not "too quick and easy"
(feels like yo!ur "being rushed ... can't read that fast ... need to let the wifey look over the choices too ... need time to reconsider ...what if I make a mistake and pick the wrong one ... can I rebate this like a re-gifted gift that is no longer under warranty? or should I inquire of the GM staff to recolor/turn/replace it??
... I mean ... If this item is worth 10,000pnts as a reward ... can I not turn it in for a choice of others peoples trash that was irregularly assigned a point value that I, and I assume, the majority of players are also in disagreement with")
THEN (you likely already have a final draft of it) we may address the "value" of any and all other "left over points" from other old, discontinued, largely ignored turn-in-points that may or mayn't be outstanding ...

I personally believe that old unused points should "decay" in value
    but
a strong argument may be formed that they are but a "good faith investment" in the form and structure of UO and should therefore accrue certain cumulative increases in assigned and apportioned values (after all ... you DID clean out all those low-level items from the lizardmen slain for the hides during that one invasion ... Priceless!! I say ...)

Then I have a suggestion popps. Stop responding to posts you don't like and arguing with people. You seem to always let yourself get drawn into arguments by doing this and thus getting your own thread off of your preceived subject.

...That sort of kills the point of a cleanout, letting people hoard more items. People in this game need to be less attached to their pixels. Ultima is nothing but Hoarders: The MMO anymore. >.>

That is some very good advice and, often, I do my best not to reply.

Unfortunately, sometimes this gets mistaken as lack of arguments. That is, if someone argues something to me and I stay silent, to avoid the argument being dragged on, my lack of a reply sometimes may be mistaken as not having a valid counter argument. Which I have, I just don't feel having always to be dragged in endless back and forth digressing arguments.

I'd rather have the Moderators step in and clean out the thread of those posts clearly disturbing it......

Perhaps there is something with the game that gets some players, quite a few of players, to want to hoard items ??

Personally, I think that the root of the problem was, initially, the need for large amounts of wealth needed to be competitive in the game (to afford high end stuff). Now the release of replica items and of imbuing has somewhat lessened this but still wealth is felt by some players a necessity to play the game at the top. For example, say that a player enjoys running vendors and wants to get a vendor House in a prime vending location (Luna, Tokuno or Magincia) since there still is no global vendors system. That spells hundreds of millions, often.....

Now, what has hoarding got to do with amassing wealth ?

    The answer is rares......

The more a player stocks up items, the better the chances that if that given item raises in value because of an increased scarcity, then the player with a large stock of this given item can cash in the gold by selling it time after, when the value has increased.
In the meantime, though, the item needs to be stored and for this, storing space is needed......

Not to mention, the fact that Ultima Online has a past history of gold sold for real money.
So, regardless from a player wanting wealth to be competitive at the top, wealth might also have been seeked in some cases to then sell gold to other players.

What I am trying to say, is that cleanouts, occasional storage increases I see them only as patch ups to a problem. If the root of the problem in the game is that players hoard items, not all players, of course, but a number high enough to make it significant, to accumulate gold, whatever the reasons, then if this problem wants to be addressed than it is the gold need that should be dealt with.

Let us imagine that overnight some magic design brilliant solution made gold no longer wanted by players. Let's imagine that no longer there is a market to sell gold for real money, let's imagine that no longer gold is needed to be competitive at top levels in this game.

Well, then I think chances are that the hoarding of items would be greatly reduced and people would only store whatever they need to play the game.

That's at least my opinion about the problem.

The only problem with that thought is that it creates more work for the moderators to have to clean the thread over and over again. When it reaches that point, it's easier to just lock it.
