There goes the neighborhood!

There I was, just a couple of days ago, happily wandering Gaman Plains in Homare-Jima, training taming on gamans. Of course, for ages no one has cared about gamans; it was a nice, quiet neighborhood where I could tame in peace.

    enter ToT3

Now, I can hardly get 2 tames in before some moron runs through the screen killing not just the gaman I'm taming, but every other gaman in sight and shouting expletives all the while. And I cannot properly describe how many of my poor Bakes have been killed when some dishonorable ToT hunter comes along and lures a load of tsuki wolves and kaze kimonos up to where I'm taming and then recalls out, laughing in caps.

It would be nice if I gained in honor for these, as despite my frustration I neither respond to their provocation nor attempt to bribe an EA official for the home address of someone who names their character after fattening party snacks or indecisive invective. Alas, this is not in the cards.

Thus, I encourage any newcomer to the Tokuno Islands, those of you seeking treasure in the new event: KEEP OFF THE GRASS! Hunt your treasures, have fun, but quit griefing those of us that were there first. There are better ways to improve your gaming experience than by disrupting mine.

Only thing i could suggest would be to work on your survival tactics. Recall out. Invis then recall out. Toss a confusion blast potion and recall out. If you die, log out and back in so your pets don't die too.

ToT really brings the worst out in some people.

The easiest solution is to try and tame elsewhere for the duration of the event. Folks always farm event spawn and every rude idiot is out there now ;) So either go when it's quiet or work elsewhere if you can. That's what I'd do. Let's face it, everywhere else is going to be empty lol.

I have seen none of these things, myself.

This is an MMO....For various reasons, be it a manufacturer-sponsored event; some RP event; or just a "rediscovery" of the viability of killing creatures in a certain map, there is simply going to be no place that you are going to be doing your thing, completely un-impacted by other players. There's always the chance that the neighborhood can suddenly become more populated.

Think of what it was like when they could swarm in and kill you and camp the wandering healers. (In Tokuno it's monks, but you get the idea.)

This doesn't mean I'm unsympathetic to you. I've had similar things happen in this game. I'm doing something no one else has caught onto yet, all of a sudden for one reason or another other players catch on (or, like now, something changes) and start "invading" what I perceive to be my "territory."

Oh no, I absolutely agree with all of you. This is an MMO, and as such we are all responsible to provide our own enjoyment. And lord knows there's enough places to tame. It just reminded me of RL so much at that moment, like when the family with the incredibly irritating children moved in next door and started being incredibly loud from 6am ad terminum and harrassing my dogs and throwing trash in the yard. Not alot can be done, but it still gets under your skin sometimes.

I guess it speaks well for UO, in that even aggrievation in the game cn so aptly resemble real life=)

FOR YOUR INFORMATION i'm not a tamer! tamers would be ashamed to count me in their ranks, as thus far the best I can tame is gamans!!

if they are deliberatly luring spawn onto you and leaving then you can page on them for that. chances are nothing will be done with them since EA has the sh!ttiest customer service and the laziest gm's but you may catch one in a halfway decent mood and they ban the jerk-offs.

  10. Only if you ask them to stop first, then leave the area yourself, and they follow you. Other than that, there isn't crap you can do.

You dont own the Gaman, you don't own the islands...you own nothing...

Go train taming in Fel so some real UOers can teach you what this game was originally all about. If they come kill your pets your training taming on, attack them and kill them. And if you cant do that, maybe you should just sit in luna bank. Neener Neener :danceb:

  15. Aww, I'm sorry you missed your morality lessons today. Maybe they'll let you have 2 hours tomorrow if you ask nicely.

Oh wait, you don't know how to do that yet do you? Must be in the Fall class....:loser:

Nope they don't own the Gaman..... they do however pay the same fee to play like everyone else... apparently that doesn't amount to a hill of beans with some people... they act like they are the only ones playing and have no respect for other players.

But by your comment I can see your mentality is about at a 2nd grade level so I guess having compassion for your fellow players is above your level...

As for the fel comment fat chance.... you know it's comments like that one that keep 90% of people from ever even going to fel.... Consider that this game is 11 now..... and there has been a trammel for at least 8 of those 11 years... so chances are there are thousands of players who started long after trammel who've never set foot in fel...

Most of us just plain don't care.

And if your going to call me a Trammy go right ahead... though you may be mistaken about it. I have had many ventures to Fel. But my game play doesn't revolve around that.

No what I will say is this it's people with attitudes like yours that ruin this game for a great many people..... it's attitudes like that which cause folk to get very disgusted with the game and leave... Course if everyone did that they would shut down UO and then none of us would have to be concerned at all about jerks who are rude, insensitive, and think they don't need other people in the game.

Imagine if those other people playing really didn't matter???

Hum.... then UO would be a console game not an MMO.....

And you could do whatever it was you wanted. But there would be NO one to buy your precious scrolls, no one to buy your mini-arties, No one to buy anything, and it would be a whole lot less fun...

So now... if you want other people to play with then perhaps you might consider your actions a bit better... after all we all pay to play and we all pay to enjoy the game. So what's wrong with treating other people with respect?

Think about it. And lose the 2nd grade attitude. Or do us all a favor.... go to fel.... and stay there.

Praytell where the OP can find a spawn of Gaman in Fel (and on top of that, such a spawn that would NOT be camped by PKs just to target people training up Taming).

    We'll be waiting.

ToT is scheduled to last one month.

Let all the kiddies have their fun. Save yourself some stress and either find something else to enjoy for the duration or perhaps join in and run around killing everything in sight.

Either way, it will all end soon enough.

  20. Real uo'ers?
    Pleeeeeeaaasssee!
EVERY person playing uo is a REAL uo'er bub.
Seems as tho you werent around when UO was invented either, einstein.
Forced upon you pvp was supposed to be a PART...repeat...a PART of uo, not ALL of it.....oh lacking of said clue "real" uo'er.(as if)

Even our daddy, King Richard, said so himself, that if he had it to do over, he would have done it differently, as forced pvp was NOT what he invisioned!

Now....go find your rattle to play with and stop bothering the nice people!

As it happens, I WAS around before trammel, and while some "real uo-ers" (and incidentally, can one be "real" in a virtual world?) were running around making other people miserable, other "real" uo-ers were running around defending, healing and rezzing their victims. I trained a 7gm swords healer for just that purpose, long before tram and fel ever existed.

Since the creation of other facets, though, the rules have changed. We have a designated facet for PvP; note that it isnt tokuno. When training my thief in Fel, I expect losses, I expect to be PKd, and I retaliate in kind; note that I havn't griped about that in the slightest. That's what fel is intended for, not tokuno.

You can be a "real" uo-er and a real person at the same time. Unlike some, I have avoided believing that the anonymity of MMOs gives one carte-blanche to abandon courtesy and decency. And too often, this is exactly the issue that shrinks our online community.

no in the trammel ruleset luring spawn onto someone deliberately and leaving or invising so the spawn attacks that person is a bannable offence

Constructive comments - If you are working on taming, like Wenchy says, everywhere else would be nigh empty in the interim - bulls in jehlom pens/delucia, ridgebacks in savage camp.

Destructive comments - However! In case you might later regret the decision to run away, consider this - While you can train taming anytime later, TOT3 is a limited time event. I say fight! Run amok! Raise mayhem! Let lose the dogs of war! Engage in random acts of violence against little fiery rodents/big reptiles/weird looking buffalos/pansy ladies with fans! Join in the event, but instead of taming the gamans, kill them before anyone else does! Works even better if you see the same folks that has been killing the gamans you tried to tame, and snatch their kills!! Mwuahahaha :p

*Stops manical laughter abruptly, wipes froth from lips and composes self*

Erm..I mean join in the fun and enjoy the event while you can

And honestly Mr. Neener? Pre-Tram was never like FEL. Most reds ran onto your screen, sized you up to see if you were worth looting or bigger than he was. Only in the later years did we see stupid little kids that killed everything in sight...much like um...YOU I guess.

  25. You have to prove they did it first.

Oh, I was just running away. Sorry they followed me and you got killed.

Eh, I was just leaving for a while. Sorry they followed me and you got killed.

The phone rang and I had to leave so I could answer it. Sorry they followed me and you got killed.

Someone was at the door and I had to leave so I could answer it. Sorry they followed me and you got killed.

That is if you could even get the gm's to show up to check the afkers hitting the headless server up to server down

It's actually repeatedly luring, not "luring" and honestly most things in tram are a banable and luring happens to fall into the "physical harassment" section, and for there to be physical harassment they have to reasonably try to work it out with you first, so no just "luring" something and you running away crying, is not banable.

I will finish with two parts of the Knowledge base.

First part is so you know luring is physical harassment:

Luring monsters to other players on the Trammel, Malas or Ilshenar facets in order to kill and/or loot them can be considered physical harassment and is not permitted.

Second part is what you have to do before submitting a complaint for harassment::

Before you submit a harassment complaint, be sure you understand what constitutes harassment and that you have followed these steps:

    * You have asked the player to "please stop" (and then they have continued to repeat the offending behavior).
    * You have tried to remove yourself from the situation, for example, by recalling away or moving several screens.
    * You have done nothing to instigate or further encourage the harassment.
    * You have added the player to your ignore list, which is located in your UO options, under Filter Options.
    * You have read and understand Electronic Arts' definition of harassment, and Electronic Arts' Terms of Service.
    * Your account information is up to date (including a current email address).

i was training my taming up on gamans saturday nite on seige. i got taken down by two stealthing reds that were camping the gate. i got semi looted.

i got a rez, went back to the house, replaced my armor and changed my taming tactics. no big deal.

you'r taming in tram. you didn't get lured on, you didn't get killed, you didn't get looted. uo's a big world. go tame bulls at that level. go tame kirins at that level. there are plenty of other options open for you. it's an event, what kind of behavior do you expect. i'm not condoning what people do, or how they act but as in real life not everyone you encounter is a super cool person.

deal with it. in one month from now you'll have your precious gamans back all to yourself. whine, whine, whine... :talktothehand:

I had some person lure lots of hyiru oni etc on me yesterday. He ran right up to me and invised. I hid then recalled to a different spot at the spawn. I'm not sure if he died or not never went back to check like I usually do I just kept playing. Sure I could of let the spawn kill me and page on him. Its alot more fun to recall out and let the spawn kill them instead. lol

believe what you want but i have gotten someone banned because he brought a dragon to where i was taming and released it so it could attack me and he recalled out. i paged, and he came back on another account cussing me out because he got banned. i paged again for verbal harrassment and after about 20minutes he poofed again and i have never seen him since.

now he could have claimed he was there to train it and it went wild but the bottom line is he got banned for luring spawn. a couple of his guildmates even came to where i was and rezzed me and apologized for his behavior.

strange. thats like my favorite thing to do on my alt account when the pvp is dead. Heres what you do folks:

at ilsh spirit, theres always these chumps farming stuff. I go up to dreadhorn joint joint, and get me a bunch of those mean spiders and changlings and stuff and drag it back to all these chumps farming stuff. Then what i do is just hide and watch everybody get killed. Then after that, its always best to go to the shrine where they're res'in up and say 'sorry'. Its pretty sweet.
