These new changes good for Siege?

    1) BoS changes: money will be worth more and resources are harder to get from one spot to another, specially leather. Thus making the costs of gm barbed armour raise and people mostly less wealthy.

    2) BOD changes: runic will get a boost and you should get better bods the higher your skill is. This could mean that gathering bods will be "less" tedious and more rewardable. The diference between GM armour and runic armour will be significant bigger.

    3) Cursed artifact drop: with the on going Magincia event, most of us have like +100 cursed artifacts. This will lead to more people using cursed artifacts.

    4) Doom: new reward system should allow everyone who can do damage DF to get eventually a doom artifact.

Is this all good for Siege?

Will this not make the haves and the haves not gap bigger? What if I join Siege after Magincia event is finished and the all changes are in, am I then still able to compete or will I have to work even harder than I already have too?

I personally think it will be harder for NEW players to stick to Siege after these changes. Not only do they have to go through RoT, they also will have a harder time making money by gathering resources, since you can't BoS them like now. Then after they got some money they encounter more and more people who use good gear.

Also these changes will change a lot for crafters. One hand they will have to pay more for resources, but will get better bods. GM armour will raise in price and hopefully the runics will drop in price!

    What's your thought?

  2. Idk Fid... I'm still undecided... but it is having an affect on what I choose to do... I use to get out to get enough leather to help support my guild with armor... easy with bos but now... that is difficult and gathering the resource becomes something I'm going to be too lazy to do... without wasting a lot of my precious playing time with something I don't like doing.. I think I'll switch energy to see how easy getting bods instead and just get leather another way..but still a lot of time doing boring stuff....

The interest and activity in doom is ALWAYS good for everyone...

I'll probably kill the Ronins around my Homare House to furnish me with enough gold to buy regs for pots...but I won't waste time going to dungeons for reg gold farming as it became too time consuming...

We just have to adjust... I think it might be fine in the long run when we do.

i can tell you that i havnt gotten a single artifact but i have faith in my skills =} you can be completely decked out in runic/artifact armor and once my character is finished it wont matter.

Ill run naked and just put on the stuff i pick up from other peoples bodies.

What im really saying here is everyone will have the opportunity to get them. Just because your decked out in atrifacts doesnt mean that your not going to die and your stuff will be up for grabs. the right opportunistic noobie comes along and bam already has some.

So realisticly it wont be that bad and on top of that everyone will have the same opportunity to have artifacts if people are using them on the field and not just hording them. Plus you have guilds that like to share and trade internally, noobie joins im sure the guild will help out.

    There's my input

Sounds like a systematic gold sink, which i personally think is good for this shard. Too many people running around with hundreds of millions.

I think the changes for the BOS are good. I don't think they went far enough. I would have removed the BOS from the game.

I am undecided on the doom changes. It might be good, idk. I don't believe arties should exist. I don't believe we should have a Siege Bless Item option. But so long as it does exist, it *might* be better if doom arties drop more so more people can get the good ones to BLESS. Notice the word bless. A big difference from throwaway cursed arties, which I'll give my opinion on in a minute. If the doom drop rate increased so greatly they'll be used as throwaways, than it is a horrible change. If they will still only be used for blessings, perhaps an OK change. But we shouldn't be fighting for a drop rate increase for doom arties. That would only be second best. The change we will need is 1) arties not to exist/a nerf to arties and uber items in general/severe item caps and 2) no major blessable items on Siege, including with the Siege Blessed item.

The BOD changes? I think this is a bad change. These are now easier to get and will make better armor/weapons. This is bad. Unlike with the doom arties, these won't be used just for the blessed option. They'll be used as throwaways. This will make PvP yet more item-based, and INCREASE the gap between the haves and have nots.

Cursed arties? A horrible change. Even if they magincia event remained active forever, which it won't. Any argument that cursed arties are good is very weak unless the magincia event were to remain active forever, which again, it probably won't be. However, even if it were to be, the cursed arties would still be bad. They will GREATLY INCREASE the gap between the haves and have nots. They will make combat MORE item-based.

There's an important distinction to make here. What the cursed arties and bod changes will do is increase the number of players using good-uber throwaway gear compared to the fewer number of players using good-uber throwaway gear. Ok, so more people will be using better items, whereas before the good-uber throwaway gear remained in the hands of a fewer number of people.

This is completely separate from what we are talking about when we say the gap between the haves and have nots will greatly increase. Yes, MORE people will HAVE better items, and the items they have will be better than throwaway gear used in the past. But the GAP BETWEEN THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS STILL INCREASES because of this. Yes, before have nots were greater in number than they will be now. That has nothing to do with the "gap" between the haves and have nots. Talking about this "gap" does not at all consider how many people are haves and how many people are have nots. What most people don't seem to realize is this "gap" is actually considering the DIFFERENCE in power between those that HAVE and those that do NOT HAVE, NOTTTTT the difference in the number of those that have and those that do not have.

Because not only 1) more people will be using better throwaway gear, but also 2) this throwaway gear will be better than throwaway gear used by people in the past, the DIFFERENCE IN POWER between those that HAVE aka those that are using the cursed arties and bod armor/weapons and those that do NOT HAVE aka the people NOT using the cursed arties and bod armor/weapons.......will INCREASE. This means that the "gap" between the haves and have nots INCREASES, not decreases like some seem to think.

I hope that wasn't too confusing...

The cursed arties force people to PvM more if they want to compete, and people already have to PvM a lot if they want to compete. The bod changes will force people to do bods more if they want to compete. The gap between the haves and have nots WILL GREATLY INCREASE.

AND, WHAT PEOPLE ALSO SEEM TO NOT BE CONSIDERING, CRAFTERS WILL BE HURT. That's right. All you crafters who think more runics and runics making better gear is good for you, you are WRONG. Because more bod and better bod gear will HURT your sales of your REALLLLL gear, the GM made stuff. CRAFTERS NEVER NEEDED AND NEVER SHOULD HAVE GOT THIS STUPID BOD REWARD CRAP. THE REAL CRAFTED GEAR IS THE GM MADE ARMOR AND WEAPONS, NOT SOME FANCY RUNICS, BLESS DEEDS, AND INFINITE ITEM SURVIVAL POWDER OF FORT. And it's not just the bod changes, the cursed arties will also hurt crafters.

THE DEVS, AND THE GENERAL POPULATION FAIL TO REALIZE THAT THE RIGHT STEP IS NOT TO ADD MORE OVERPOWERED GEAR TO THE GAME BUT TO TAKE IT AWAY OR NERF IT, EITHER DIRECTLY AS NERF TO ITEMS OR ITEM-WIPES, OR BY SUCH THINGS AS MUCH STRICTER ITEM CAPS.

Instead, the game is taken in the opposite direction, the wrong direction, and it is much less fun to play because of it.

I'd say colored leather rates are going to go up. The days of taking a WW and killing dragons for barbed and such are gone. BOS no longer allow for casual leather farming. I have already decided to no longer farm horned or barbed.

I think you'll see runics rates rise especially the low end ones. But I can also see more people doing the rewards to get the low end runics, thus I can see runic rates dropping. So I guess I am mixed on runics.

IF the demand for trans powder increases, you'll see those prices rise.

Artifact rates will drop but not as much for the influx of Invasion cursed arties, but more from the new drop rate in Doom. Lucky to get more than 50k per cursed invasion artie.

I do have a Doom question. I think I've been to Doom 6 or 7 times ever. What monsters do you need to kill to start the drop count for a character??

They should have done a gold, resource, and item wipe, and a removal of artifacts and a new crafting and loot system where uber items don't exist, along with the BOS nerf, which shouldn't have been a nerf at all but rather a removal. The devs just never take it far enough:(.

mas i agree with you but since its here flood it in. give everyone the opportunity to get it...

Now to PVM, You should always be forced to PVM or Craft or do something other than PVP to be able to participate in PVP. You shouldnt just be able to go out 24/7 and pvp, you should have to go and PVM to get the cash to restock and things like that.

Personally the BOS change affects me very little for the simple reason, I've always sworn they were bad mojo for me. Whenever I took one, I was certain to encounter a red about half way through my pvm session so I swore off them. The only time I used them was when Grot and I farmed together and really as a tamer mage, many of the spots I farm are close to good drop points or places I can gate from. The more I think about UO the more I would love to see doom arties to be nerfed so there is much greater demand and need for crafters and I would be all for the removal of soulstones, they have done nothing but bad things for Siege. *shrugs* Furthermore, I would love to see blessings removed from items such as commodity deeds, bank checks, BODs and their books among other things to make Siege so much more well perilous. I'm not just waiting my time for DF (or at least I can dream that I am)

I really like this change. I think BoS's basically enabled us to mindlessly farm vast amounts of resources relatively fast. Even though I don't get to play often, I really think it's important that people make trips back and forth to the bank. I think it's also a good thing with respect to the fact that not everybody is going to collect their own leather now - it might help businesses sell these things. Anything they add (or remove) to (from) the game that makes people have to travel and associate with other people is a great thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

From the perspective of a person who gets very little playing time per week, I really like the BOD changes. I gave up on the system quite a ways back because I was tired of getting small normal iron/small cloth BOD's of size 10/15 with a Legendary Tailor/Smith. The new changes are very encouraging, and I'm definitely of the opinion that they are worth re-vitalizing my BOD efforts.

    3) Cursed artifact drop: with the on going Magincia event, most of us have like +100 cursed artifacts. This will lead to more people using cursed artifacts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didn't get any playing time during this, so no idea. I would guess they'll prove to be rather insignificant, and eventually end up stored in somebody's house that doesn't want to use them.

    4) Doom: new reward system should allow everyone who can do damage DF to get eventually a doom artifact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tend to agree with Mas that it would be a better idea to re-engineer the whole item combat system to heavily reduce the influence they have. Flooding the market with them is nice, but I've never seen why we should be talking about haves and have nots on SP.

I'd prefer they just reverted the shard back to P15 UO and removed the guard zones. [IMG]

    1. I LOVE the bag of sending changes. Now you can't go out with 1 bag of 30 charges and farm up 17kx30 which is 510k and send it to your bank instantly. If you want to transport 510k out of a duengon you have to do it the hard way! Means more traffic for siege farmers, means more targets for PK's to spot, which means for fights and fun for everybody. No easy farming anymore.

    2. I dont do BOD's, but higher rewards means more runic kits and more runic armor to go around for everybody to get and use! Sounds good to me.

    3. Cursed artis, AWESOME, itll be fun watching people suit up in 5-6 artis and going out to get ganked cause you know they will!

    4. MORE artis for everybody YAY! Only thing i dont like is that doom still takes a gold skull to get into it, i say OPEN UP DOOM FOR ANYBODY to just be able to walk in!!!!

None of these changes are a plus for me...but most of it does not effect my
    solo play!

Will it change other people activities: Yes
    1. More people will farm resources to make powder of translocation.
    2. Crafters may be happy about what they do! Hard to fathom what makes
    crafters smile.
    3. The monopolist will have access to these artifacts, not uniform distribution
as some people think... I suppose I expect that some limited number will be
sold by the Merchants. Gold sink for the have nots. Hope the event ends!
    4. Any increase of Doom activity is good for those who need the items or
    need to pk.

Is it all good for Siege...? No. This change targets the pking guilds and those
who enable pking guilds by crafting.

Well to be honest a lot of the doom arties kinda suck.

There are some good armor items and the Orny of course, but most of the weapons, are only ok to bad. You can get far more effective stuff from strongbox running.

Yah true forgot about that, no BOS means more action in and around farm spots and it also encourage community, because you meet certain people at a certain bank etc.

Yea or people pretend like they use them all the time, except the only time they ever log on a character that is attackable that actually uses the stuff is once in a blue [censored] moon when the group has 10+ people on to actually do something. Or they just wait till 4am-7am in the morning and set their alarm clocks so they can wake up and farm for 3 hours before school/work!

I personally think this is great for Siege... right now we're even teetering at the brink of economic run-a-way. This pretty much nerfs any afk gold farming out in the middle of no where to spend millions on stuff that's not even worth it.

Hell... look at our runic kit situation... a barbed kit goes for what? 2mil?

You burn that kit and see if you ever get 2 mil worth of items off of it... its never gonna happen... that tells you right there we've needed a gold sink for a long time now.

and new players wont have such a huge hurtle or curve to catch up on... which I think is a good thing.
