These Prepatched Quivers of Rage...

    Are they legal? They give a extra 10 damage to each arrow or bolt shot and seem to be a imbalance as they can add massive extra damage over 1-4 shots. Comments? Devs?

    Well I thought I would bring it up again:)While it is not a game ender its more than annoying to fight against. I'd love to hear at the very least when they expect to patch them but I guess that would be unrealistic to release such information.

    Seriousy dumb question I suppose sorry, I have quivers that are not the same. Which is which, in other words, what does a "pre-patch" quiver look like?

    they do not give 10 extra damage a hit. it works out to be about 4more damage per hit.

    I have friends that have them and I have tried it out. The damage is a straight extra 10 regardless of special and hit spell, it should be a extra 10% of damage which would be 3-4hp or so depending upon the strike.

    Go to your local gate zone, which is most likely Yew, and have a look at a few of the archers. You will see one or two who's quivers are different from the ones you can currently get, flag them and check the damage out for yourself.

    on atlantic, my guild was one of 2 to start using them. I've seen nobody come up with an extra 10 damage with them. It's been an extra 4. with heavies it's like 6.

    Now I'm even more confused than before, but sincere thanks for the response. I have two types stored away, both types show 20% damage of each type. From your response, they would seem "pre-patch" which if I've followed along means I guess I'm supposed to page a GM to get them "fixed." JC's post on the guide says:

    Where ours differ, is some show a damage modifier above the damage types, some show the same modifier below damage types. I'm sure some are "old," but would be shocked if all were. Guess I'll remain ignorant and mystified! I suppose whats 4 points between friends :)

    Huh? I just told you: 20% of each damage type = patched.

    Likewise, the segment of the guide you quoted specifically applies to unpatched quivers.

    Though I'd be interested to know how your "two types" differ from each other.

    His are different in that the "damage modifier" is in a different spot, this has no bearing on the items....most likely a slight glitch from when they tried to fix them. And i play both napa and atl, sorry but it don't matter what shard you play on "10 direct damage" will always be 10, its not a missing "10pct" its 10 damage no matter what the resists are, your 4-6 damage difference is from the RGN rolling 4-6 points LESS damage each time they shoot (you know like you have 40-60 damage possible and then can hit for 15-30 but really you hit for 25-40 and you notice a 4-6 damage increase due to the RGN not becuase the quiver gives 10pct) Direct damage is always that, direct despite any kind of resists. Only real difference is that for some reason the quivers allow you to go over the damage cap.

    PATCHED QoR
    20% damage distribution in EACH of the 5 "resists" which accounts for 100% of the damage. Thus if someone has 70 resist in EVERYTHING and is hit by someone using this PATCHED QoR 70% is resisted & 30% of the BASE dmg in the attackers bar is dealt.


    PRE-PATCH QoR

    40% physical Damage & 50% cold damage. This ONLY accounts for 90% of the damage the quiver deals instead of 100%. It was answered by a developer that the "Missing" 10% of damage is actually delivered as DIRECT damage. (Direct damage DOES NOT check your opponents resist)

    Effectively this means that as soon as you put on a PRE-PATCH Quiver of Rage 10% of the damage range displayed in your status bar is now going to IGNORE the resists of whatever you attack. If your status bar reads 100 damage and your using a PRE-PATCHED QoR (obviously on an archer bc they don't work for melee) your going to deal 90 damage that checks your opponents resists & 10 dmg that does not...

    90 dmg vs 70 resist = 27 dmg
    10 direct dmg vs 70 resist = 10 dmg

    Total dmg delivered in 1 hit = 37....

    If instead you dind't use the PRE-PATCH QoR... it would be

    100 dmg vs 70 resist = 30 dmg..

    30 vs 37.... big difference...

    I'd have to say that "4-6" added damge from a PRE-PATCH QoR is a far better description than "10" because this example assumes MAX 120 skills / 100 di / 150 STR etc..

    PRE-PATCH MATH.....

    90% of 79 = 71.1 * 0.3 = 21.33
    10% of 79 = 7.9
    Total = 29.23

    90% of 95 = 85.5 * 0.3 = 25.65
    10% of 95 = 9.5
    Total = 35.15

    Got it now thanks, was a little slow that time :) Sleep deprivation I guess. But Omnius, I've never and won't insult you, and recommend you reframe from doing so as well. Ours all patched then, I had been confused as the damage modifier property shows at the top of the property list on some of ours, but at the bottom on others. I assume the patch is what caused that anomaly to occur!

    I would suspect this is the issue.

    All I was wanting to know is given that they were to be patched what is being done about them? Giving someone a 3 day or 72 hours is unfair just because a quiver they found missed the patch but to the rest of the players who were not so lucky as to find one its a hurdle to overcome while fighting agaist. I shall hold my breath waiting for some type of official response.

    The official word on it is the rest of them will be patched or removed when they have the update, so...expect sometime in sept. heh. So don't hold your breath for to long Picus

    Thank you Vexxed for your even more descriptive method of explaining how it is not 10pct more damage and 10% direct damage.

    heh I like how vexxed and I came across the same conclusion, him through the math, and me through verified game play. Just goes to show that sometimes the formulas back up what a player may be claiming occurs in game.

    it was intended and then it was realized it was over powered and a fix was attempted. like most patching of items some escaped the fix and a better fix is needed.

    Curious, are you sure it was intended? I thought the quiver of rage was always meant to have 20 in all resist, but I don't really feel like finding the information so at this point it is just a thought and not really a fact. Yes a better fix is needed, and hopefully the one they have planned will work this time.

    The bug with the initial item was that the Direct Damage property did not display on it.
