you need at least 60 stealing to join the thieves guild. you say the guildmaster/mistresses name and join. you do know that once you've joined, you can't shout guards on anyone attacking you in fel? [IMG]

not at all - you can gm and beyond without being a member. the benefit is that you may be able to have a temporary bless on stolen item, so that if you get killed immediately you can get ressed and not have to get your body [IMG]
there is some good info in the thieves forum here, or i'm happy to answer any questions i can [IMG]

as far as i remember, that's how it goes/went. i trained mine a good 6mths ago, along with my hubby - we had a matching pair. and i'm pretty sure that's one of the downsides we considered when we joined the thieves guild. could be wrong, have slept since then!

I think this requires some testing
*Dons his thief attire and heads for the nearest gathering of people*

I think the biggest problem with being in the thieves guild is that your body is lootable? Even in Tram I think?

From the faq on the thief forum:

    ALSO:
Once you have joined the thief guild, not only may you no longer give murder counts, but you are FREELY lootable on ALL facets.

The free looting thing always worried me, but ive found nobody in tram ever thinks to try and loot a players corpse, so i never really had a problem with it.
People say thieving is dead, i dont think its dead, its just....limited, i happen to have looted a shedload of trapped boxes that im far too lazy to make myself, and of course the orange petals always come in handy as i hate shopping around for them.
BTW oddly enough i cant get anyone to attack me in the gz [IMG]

Oh come on, thievery is dead.

The PvP thief is limited to scrolls, "griefing" people by nicking their bandages and black pearl, or snooping for uninsured stuff.

(I've never run the borrower in Trammel, but if anyone wants to kill him to confirm the free-looting thing, just let me know, and I'll let him die at your hands.)

Free looting anywhere, as long as you've used the stealing skill, and you're in the Thieves' Guild. It's almost like a perma-flag after that, and you can be looted anywhere. I found this not only with my own thief, but during the Magincia invasion. A few RPers with stealing that didn't stay alive were able to be looted by anyone - call it a harp back to the bones days, but I still check everything to see if it can be looted.

Of course, stealing from another thief, alive or dead, is still completely against the Thieves' code, or at least as to how it used to stand. So I simply warned the person in question to be careful, especially as they had some half decent uninsured bits and pieces on them.

But yes and no, it's pretty dead to be a thief. It's a long time since being naked with a DP kryss was a good template...
