[Imbuing] This is gonna sound bad... but let's say I want an enhanced shaft...

Okay so I've been collecting weapons and bows which have split resists every time I kill a peerless, champ, miasma, etc..

i have some contenders I'd like to POF, imbue, and enhance to make really nice split resists weapons.

Material bonuses from Ash give 10% SSI, 20% lower requirements, and 75% lower weight. But I don't want 3 of my imbue slots taken up by these things, I also notice that Ash is 100% physical.

So if I take my nice split resist bow shaft and enhance with ash to get 40% SSI...

    1) Will it change the bow to 100% Physical Damage and overwrite the split resists?
    2) What is the proper method to enhance with ash so that I can use all 5 imbue slots for weapons so that none of the slots is taken up by 20% lower requirements or 75% lower weight?

    Thanks

I don't play with wood, but as an experiment (just now) I enhanced a 50/50 phys/fire kryss with Dull Copper (100% physical) and it remained 50/50.

I can't remember where it was here, but I *believe* I read at one point that the only thing that is effected with elemental changes is the original physical %, and the remaining (if any) elemental damage variables remain unchanged.

    1. Looks like the answer is no. I did see several bows that were enhanced with ash but not imbued that had split damage types. I will double check when I get off work by enhancing a throw away bow that has split damage..since it could have been that the only imbued bows with a single damage type.

    2. Normally people make the bow, powder, imbue, and then enhance with ash. At least you have better odds of enhancing bows then you do with leather or wooden armour. Some days the majority will enhance and some days you wish for a revert.

Generally (always as far as I've observed) physical damage gives way to elemental damages. Physical's just default.

So it shouldn't overwrite elemental damages. (Read: I've never seen or heard of physical overwriting elemental damage)

Thanks, that's good news - I would hate for a nice elemental split resist bow to get overwritten and be 100% phys damage!

Might need to collect a few because of possible breakage. But oh! These should be nice.

What resist do you think is best for Hit Area on a spawn bow? I'm thinking Hit area Cold, because on the easy spawns it won't matter, but some of the tougher ones have critters which are vulnerable to cold (dragons, succubus, etc).

PS. Watch out for splinters when playing with wood.
