This whole pet bug "fixing" business lately is unacceptable (also client crashes)

    They keep screwing with pets and with each subsequent patch it gets worse and worse. First they break teleporting. Then they break the line of sight targetting. Now pets can't even follow you into your own house when they are flying. I have also noticed that since the last publish my pet will just stop for no reason at all and stand in place. I have to tell it to follow or attack again.

    The issues that they are supposed to be fixing are not even worth bothering with if we have to deal with issues like this. Who cares if once in a blue moon a reaper teleports into your house. Who cares if someone tells a pet to follow before it attacks. Either fix all of the new pet bugs this publish or revert the changes. The way they have been making change after change without fixing the new bugs is just plain unacceptable.

    Client crashing has also become a really bad issue in the last few patches also. It has been mentioned rather off-handedly but I don't think the developers realize how bad it is. I myself have gone from the rare crash to two or three per play session. In a big PVP battle we just had four people crashed at the same time and it got them all killed. If you need data on these crashes you should request it. There has been no word on developers why client crashing has gone through the roof. It is yet another issue which is left completely unanswered.

    One of the bugs allowed pets to be invulnerable while still damaging players.

    That one is hardly "minor". I would definitely not be in favor of reverting that particular change.

    Of course that bug should remain fixed. I didn't even know there was such a bug fixed recently. But the rest of the recent fixes have been for issues so specific and uncommon that it is not worth frustrating players with new bugs they have to deal with every single day. How many times did a Reaper teleport in someone's house and they came here to complain, once per month maybe? Plus that is something that was completely avoidable by not having an open house. These new bugs can not be worked around and they are just ignoring them by continuing on. It has been like 3 or 4 publishes now that pets can no longer teleport.

    I also find it annoying that when you get dismounted using riding swipe, and your pet receives any kind of damage you cant remount the pet till its fully healed. Thus, making dismount ganks more effective. I dont know if that was always intended as Ive been told it was, but I do find it aggravating.

    Sounds like everything you are talking about is having to do with the Line Of Sight issue ... which, to my knowledge, they have not put a fix in for yet. Maybe you should be asking for THAT fix, rather than asking that others be removed ...

    Better yet, maybe we should let them know that the flagging bug is still there ... (tell your pet to guard you, player attacks pet, it flags YOU even tho the other player attacked first).

    That is exactly how Riding Swipe was designed to work.

    That is not the case. Here are all the issues I can remember thus far:

    - Pets can't be sic on players in houses
    - Flying pets can't enter houses
    - Pets can't be sic on players in uneven terrain
    - Pets are stopping for no reason and just stand there when they are supposed to be following or attacking
    - Pets won't teleport when you tell them to come (monsters too)

    I am forgetting one, I know it.
     
  8. I'm glad someone finally pointed this out, I have given up on adventuring with my tamer all together, the amount of frustration is just not worth it.

    Fix the old bugs, but fix them right!

    That shouldn't be to much to ask!

    I'm having the darndest time res'ing my White Wyrm. It keeps saying "your pet can't be res'd in that location" or words to that effect. I try at my house... tell him to stay, follow me, recall to towns, enter moon gates etc...

    I can see the ghost walking so I don't think it's a flying issue... normally takes me about 15 minutes or about 6 or 7 location changes before I can finally res him.

    Seems pretty stupid, but there are so many stupid issues right now I don't know how EA/Mythic can possibly prioritize them all.

    The teleport bug is quite intentional. They did it to stop them going into houses. Is it an acceptable way to handle the issue? Of course not. Pets are now harder to get unstuck, and some monsters are now impossible to get unstuck.

    I for one can't teleport myself into a house, but somehow that bit of code doesn't stop me using the spell elsewhere. The code responsible for that system should also apply to NPCs.

    Is there an easy way to stop pets flying? Monsters stop if they target something in combat... Assuming they aren't nearly toast.

    My personal gripe when it comes to flying monsters is that they count as being "way up in the air", so if your pet is targetting them and they start to fly, your pet will head for the highest bit of land available (as opposed to the monster it's supposed to be hitting).

    Pets still tend to run away when they die, too. But at least they no longer run away when you simply dismount (like they used to).

    The command "all come" used to fix that... it would immediately move the pet to you down from the air. If the pet couldn't pathfind to you and it had magery, it would teleport to you instead of just sitting there. I'm not sure if this is still the case or the recent bug fixes have removed that functionality now.

    Pets no longer teleport full stop. They'll cast the spell and you'll hear the usual sounds, but it just won't move them anywhere.

    I don't know if it makes them land. I seldom use pets capable of flight.

    Pets who take flight once in a home become stuck, unable to move or land, and have to be kicked or summoned outside with a petball or via logging out/in to free them.

    Well that explains why my Dragon is also getting stuck in my house.

    Where is the response to all these issues? There isn't any in the Five on Friday.

    I haven't played my tamer in a long time so I can't comment on those issues but the client crash's are out of control. Hope it gets looked into soon.

    That functionality has not been removed but when the pet tries to teleport, it teleports on "itself". You see the animation and sparkles but the pet lands on the spot where it comes from.

    As mentionned above in this thread, this bug affects all monsters.
