OK. I been hammering away on making my thrower for the last 2 days and he's nearly finished.

What monsters did you test your guy out on? For my swords/sampire I use the Miasma...not sure he'd be the best for the thrower as there's not much room to move about.

Also, has anyone tried the DH with this guy? He doesn't romp around the screen but he doesn't stand there and take it either.

And a huge thanks to you guy for this template...it really looks like a lot of fun. Also, the equipment setup is actually fairly cheap - only 3 enhanced pieces from what I can tell.

    Thanks,

Hmm, I don't really see a point to making a gargoyle anything other then a Mystic Dexer build as things are right now.

Throwing I'd only use for pvp as it is right now. 1.25s dismounts at a 8-9 tile range with 50% HCI is pretty sweet.

Once you can ride a swampy with a gargoyle (PVM Damage Reduction) and feint with throwing weapons then I'd recommend using it for pvm... the Soul Glaive would have awesome damage on the proper sampire build. But since you'll be taking so much more damage then a human/elf would take I doubt it's going to pan out well if you plan on soloing Dread Horn or anything like that.

  3. You didn't mention what sort of Thrower it actually is so hard to say.

    My various Throwers have done:
    Barracoon
    Rikktor
    Neira
    Mephitis
    Semidar
    Abyssal Infernal
    Primeval Lich
    Harrower
    Navrey
    Stygian Dragon
    Medusa
Slasher Of Veils (This was the first thing I did with mine.)
    Melisande
    Shimmering
    Grizzle
    Paroxysmus'

Haven't tried Dread Horn, Oaks or Travesty.

I think DH would be a bit tricky on a garg thrower... he moves pretty quick. Anything that moves at normal speed would be easy on a thrower because you can kite them around.

I did a dreadhorn on throwing wammy. But only one. Better come prepared for that. Was not so easy for first attempt. Maybe easier with more practice then i had then.

I take almost no melee damage unless I do something dopey and get myself blocked in. Usually only damage I take is spell, magical, or ranged... so feint etc is not needed on Thrower unless you are boxed in with something.

I haven't done too much, but here's what I've done

    Barracoon
    Rikktor
    Neira
    Slasher
    Navery
    Blackrock Golem

My current spec allows for 120 swords and throwing... but I am toying with the idea of ditching swords all together and going for Parry. I'm envisioning an evasion enabled thrower dishing out dismounts against mage dumps, 240 pt AI's against monsters, etc... and it's giving me a mind-woody.

I need to find out more about throwing+parry, because it sounds wicked.

You won't parry since it's a ranged weapon. All it does having parry with throwing is negate (or almost negate) the HCI negative when wearing a shield. Not even sure if you parry with the shield. (I'd imagine you do, but you never know with this game).

I went down and gave Navry a try. Quite the interesting visit as I've never actually been there before. Kept tossing webs at me - Does the trap box work on that?

I went in with a boomerang, spider slayer, di 4, 30 ssi, hit fireball, and ML. Skills go up fairly quick.

I also seem to have trouble staying in the right range to throw the weapon. The floating things really seems to throw me off a bit. Will take some getting used to.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

  9. No, the trap box doesn't work on the webs, there is a quest somewhere for an item called an Acid Popper which can remove them.

you can use an invis pot to break aggro while webbed. though a nuke may interrupt you
