I am getting sick of running away from marks........

I am wondering if 110 mage 110 eval with a decent SDI set up would be enough to drop some players? i won't be standing around with fationeer's but if i am stealthing dungeons and see someone scrapping with higher end monsters i would like to be able to murder, i have some OK items that will take me to about 50% SDI and also 40% LMC and 50% LRC along with FCR6 FC 1 and all 70's resist... its by no means a great suit but easy to replace.... i have found even though i am only training my skills still i am able to drop Ogre Lords and such with ease and was just wondering how much success i would have with magery alone as offensive?
(i will prob run with swords of prosp for defence)

do you think it would work?

    Thx

    Absolutely.

Pop out with a Exp>Mindblast, go from there.

I would recommend Weapon skill +tactics instead.
    Pair that with Ninjitsu.
Make him more like an Assassin thief. Poisoning is great to pair with fencing.

I dunno, this is off the top of my head. I've seen some very, very successful Assassin thieves out there.

    I noticed you're on Siege.?

Then that makes it even easier! You can definitely pull this off with just Magery and Eval. Get some bolas in on the kill too so they can't get away.

    You'll love it.

Also, spell damage increase against players is capped at 15%.

That's only against players, there's no cap against monsters.
You won't need all the spelldamage you have against players.

You will want to try and get 2 faster casting though, with a high amount of cast recovery.

If you really wanna do the Magery route, I'd say go ahead and put meditation on their too.

    120 stealing
    100 snooping
    100 hiding
    75 stealth
    106 magery
    120 eval
    99 med

But you'd have to give up ninja + animal form/shurikens/DS.

You have surprise on your side, so mount your ethy and unload on them.

    I like fencing/poisoning better.

Good call on the template there Chad, I am reluctant to give up ninja though as i like the animal forms and also the dp shiruken's do you think it would be possible to run without meditation if i were to perhaps add in some mana regain items and perhaps use some purple pots as well as spells?

Meditation is a doddle to gain so i might just try without first then if i can't do without it i will lower ninja for med, with the lmc and the mana increase items/int increase i am currently at around 110 str 35 dex and 110 int, i will get a stat scroll one of these days, i can get of a fair few spells with a mana dump and with a 0 pen mage wep should be able to evade for a while and use shirukens / purple pots to keep the damage flowing while i passive regain,

i am hoping it will work :)

now all i need is an ethy :)

    anyone selling?

didn't realise was capped at 15% for players :) my spellbook alone gives 25% so i can change my jewels for better mana inc/int increase

Here is the problem you will run into, unless you are fully geared and have 120 in magery skills, you are going to have problems with most of the population on Siege. First off, you won't be able to avoid the dexxers hitting you thus disrupting your spells, and for the most part, most of the people who play Siege as mages, are pretty damned good and PvP all the time, so they can usually outlast you and have a full compliment of gear (factions usually). The other issue is that you usually won't find most people alone in the field...lot's of groups running around these days.

I have found if you want to play a thug on Siege, you are better off to play an assassin, stealth up, and if you want to kill the mark, steal either their cure regs or cure pots...wait for them to attack you, then poison them to death. If you don't wait until they flag, you'll rack up counts quick. Not that you can't play a red thief, but it makes it hard to play one if you enjoy being a town thief.

Here is another aspect to look at. I will be taking the S|S into faction as soon as I get some skills worked up a bit higher...there are plenty of faction players you would be able to steal from and kill if you so choose. If you'd like to join for a while to test factions out...let me know...la

i don't think i could bring myself to leave THIEF to be honest but what you are saying is right, i would need to finish training before i would be able to compete anyhow but I will see how i get on, thanks for the offer though.

    P.S
I posted on your Where's Rico thread too :)

I would suggest that u made a "real" pvp char, and get the hang of what pvp is all about before even attempting to make a thug-thief.

If you are going to have a PvP thief with magery, IMO, you need meditation. Unless you can load up on a lot of MR.

Nothing sucks more than trying to fight with magery and not having enough mana regen leaving you having to wait for the mana to get enough to cast a spell. Trust me on that :)

In the old days, I used to run around with 7x:

    stealing
    snooping
    hiding
    stealth
    fencing
    tactics
    anatomy

Full ring armor, studded leather gorget, war fork, 10 gheal pots, and 5 cure pots. (No helmet. I wore a normal robe to cover up most of my armor. I wanted to look like a normal thief and didn't want to give away that I could fight back.)

    It was fun.
