    I believe it is because UO lacks current eye grabbing graphics and has been on the shelves readily available for years.

    If there was a push, something new to discuss, then that might change.

    EA is dropping $100 million on advertising for Battlefield 3. I can't imagine what they are going to drop on Star Wars.

    Makes you wonder what would happen if they scaled back the advertising by 10% and put that 10% into some of their other languishing properties like UO or Camelot.
     
  4. Not worth the investment. EA is looking at where they spend their money just like any other game publisher. They'll spend the money if it means they'll see a return (think of advertising for Activision's CoD games versus the last 2 007 Bond games). $100 million (source?) for Battlefield 3, if true, is a lot but they expect to see a return on that spending. Spending $10 million on advertising UO? I wish it were worth it. :(

    I don't mean spending $10 million advertising UO, I mean spending $10 million on working on UO.

    As for source, it was the EA CEO, John Riccitiello, he said EA is prepared to drop $100 million or more in advertising in their competition with Activision.

    This only goes to show how 'small fry' UO is to EA. I know people have been saying it for years (over a decade!) but its more true now than ever ... UO's days are firmly numbered.

    Enjoy it whilst you can ...

    Without a serious investment in UO and it's clients to bring them into the 21st century (and the player base kicking and screaming the whole way), UO is unmarketable.

    While the laughable 2.25 min video (that took 3 months to make) may have been a sly attempt at marketing through Curse.com, the current game's graphics would be laughed at.

    While we love UO's systems and depth, modern gamers aren't going to be impressed by sprites circa 1995.

    Like Woodsman said, EA's best move would be to invest in the game itself first, then market later.

    Those videos look awesome :D


    What I think EA/Mythic should do with UO; Do like wow, a redesign of the world!

    We have Trammel and felucca that are 100% clones, why not redesign one facet.



    Also, even UO could make good videos and commercials, its all about money and time.
    UO havent had top priority from EA for 10 years, now i fear its too late.
