If you must know I'm both and I don't live in a trailer or a project for that matter. And my house was paid for in full at the age of 25. That's quite an accomplishment wouldn't ya say? I never really thought of you as such a shallow person before today.

I would have definitely said the former rather than the latter. Congrats on the house pay off, though. Wish I could have done that.

I have no idea what your educational level is. Honestly, if you've declared it, I haven't really paid attention. I was referring more to your liberal (though recent anarchist?!?) slant and obvious hatred of the establishment.

Cheapy - I'm not going to focus much on what Black Magic said to you, other than to say it was an utterly stupid comment. I have, however, seen similar and much worse comments directed towards you, both here and on another forum, which I am happy to see has been closed, btw. I was both appalled and disgusted by what I saw, written by people that I had previously respected. I have to say that I was impressed by the level of maturity and dignity in your reaction and responses.

    You're a class act, Cheapy. :thumbup1:

Well Cheapy I never really wonder about folks' educational background nor their race. ;) Guess it does not matter to me. I have met losers in all educational levels and ethic racial backgrounds and winners too.

Glad your house is paid off. So is OURS, we own it *this our second home* lock stock and barrel since the 90s ! YAY That is an achievement in and of itself for anyone to finally say...this house is MINE ALL MINE not any bank nor mortgage company ! :)

PS college degrees are not any criteria for being logical enough to pay off one's mortgages. My father built 3 homes from scratch, and all he was was *a factory worker* ! He never got any degree being the oldest of 10 immigrant parents' children he had to quit school in 11th grade to get a job to help his own parents out with another income to feed em all. Yet he built us kids 3 nice homes, all paid for over the years !

Don't get me wrong now, I wish I had a college degree, but after starting pre school at age 3...thats 2 years in pre school then another year in kindergarten, then 12 years in grade school....heck that's 15 years of school I needed a break! :)

I would like a college degree though so maybe one day I will go to college and get me one. *shrugs*

. . . .Now, to get back on topic, yes? Cheapy, you are horrible at this game and that is all anyone should need to know about you for a good laugh. Your real life should be of no concern to a player.

It's when you wake up and stop living the fairy tale of thinking you're actually good at this game, that your real life should come into question. Because we'll actually think something is wrong with you-Not acting your normal, clueless self and such.

Now leave Cheapy alone, he has work to do if he wants to graduate from killing crafters to mediocre, half-suited pvper's. You can do it man, I believe in you!

I never actually got my college degree either. Very close though.

It was May 4th 1970 I was supposed to graduate that June.
My campus became impossible to actually study a thing any more what with folks thinkin they could fly out of dorm windows trippin to their deaths. And the one batch torchin the ROTC building setting it afire, bringing the National Guard on over to shoot at us all any of us cuz of the idiots that burned the ROTC building down.

I left...never looked back people on all sides were acting, brainless.

I left on a jet plane, got a diffferent kind of degree and became trained and graduated from a travel industry school. I became a travel agent and airline employee, toured Europe Morocco and beyond, and I also met my future spouse cuz I left KSU behind me.

No regrets ! I went back to Wisconsin U to finish that degree, till it dawned on me clinical psychologist, child advocate has a lot of bureaucratic BS to do and put up with, to be someone that may have to, take someone's kids away from them even before ya think ya should or need to, due to redtape .... me and rules and bureacracy just do not MIX at all times, so I hung it up and quit college the 2nd time. Yet I have spent years with trying to help troubled teens even without my degree *usually in church or foreign exchange student outlets which I've been on.

I can psycho babble diagnose, many folks' issues or thru their art work, anyhow with all that studying, I had had. *but I can not type worth a flip tonite typos spellin errors* :)

I was 4 wks from getting my Art/ Psychology/social worker/ teacher/ combo university degrees. And should I ever return to it and or catch up and refresh/update, I could probably have that diploma in a less than a quarter of a year, but alas some folks just opt to be/remain FREE SPIRITS and can not be bothered to fit in, to become social workers or teachers or shrinks, fighting bureacratic red tape all the time, just to do their jobs. I am one, such personality type ! :)

Kelmo, there have been films though that I get sucked into watching.

One night my son called and I had the tv on here watching said movie. And my son asked me what I was watchin and he said Mom you hate films like that you probably will not sleep at all after watchin that WHY are you watching it ?

I laughed and said 'I got sucked into it...I am the *Jodie Foster chr.* in the movie, so I am tryin to figure out Hannibal ! :) I 'cant help myself' watchin this is like moth to the flame, I told him !'

Wowsers, a house in TN. That must have run ya a whopping $35k.

You're right, he should be renting a trailer and not even think about buying a house. That would be smart.

    What exactly was your point?

  18. Ole Cheapy

    Ole Cheapy Guest

This is almost 2010 not the 70's....not property value aint ridiculous like it is in CA but our cars cost more than 35k hehe. But yes a 100k property in TN is worth about 300k in CA but the pay rate in TN is also lower so consider that too.

My point is the accomplishment of buying and paying off a house in suburban TN is different than buying a house say, just about anywhere in New England. Its nbd.

I used two things stated because they are stereotypes that I picked up in Florida. Not directed at your RL situation or education level, just because the ones I mentioned tend to talk smack, especially about stuff that they have done in the past, but when it comes to it can't put up. As for the house, I suppose it would depend on where you live. Where I'm at now that would be one hell of an accomplishment.

The typical black man talks smack and talks about their past but can't back it up?

I explained what I meant. You also took what I said out of context. But again, I have said my peice toward it, don't like? I care only enough to clarify misconceptions.

Actually he didn't say the white trash example was typical. Nice try though.

I'll add a bit. He also didn't say "black ghetto scum", just black man. On the other hand he did say "white trailer trash" as opposed to "white man".

true; i'll give ya that but my point still stands; Racism cuts both ways but it is rarely acknowledged in regards to certain groups.

You're right, but not in this case. See my edit above. I get sick and angry anytime I see things like this happen; trust me I'd stick up for anyone being insulted like that. :)

As soon as someone is called out and is too scared to do anything about it or someone who thinks they are the best just because of how much gold they have; then I'll say typical white man. What I said isn't racist, its stereotypical, yes there is a difference.

  28. Sweeney

    Sweeney Guest

It's a shame you haven't had the chance to meet any decent non-white people, or if you did, it's a shame their meeting you didn't make you think twice about your perceptions and the inherent discrimination that occurs when you create, believe, or perpetuate stereotypes.

In case you didn't notice, your stereotype assessment was completely wrong about Cheapy, and by now if being wrong won't make you think twice, I don't know what will.

I think everyone here knows Cheapy talks more than he walks.. but that is not the issue, to me at least. I guess I'm just disappointed.

  29. Black magick

    Black magick Guest

lol... a majority of my friends are black, so saying I'm racist or believe that is rediculous. You seem to miss I say typical or choose to ignore it. On here Cheapy acts like what I have stated, no I don't apply that to him IRL, same thing with how everyone else acts on here. Btw, using stereotypes doesn't mean you would discriminate against a certain race, culture, or sex, an example would be that asians are smart; most people just choose to see it that way because many stereotypes can be seen as negative.

My last comment on this, I think my point has been made. Do you tell your black friends that a typical black man's above average writing and spelling ability is only as good as white trash's above average writing and spelling?

    That is enough!
The only 'race' that's relevant on this board is 'elf, human or gargoyle'. Oh and possibly 'troll' :D. We are UO players, our behaviour in game is relevant. Our adherence (or otherwise) to RoC is relevant, Our real lives are not.

I don't care who's black, who's white or who's green with blue polka dots.
Nor do I care who's gay, who's straight or who swings both ways.

Real live has no place in the discussions of incidents in game, which is the purpose of this board.

    Ok I lied.
I spun a direct quote, your quote, into a direct question. Read the top of this thread, word for word, and pay attention to each word you used. (although I admit I exchanged the word grammar for writing.. but I think that is what you meant considering Cheapy's grammar was as good as anyone's. His style of writing is a different debate.)

You haven't admitted your assumption was wrong, only tried to defend your stereotype. When you have facts backing up your claim, you'll have a much better standing in my view. (Kind of ironic isn't it? Back up your statement. Of course it's pretty much impossible given that you threw out an either/or proposition [typical black or white trash], which was shown to be wrong. I doubt Cheapy would lie about who he was.)

If you can't admit your stereotype was wrong, or that you worded your response in a bad way, using discriminatory terms, then you have a lot to learn.

Time to talk to your friends.

  34. Black magick

Read my last reply in the other thread, it shows the context of what I meant.

  35. Sweeney

    Sweeney Guest

The reply you mention has nothing to do with the sterotypes you defended. And the "" you said must have meant the "typical black man" because that is the only reference to "typical" that you make.

Do you have any non-sterotype/racist arguments? Saying Cheapy is all-talk is one thing.. saying he is an ass is one thing.. saying he is just another "typical above average black man", or just a regular "above average white trash" man.. doesn't help your argument at all.

You expect everyone to know what you mean.. but the problem is, we don't all have the same stereotypes as you. Some of us are deeply offended that you would resort to stereotypes.

You can't win this argument.. yes many people have issues with Cheapy, but none of them had to do with race until you brought it up.
