    Hi all,
I used to love treasure hunting back in the days, it was a very neat feature that no other MMO I played had.

But now I can't seem to find treasure maps anymore, and, when I do, treasures are nothing special to say the least, since Vanq and Invul have left the game.

First off, I haven't found a single treasure map since SA launched (I didn't buy SA, I play the old content). An evening at Ophidian keep, killing tons of matriarchs, didn't give a single map.
That's most certainly bad luck, but why don't I find maps from Tokuno islands monsters, for example ?

Second off, UO has gone the loot-centric way :)thumbdown:) like every Evercrap clone down there, and yet treasures yield a few gold coins, some gems (no kidding?), some regs nobody uses anymore and junk armor/weapons not worth picking.
Why no rares (like from fishing) or runic kits of some sort, or anything worth the trouble of killing thousands of mobs to get some maps?

Please have a look at a working system which only requires a few hours of attention to be as great as it once was.

    Thanx!

My newbie treasure hunter finds level 1 maps pretty easily looting low tier mobs, but I really don't know about higher level maps. Have you tried hunting for paragon creatures in Ilshenar?
As for the loot, I guess gems are useful for imbuing (is it so?), while the poor amount of money, reagents and not very useful weapons are good just for newbies like me, and not worth risking your character's life at higher levels, I presume.
Why would I go on a kamikaze treasure hunt for a 30000 worth loot while people are so easily selling/buying stuff for millions.
I love the whole treasure hunting system, but I hope they'll take a good look at it in the future. A lot of people is dreaming of a pirate-based expansion, so who knows? Maybe if we ask politely...

You will get lots of 2s 3s and 4s doing the north room in doom with the guardians, you can also get them from the hag's quest. 6's you'll get from paragon chests off of bosses like miasma. Anything that spawns in ilshenar as a paragon and normally drops a t map (like earth elementals drop a level 1 normally) will have the chance to drop a paragon chest that is one level higher than what it normally drops.

*thinks* I get more maps than I know what to do with, really. That guardian room is great. Fishing is a good supplement for level 1's, only 5's are hard for me to find but I only need 1 to make a tattered wall map (which is what I save all my used maps for, except 2's and 6's).

BTW level 6 chests will net you a shot a special marty. You'll always get a marty from them but you have a chance to get something from the chest you can't get any other way, like candleabra of souls. And even if it's crap you can unravel it (new imbuing skill) into a relic, which I'm sure are worth a bit of gold (havent' checked prices).

  4. What she said. I went from wanting to collect treasure maps to having chests bursting with them in just one hour of being in the Dark Guardians Room. Guaranteed map on each.

Ok, that's cool about the guardians, but last time I got there (er... it was only 1 time, really) I got my bottom handed to me real fast :pancakes:

I should work on my taming skills to tame a Cu or try with my mare/rune beetle to see if I can handle the spawn :)

I would not begin to say that tmaps are useless right now with the new expansion since the "junk" armor can easily be made into magical residue and the prices for that are through the roof. The gems are used for imbuing. Check any jeweler around and see that the prices have gone up for these considerably. Yes I agree that regs are no longer used and you get very little gold but these other two things are great reasons to continue tmaps (or sos's for that matter). I've actually started working these again just to help my poor imbuing crafter!

I was there only once, too. But we did more than well with undead slayer weapons with whirlwind attack. Nowadays you might simply use a conjureres trinket + any whirlwind weapon. (When I was there, doom was somewaht new. We went in with threee ppl. But two of them were macers with former silver vanq war hammers. We ended up with two ppl looting and one killing the spawn. *g*)

As for loot from t-chests. Some items that look like junk might turn into really prittys with imbuing. Especially items with only one or two mods at max intensity (superslayer weapons, rings with 3 fcr, bracelet/ring with 100 luck etc.) Other could become a usefull item for training imbuing. (Or at least ... I am hoping so. I especially plan to imbue magical wands. With mage weapon and sc those should have a nice starting difficulty to gain on.)
