Too late, I think! Most people who are aware of the merge/wipe have squandered their money. Squandered being the apt term -- I went through millions and have only cheetahs. [IMG] I never owned a rare, never really cared to have one, and now that I tried for one I feel like my results were yet another kick in the teeth from a game I have been loyal to for nearly 5 years.

Good luck with your petition, but given that EA wants to buy simoleans from us there is no way they will let you or I keep any money. Of course, TC3 players won't be able to sell money to EA, so maybe you have a chance for that one city. An iceberg's chance in... Well, slim chance.

Yer al little turned around there Dali. EA doesn't want to buy simoleons, they want to sell them (even in TC3). Hence all the payouts being lowered and the means of making money being deleted.
TC3 won't be wiped, so there's no need of a petition there.

I've played 5 years also, and actually pulled all my own rares, and they are all nice. So I know anything is possible if you spend the time on it.

Had this petition been made when the money wipe was first announced months ago I could see it possibly getting a little attention. But not only have people spent a lot of their money, it will not work with the new game being designed. Some people have hundreds and hundreds of millions, if they take that with them, they would potentially be able to sell them to ea for rl money, which would break ea. (And we know ea won't let that happen)

The new buy/sell simoleans via paypal feature will not work if we all have so much money. That is another reason they are removing casino objects from what I understand.

I am not happy about the money wipe but we are powerless on this subject.

5. Donavan -- EA is going to buy simoleans FROM players, as well as sell them, it is all part of the zero sum economy (so-called). Players in TC3 will not be allowed to sell simoleans to EA, which is one of the arguments I made to Lee about letting TC3 keep the casinos. He agreed the logic was right on, but that since TC3 needs to reflect the game to serve as a valid test, no exception would be made.

Players in the production cities will be able to sell their "excess" simoleans to EA. If we were able to keep the money we have NOW, then many could made a very tidy sum from sales to EA. Very tidy. For that reason, alone, EA needs to make sure our coffers are empty when we arrive in EA Land.

This sell back plan was much discussed a few weeks ago. If EA has since changed the plan, I admit to being behind the times.

I would have to agree with the wipe of all money NOT being done. I have played this game for almost 4 years now and earned every penny I own pizzaing my @$$ off and now they are gonna take all my hard earned money. When this merge happens and if they take all the money my account will be cancelled permanently. I will not start all over again from the bottom after playing for this long.I really don't think it's fair at all. They know the ones who have the billions so they should have had it dealt with when it all happend.

First off, if the merge didn't happen, your account along with everyone else's would be cancelled permanently.

Figure it this way, TSO as we were used to it is dead and gone as of this past summer when the Devs rallied on our behalf and was given permission to try to resurrect something positive from the ashes left of the game.

Don't know why people gotta keep wipping this dead horse (cues the dead horse whipping smiley) unless it's just to get everyone upset and stirred up again.

The simoleans are being wiped, there is a merge...players have 2 choices...go along for the ride or quit. Do what you gotta do.

Well, there is already a thread dealing with wiping simoleans so I'm sure this will get redirected.

I agree with what your saying however...
lose money keep everything else...OR
they could have canceled The Sims Online, we lose everything, and then they create EA Land and whoever signs up for that starts fresh.

So personally even tho I agree with you, I would rather keep everything else I worked my butt off for than lose everything.

Yep yep! I go along with your statement.

Think we'd all like to have everything we've developed all these years. However, even though the money is gone, I'm very happy to be keeping everything else.

Yes, I know the option will be there - I'm just saying they don't want to buy - as much as they want to sell.
Keeping the means of making money to a minimum means there will not be much in the way of 'excess' money for them to buy.
The 'business' strategy (which is pretty much standard for on-line games) calls for the ordinary player to play an ordinary game with as much money out as in. So, that if they want something better, the easiest way would be to buy the money from them (EA). If it's too easy to make money, and/or not enuff money drains exist, they could wind up operating at a reduced profit, or worse - a loss.

Ok, I know I posted a response here, but I don't know why it didn't show up. I thought this was a place where everyone's opinion was welcome? Anyway, as I was saying before, people have already said TSO is no more anyway and that EALand will be a new game..I've seen it here on the forum, so don't tell me that isn't what was said. So technically, TSO is gone anyway. So I think it would've been in everyone's best interest if they had just done away with TSO and started fresh with a new game called EA Land. That way everyone could start completely fresh and the people here who support the wipe/merge wouldn't have to listen to any complaints from those of us who don't like it. Just my opinion.

I'm with you...I've been saying ever since I heard about the wipe that it isn't fair and they should've dealt with it when it happened. They let it go way too long. The way things are going, I am considering canceling today. All the rudeness here and in the game has made this forum AND TSO a miserable place to be. Too bad...I've been around since Beta and I will be sad to leave after all my hard work.

I moved all my money from 3 cities to 1 account. It came to just under 200 mil. It was all legit, I made it over the last 5 years playing pizza. I have spent the last 3 months doing pets pulls. I am almost out of money now so I can go ahead and schedule the surgery to rebuild my right hand. If they DON'T wipe the money ya'll will be seeing me featured on America's Most Wanted.

TSO wasn't dead and gone, it had way more players actually online and playing then it does now. Subscriptions may have increased, but actual plasyers being online and playing has severaly decreased we can ALL see that clearly.

The devs weren't called to resurrect the game from its ashes in fact they were called to FIX the ECONOMY that got so over iflated by EA's own NEGLECT or INABILITY to fix the exploit that the users were using to create their billions upon billions. The rest that followed that has changed in TC3 to me is more so the destruction or deconstruction of TSO then anything else.

I support the money wipe but that is besides the point.

What kinda made me giggle about this was...

You at EA want to reconsider this as you will loose a lot of customers

[/ QUOTE ]

and then only 6 people signed total.

And then more people responded here saying that they supported the wipe.

If anything the petition is only proving to EA that they are making the right decision.

So yeah thats what made me giggle.

23. At first I was very much against the wipe , But I have given it so much thought since then ...Where was this game going ? ..Nowhere .. Except to be shut down ..So maybe in order to save this game there has to be som drastic changes ..How much fun did you have makeing that money ? And after you had it what could you do when you had everything ? Lets get back to the game we once loved and stayed up days playing ...So I am ready to have nothing and have fun knowing that the game will be there for a long time [IMG]

Im so sorry but that song and dance is soooo old. You think by making everyone poor is the grand fix of all things, well its not. And if you think that those people that cheated and botted before wont try to again well lets just say I wouldnt be at all surprised if they do. For some this wipe and game change is just another challenge for them to find bigger and better ways around the system.

Wiping all our cash is just to make us poor, force us to buy from EA and line their pockets with yet more of our hard earned rl money. If they had wanted to fix the economy they could have wiped excess cash after that "exploit" had happened, but they didnt do that.

And for those of you that are for the wipe, fine whatever its your right, but its also our right to hate this wipe. For some of us that earned our simoleans the legal way over the last 5 yrs, looking forward to being able to afford a certain rare or what have you without struggling, well thats being taken away. And dont give me the crap of if you dont agree with everything thats being done to leave the game. I have as much right to play as the rest of you and NO I dont have to agree or follow the crowd like a mindless drone.

I Dont want to hear how the game would be shut down if the devs didnt do something, heard it before. Its not that Im against all change, its the fact that a lot of whats being "changed", Im viewing it as more like major pains in the butt changes that will make it near impossible to enjoy this game anymore. Thes arent minor changes to enhance the game and make it better, they are major changes TOTALLY changing the whole game! I dont remember anyone asking for the whole face of the game to be changed to something we dont recognize. We came to play TSO and thats not what we're going to have here after the changes are done.

Im tired of hearing how wonderful the game is going to be, especially since 99% of you dont have a clue what the end results are going to be because we aren't being given the "Whole" picture. Its all a guessing game and rumor mill situation right now.

Stop giving people a hard time if they dont agree with the money wipe just because you want to play follow the leader. The have a right to express their frustrations with how things are going and if you're tired of reading what many of you call "beating the dead horse" stuff then I say just dont read it then. Save your eyesight for something more to your liking.

For the record I do not support the money wipe but it is too late, the powers that be have ruled and we lose. So get to pet pulling or redoing your lots and spend what you have quickly before it goes poof. Good luck to you all..hope you all get nice pink poodles and nice purple turks. And also good luck with the future of this game..I hope you all find something left of it that makes you all happy playing. Its about all we have left right now is hope and thats waning fast for some.

Complain about my post all you want I dont give a hoot. And for those that find posts like this funny or something to run to another site and complain about so be it, I could care less. Im tired of all of the nasty people on here that just want to cause others grief because we refuse to go with the flow. So have at it and enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving

26. Bindy, Bindy, Bindy -- on this Thanksgiving Day, you are one of the blessings I am thankful for having in my life! You are one of the most welcoming players in game, one of the most faithful players, and I am proud to list you among the few (only 5) roomies I've ever had in my nearly 5 years of playing.

I'm with you on this. Like you, I know it's a done deal and at this point we are spitting into the wind. I'm really weary of people who can't tolerate the opinion of those of us who remain pissed off. All the months we spent getting ourselves comfortable so we could enjoy this game, and the rug gets pulled out. Not only will be have no money and our way of life (and enjoyment of the game) be changed, but the game itself is morphing into something alien to what we loved.

Yeah, yeah, yeah: we could vote with our pocketbooks and quit. Don't bother replying to this post if that is your solution. For me, I am paying the subscription to hold on to my connection with Bindy, PB Three, Doodlebug, Betty, CntryGrl, Cherri, -- well, INSERT YOUR NAME HERE if we are friends because I would miss you too much if I couldn't find you in game. We've all had our ups and downs, shared rl and game lives, and the thread of friendship ties us here. It isn't the bells and whistles of this game, the marvelous chairs, the pictures on a stick, or the touted future, but our pasts, that keep me paying my subscription.

I know some of you are thankful for a new game, and you've made it clear you are happy about the wipe. For me, I am thankful for what remains of the "old" game: my friends. They can wipe my simoleans, but they can't wipe the people who make this game special.

Im tired of all of the nasty people on here that just want to cause others grief because we refuse to go with the flow. So have at it and enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving

[/ QUOTE ]

Complain? Why would anyone want to complain? Everyone is stating their opinions just like you said. Plus, its not like other people come into a conversation and assume the minority position, claim that others opinions are flawed and rebuttal with a "I don't like haters" type tone......that would never happen [IMG].

BTW....there have been no posts worth going on "that site" yet. Maybe more pointless replies will result in a chukle or two later on though.

Bindy and Dali,

Bless you two! I've been saying the same exact thing for a while now and been getting flack for it. So it's nice to find others who feel like i do and who are not afraid to say it. BTW, I'm Madam Rose (now Mistress Rose) from BF. My property is Roses and Thorns. Bindy....I've known you forever. ITA with everything you two said. It's too bad that Maxis/EA doesn't agree. The only reason I'm not quitting is because I don't want to lose everything I've worked for....the houses, the items...but it isn't ever going to be the same game again. It's totally different, which is why I said in another thread that they should just close TSO (since it's basically gone anyway) and start brand new with a new game. That way, we wouldn't miss anything. It's already been said that TSO is dead anyway. This will not be the same game I grew to love. What a shame.

[/ QUOTE ]

You make it sound as though the only economic fix being implemented is the money wipe. And you say we will be forced to buy simoleans from EA.

Neither of those is true.

It doesn't help your argument when you base it on falsehoods.

Yes well Milton if you dont take into effect that to earn money is almost impossible to do now in TC3 then I guess you might think that huh?

Anyone can plainly see where things are going. Cut the ability to earn money to ziltch, wipe everyone clean of their cash, offer the ability to buy cash from EA...hmmmmm. Sure I will admit we arent being "forced" to buy simoleans from EA, no one is sitting here twisting sim arms or holding a gun to our sims heads. But given that earning it for ourselves is now dang near impossible to do, go from there and see what it adds up to.

Call my observation a falsehood if you please but It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

I'm not one of those that support the wipe, sure as heck am not. But my views on it may differ a little from my great friends Dali Dalinza and Bindy.

It's not fun losing hundreds if not millions of hard earned cash. **Not** fun *period*. In my case I may as well not have sold that mystic tree for 2.5 million. In any event I'm going to boycott paying for simoleons out of my real life allowance. Instead, I'll make a buck or two by selling my simoleons when I have enough to spare.
Better yet - I'll give my simoleons to someone who could actually use the money made by selling simoleons.

I'm with you Dali, I'm with you Bindy. [IMG]

Aw, Milton...

I know no one will put a gun, virtual or real, to my head and tell me I have to buy simoleans. However, I am betting I'll feel like I'm "forced" to buy them all the same. If I can continue to live my game life in my already built and furnished homes without ever having to rebuild, move, or buy pricey items I'll never have a need to buy simoleans.

On the other hand, it is no fun to be impaired by lack of simoleans. Gracie's Thanksgiving Day Parade in TC3, for instance: building and furnishing a "float" would have taken more cash than I could afford in TC3. I don't have the time to get a sim job to earn cash for such an activity, and I can't sell back unusued items to get quick funding -- I can see that I might have been tempted to dial 1-800-Simolean if the number had been in service.

Bindy and everyone else knows that there are many changes to the so-called economy. I think many players, like me, were not unhappy with the "old" economy. I know that is not a universal opinion, but, honestly, I could have cared less. I sign in, I play my game, I don't buy rares. The effect of inflation from the exploits was, for me, a moral aggravation. It was maddening to know that people could cheat egregiously and not be punished by EA. But, realistically, my game from log-in to log-out each day was not anywhere near as impacted by the runaway exploit economy to the extent it is, and will be, by the "new" EA controlled one.

The exploiters are getting their comeuppance with the wipe. The painful part is that I'm being punished, as well.

I can't speak for Bindy, but I don't think she was constructing an argument that you can tear apart for having falsehoods. I think she was reacting to the personal truths of what the money wipe and "new economy" are for her in her game. As I do. None of us are dumb enough to think EA will change the direction it has taken because loyal players like us are sorry about the turn of events. Still, give us our space to lament. If you are upbeat and happy about the changes, please look the other way.

Amen, Dali, amen.

It's hard enough making money off of gnomes, but finding people to use the code machine is painful.

Jackiee, Milton, we all have our opinions, but it seems that neither of you have been playing TSO as much as Dali, Bindy and I have over the last 5 years.
If you haven't, then you ought to take our word for it.

35. Hiya PB,

I think people who are experienced players who like the changes have different game styles and goals than I do. I know many long time players who are very happy with the changes, including the wipe. All the same, I don't. That is what makes a horse race, as they say [IMG] (Differences of opinion)

Oh, wait...gambling is disabled in TSO now.... [IMG]

It would be great if everyone would take our word for it, PB. I like the idea that I am always right, heh! (I wonder if the potion table can brew up an elixer that will make it so...)

LOL! Well put Dali, well put.

Perhaps it just occurs as odd to us how certain people can have such wildly differing goals. Businesses form the basis of the game IMHO, being homeless can be fun but for only a very short while as you will have nothing to do with the money made off of countless gnomes, preserves, paintings and etc...

I think our goals, though, are along the same lines: have a business that is profitable and enjoyable for everyone. Meet people, make friends and most importantly just have fun. This is a life *simulator*, not a copy of real life in game form.

P.S. If you're not too busy, it would be nice if you could sign on TC1, Dali. (I didn't want to bother you with a PM.)

All I have to say is, OH MY GOD!! You are complaining about being poor. Got news for you, ALL THE PRICES OF EVERYTHING ARE BEING LOWERED AS WELL!!! They are going to wipe the money and lower the prices of everything by as much as 90%. So who cares if they wipe the money, the prices are going to be equally affected.

I am completely for the money wipe and refuse to sign any petition. EA has made up their minds and some petition is not going to change that. If you don't want your money wiped, then you obviously want no game at all. Because without all that is happening, money wipe included, right now, your beloved TSO would have been shut down several months ago.

With all due respect, Ronin Dex, your rudeness to us there was completely uncalled for.

I understand that is likely that TSO would have been cancelled if it weren't for much of these changes. Please understand, though, that most people don't like having their sim-life savings wiped.

Once you respect our opinions, we'll respect yours. [IMG]

I don't expect anyone to respect my opinions nor was I being rude when saying mine. I was stating facts. Facts that it seems many people haven't considered. At first when I heard about all of this, I was mad, I didn't want my money wiped. But after learning all the facts, I completely 100% agree with the wipe.
I don't see how anyone should be able to honestly complain about their money being wiped when they know all the facts and the reasoning behind it. The facts and the reasoning alone make it so that there is no reason anyone has the right to say anything about it. You can take that as rude all you want, but it's not. It's facts. Facts don't lie. I don't need you to respect my opinion, but you can't honestly say the facts lie. That's all I have to say.

Hmph! I find that "You are complaining about being poor" and "Got News for you" was quite rude.

I'm glad that you don't need us to respect yours. I'm not talking on this to you anymore as you have pushed me the wrong way enough.

Okay, lets stop arguing and just state our opinions.

41. Facts can and do lie, Ronin. That is why Mark Twain made his famous statement about statistics: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics."

Facts are malleable in the same way. Lawyers on both sides of a case use the same facts; it is how they argue them that wins or loses.

Ronin, I am glad you are 100 per cent happy. I don't think anyone wants to deny you your happiness or enthusiasm for the game. My opinions differ from yours. In the end, my opinions or those of the rest of us who are not enthusiastic about the things you are don't need to matter to you one iota.

I will only say this once, it wasn't my opinion that you should be interested in, it was the FACTS that you should have payed attention to. Facts are what was stated in my post. You can ignore the opinion all you want, but you can't ignore the facts.

So here is an idea, let everyone keep their money, but they still have to lower the prices of everything by as much as 90%. Nevermind, that's a bad idea.

I'm still for the money wipe and refuse to sign any petition that wants to stop it. Stopping the money wipe only will get the game shut down because a large part of what they are doing depends the money wipe happening.

43. Money wipes come in many flavors. I think EA chose the nastiest tasting one. They will argue that the best medicines have to taste bad. I would argue that if it tastes too bad, the cure is gonna be as lethal as the illness.

There is never only one way to solve a problem or build a solution. The entity that wants to have their way will strongly deny this, of course.

My enthusiasm for the game ceased to exist awhile back. I find the game quite boring but, I am looking forward to when the changes are finished. Maybe then I will be enthusiastic about playing again. Regardless of what anyone said, the facts in this don't lie. The money wipe plays a big part in the Devs revival of the game. Without the money wipe, the game will most likely be shut down. I don't think that is what anyone wants. It is on the blog, I forget where, and has been stated by the devs and is currently happening in TC3, they are lowering the prices of everything but as much as 90%. That is a fact. So could anyone kindly explain any(if it even exists) the benefits of not having the money wiped.

If that were all that was happening, then I would agree with you. But it is not. Someone already mentioned that catalog prices have been cut (more than once, I believe). Plus the ability to create your own objects to sell.

Wiping simoleans and offering simoleans for sale by EA are only 2 parts of the economic overhaul.
