I missed last years too. Now I'm hearing about maps, nests, eggs, and butcher knives? Huh?

So... what? We get a quest from someone? Then we kill turkeys, collect maps, find the nest and return something to the quest giver for one of those cool butcher knife thingies?

Sounds fun. I hope I can manage some time to play tonight. :D

If you are on Pac, give me the map i will find out for you :p

    Just kidding
    Do you need mining?
Last Year NO, i just used the TMAP libraries. This year i am not sure,
since they have randomized the tmap.
is luck used when brushing up the next?
not sure what you meant, but luck is used.
    something about the turkey eggs?
break the larger ones, you are supposed to leave the smaller one.

    * remember to get the brush from moonglow zoo guy (use brush in place of a shovel).
    * there is a bag in nest don't forget check it. the color is very similar to the nest.

  6. Bard an archer, 7 maps in about an hour or so. Lots of deaths, too!

Now, have to figure out how to do the map quests.

This from Martyna if it helps anyone:

Yes, I tried to play for 20 minutes this morning before work.
I was not able to kill a turkey... mabye they have made them stronger,
but one thing for sure, they are smarter, I can not corner them around the house anymore... they teleport....

I wasn't here last year and have no idea what's going on, and nothing in-game even remotely explains what to do.

Kill a turkey and a map or a fragment will appear in your back pack. Three fragments will make a map.

When you double click map, it will enlarge enough to compare it to a world map so you can find the nest.

But first, go to the Moonglow zoo and approach the keeper dude. Say, "Brush" to him to get your tool.

Go to the area on the map and double clicking brush will indicate how close you are to the nest.

IMO, the best way to kill the turkeys...

    Bard:
120 Music, 120 Provo, 100+ Disco (I'm still training disco, and refuse to use illegal methods). 120 Animal Lore is a plus, for tracking their damage levels.

Get two or more turkeys together (as far from a server line as possible - the effects of the lines are BAD - not to mention all credit for the fight is lost to that point is lost every time a monster crosses a line); disco the turkeys (if one of them is already hurt from another fight, only disco the unhurt ones, until they all have about the same health, THEN disco all of them).

Stand back 8+ steps away (or move back that way after the provo step).

Provo the turkeys on each other; if more than 2 turkeys, always provo the weakest ones onto the healthiest, switching their targets as needed when the previous target health drops below the others. Be sure to initially provo each one of them, onto EVERY OTHER turkey in the fight; this makes it to where they damage each other with their area effect attacks.

If done properly, the last two fighting, if you don't add fresh turkeys to the fight, will be both below 1000 HP eventually. Attack the stronger of the two (constantly checking their health and switching as needed) with Mind blast (discoed, their weakest resist is 15-25% cold, and Mind blast is one of the few non-summons Offensive mage spells that doesn't require Eval), until one drops. Finish off the last one with mind blast or a 100% cold bow (or summons, if you feel suicidal). Try to loot the bodies - if a multi-turkey (3+) fight, when one drops, if the others aren't all near death, try to get them to move away from the corpse, then get them to lose aggro on you (quick invis and reappear), to go back and loot. They give lots of feathers (+10% more if you already have a Harvester's Blade), and may have the plucked turkey as corpse loot (according to last year - all mine were either pack drops or from nests).

Don't get your brush until it's time to do the maps (it's a 3-hour timed item, IIRC).

All the maps are in fixed locations, so if you don't have a set of runes yet, mark each place as you go - you'll need the stops again, eventually.

If possible, locate the nearest wandering giant turkey to the nest site, in case you pop a giant turkey from one of the eggs (can't remember if the "hatched" turkeys are aggro).

Keep the turkey feathers from the nest handy - they are vastly superior to invis potions, and may save your life if a turkey aggros you.

Other than that, and the gold, the big ticket items are plucked turkeys (for Harvester's Blades). Everything else is deco. I've got so many of the Cornucopeas left from last year that I've taken to just dropping the new ones by the nests.

I just completely approximately 60 Ornithologist's Maps and did not receive 1 plucked turkey.

    Am I doing something wrong?

I find the map location with the nest and just loot what's in the bag and leave everything else alone. I don't mess with the eggs...

I did get one Plucked Turkey of a Giant Turkey corpse but from the Maps themselves 0-60.

That's pretty over the top no?

That's about what i got last year. I think i got 3 total, 2 from nests and 1 from turkey corpse, out of about 200 maps. This year lookin better got 2 from corpses and probally only killed a hundred or so and haven't even done a map yet(about 50-60 maps)

What are you supposed to do when you arrive at the nest?

Just loot the bag like I've been doing or or is there more to it than that?

So far i killed about 45 turkeys, and dug up 17 nests, i have 0 plucked from the nests but have 7 from graves, it seems you have a better chance at getting thm as a drop as you do getting them from nests.

I just completed another 50 an received 1 Plucked Bird From a Nest, 1 Harrow and 3 Stew from a bag.

I'm not not having your luck getting them off Giant Turkey corpses. I'd be celebrating if I received 7 plucked Turkies.

So I'm roughly 2 for 110. Not sure but I think a slightly bigger bump at least up to 5% or something on those Plucked Turkeys.

I'm not sure how many other ppl have done or how the RNG is treatin' them but seems a bit on the low end for an event lasting only a few days.

I'm batting below 2% right now. Maybe more if you count the actual Turkeys I've killed it would put my plucked turkey percentage right .5%

    I dunno....

So far, 18 maps, one Plucked Turkey (from destroying a Giant Turkey Egg)
