I'm very excited, and quite impressed, with the work dev has done for the upcoming and recent publishes. What absolutely mistifies me though, is how can they go through a vet reward update for publish 55, and not include 11th year vet rewards. I really am baffled. I thought, maybe, just maybe, they were waiting for pub 56 so the game would be beyond year 11 before they were offered. Would someone in dev please comment as to why this occurred?

They just got 10 years what, two months or so ago?

Give them a little time to get caught up.

Sure, I'm with you in terms of showing patience. I try and do so, despite personal failures on occassion. The reason I didn't "chime in" during other earlier threads where folks were complaining, was it did seem a reasonable delay to let year 11 slip one publish to p56, as the game's public release wasn't until Sep 07. Thus p55, which included the vet reward update, was a tad prior to the games actual 11th year. My assumption, which now seems a bad one, was that the 11th year rewards were coded and would become accessible with p56. Silly me. The trouble now, is that "updates" tend to come in batches, so we're not likely to see the year 11 rewards for some time to come if they were not coded already. Dev took the time to make the "fall collection" items for Nov release in Japan/ Dec release elsewhere. While I'm a bit irked that for those of us around since the beginning, that once again, we've been left out of planning - but that is not the point I'd like to convey. With very, very few exceptions, there has always been an envisionable method to dev's decisions, actions, and omissions. My trouble here, and the point I'd like to convey, is that I can't see any method/ justification on this one!!!

    This kiss-butt attitude stinks.

The anniversary - like all the other holidays they've missed in recent years - isn't some sneak attack. They know it's coming. They choose to let it fall by the wayside due to their own poor planning. Don't make excuses for them.

Actually, I just find it sad that in the last three days we've seen so many posts about "They wanted to pull the plug", "If they did pull the plug, what would we get"... then with the publish we saw "Wow this is a big publish!", "Lot's of good stuff for lots of people"... then this.

I really don't care when 11th year Vet Rewards come out... 11 isn't that big a deal after 10... like in a marriage you look at 1, 2, 3, 4, then 5... then no one really cares much til 10, 15, etc... yeah, you say "Happy Anniversary" but it's not that big a deal.

Oh gees, I had/ have no intent of provoking an argument guys. Nor do I wish to be either a naysayer or a smootcher. Dev has done good work of late, so ease up please. I've said it here and elsewhere. Being appreciative of what they're doing well, does not mean there are no lingering concerns or questions. They have let duping slide, and that is continuing to this day. They go through an vet update cycle, and omit the actual year the game is currently in. The first is a major problem, the latter really isn't. Let me try once more. My only questions to any member of our dev team, is what happened, why, and when will you get it fixed? This is not a *****/ complaint, nor is it praise. It's a question :)

Because your wife would be just fine if you forgot an anniversary just because it's not one of the major ones...

Actually, they aren't letting duping slide. They've banned plenty of accounts and at the Town Hall Jeremy mentioned some systems they are developing to help combat duping. I think she said these systems are not finished yet, but that's not the same as letting them slide. As for the 11th year rewards, I can wait on that. No biggie. I'm more interested in event content. The event content will be more engaging for players than having another rideable or wearable. Besides, the way they've done things is to wait a couple of years and then release vet rewards in a batch for the previous two or three years. Just my opinions, of course.

They've been developing ways to combat duping and things for years. It's not happening. :/

Sadly, they are. At least as it has been and is occuring. I've reported now for months, via GM prompts, PMs here, and email a blatant and continuing problem with the runic kits/ tools. No action, and I mean no action whatsoever, has occurred. Now this isn't to say that nothing is happening behind the scenes in terms of addressing future dupes, they may well be working on that. It wouldn't really be the kind of thing that should be advertised publicly, doing so would run contrary to the effort. So I'm not upset that we're not hearing anything, but assure you I'm not happy with what I see happening, last month, last week, yesterday, and today. Human intervention is required pending a coded solution. And by nature, I'm far from "negative." I'll sleep just fine tonight, and sincerely am not angry with anyone. I would like an explanation about the vet rewards though :)

Lets reward the new players instead of the 11 year veterans (and I am one of those)...

Personally I think that dev time is much better spent in trying to improve the game than giving anniversary rewards. They have done just a small step to improve the game after 5 years of almost total neglecting and poor planning. The road is still waaay too long. Anniversary rewards are the last of my concerns.

I dont need any 11 aniversary rewards.Im looking forward to the grafics updateb with pub 56.This is more value then a reward.
So for me the best reward is anotherone. To have the original cd of uo with code of sep 1997 after uo beta as i started with uo in usa and wich makes me the first euroean uo player and the first european online gamer because im from germany.
    Greetings pvp tamer Caci(atlantic.)

    The first Euro player? LOL.
I wasn't in the Beta of Ultima -and I don't know why everyone I ask mentions this when they wanna sound convincing- but let me tell you I was right there, the very first days the game launched.

I'm Greek, playing on the initial servers which were all US-based indeed so I guess you might not have been the first ever EU player. That's excluding Beta since we're talking about being part of the actual game.

I do have not only 1 but 3 CDs since I had also made accounts for my friends here who had no CCard back then. Lost the cases and boxes so the CDs are scratched on the back, still got the maps somewhere though.

Point in this? Not to judge you or compare our UO life-time, just that I still feel we need Rewards! ;) :lick:

And I really doubt you were the first European online player over-all!! Not saying it was me or anything.. Just.. LOL.. :D Get your stories right or get us some solid evidence.
For instance I knew a few Europeans in Mech Warrior or Heroes 1 playing by E-Mail. Just giving examples as to how you can be wrong on this statement.
And did I mention Diablo 1 and Battle.Net? :pPpppP
That's where I got my first char name, "Deathwish" by which I started in UO as well.
