As stratics does not allow any discussion about expoits/dupes etc... BUT on other forums and even on the "illegal" free shards there has been talk about major exploits with recent patches and abilities to alter and recreate items.

I am 100%b skeptical, but it is now becoming apparent, just this morning a user on ATL by the name of (Name removed by moderator) releasing pack horses with 124 1mil checks @ noob haven.

    Just saying.. ****s going south.

we now have a forum to post bugs in keep in mind this is a moderated forum and that means these threads cannot be seen until approved and if a exploit is submitted it will always be hidden from poster views and passed on to the developers to be looked at

Twice now i have posted game changing/breaking bugs to the official UO address. Twice they never did a thing about the bugs i posted to them.

But as soon as they were posted to a cheat site both bugs were fixed in a few days.

Its sad when you have to make these game breaking bugs public to get the Dev team to move on them.

Then I have to believe that your bug reports to the UO address did work. It takes more than "a few days" for a bug to hit the system, be forwarded to the correct person(people), be reproduced, analyzed, logic checked, fix planned, programmed, tested, and patched/published. Sounds to me like they were already well into the process before it hit the cheat site.

One thing I do not understand.....

Unless I recall wrong, I seem to understand that now each item in UO has a unique tag attached to it. I assume, that this tag also indicates when the item was created.

If someone has been duping checks a go-go, then the game items database should have a bunch of checks or other items all created moreless at similar times.

How hard would it be to track them down, delete them all and take care and investigate whatever account is possessing them ?

Of course, time is important. The quickier the investigation gets done, the best the problem can be dealt with.

Sure, it takes work and manpower to hunt the problem down and take care of it but perhaps it is all worth it ??

Dropping duped checks around Haven is an old trick. Even I have read about it ...
The user doing that probably wants to protect his own stash of checks. By spreading them, he gets more players involved. If those should get deleted afterwards, more players are affected. It gets harder to catch the original duper and more players are getting hurt from deleting the checks.

We've been told that things in UO have a unique ID tag for many years now - but since we have also been told that 'lost' items can't be replaced (although sometimes they apparently can...), 'duped' items could not be tracked (but surely a decent search tool on their database could find duplicate item ids?), not that long ago an EM created creature was tamed when it was meant not to be possible and the first response was to ask everyone to watch out for a specific, unusual stat creature - I simply don't believe the assertion that these 'unique IDs' exist. If they do - why are EA apparently unable to track them??

Makes no sense at all to have an identifier you then can't use to .... identify stuff.

Except if this unique ID is attached to a check, then simply putting the check in the bank, cashing it, and making a new check surely clears the old identifier and makes a new, unique, one for the new check - so if these 'unique' IDs exist, there's no need to try create smokescreen of multiple dupes of a check, just 'wash them clean' using the bank.

No my friend, the first bug i posted to them ran on for about 5 weeks after i had posted it to them and it had serious PvP implications. But nothing was done until it was posted to a public cheat site, 3 days after it was posted to a cheat site they fixed it.

The second bug i posted in to them was being abused by a certain PvP guild for a good while before i found out how it was done. Then when i reported it, nothing had been done about it 2 months latter. Once it went to the same public cheat site it was fixed within a week.

I am all for telling the Devs about cheats/exploits that are going on within the game and making the game better for everyone. But if the Dev team don't listen or act in a timely manner it just ends up leaving people feeling ignored and feeling as if no one is listening or cares
