  2. ATM, it is impossible to relive or recover history. That's all this is ... rehashing stuff that will NEVER be back - even in it's original form.

BUT one point I do agree with ... stat loss, even now, would probably do more to liven up Fel than anything I can think of. Why? For the same reasons as in that thread ... it made for tangible consequences to being a PK.

Certain people need to spend thier time playing the game as opposed to sitting on forums bashing it.
And besides, who cares what a forum of self proclaimed UO Elites say.

Bring back stat loss? Have you been smoking crack? That's one of the few decent changes that have come about!
Especially with all this choppy lag. Not to mention the fact that most PKs would need to macro constantly for about 8 years to go blue again.

The answer is easy, close down tramel and gief phat lewts la!

You don't think UO has suffered enough player loss? You want to lose more????

closing down trammel is not the solution and won't ever happen.

stat loss is an interesting topic. the risk in Felucca is probably too high. bringing stat loss (or something similar) back in a thoughtful way might help.

there's more interest in factions now, and the 20 minute stat loss has certainly changed the pvp dynamic.

miners might not mind dying to a PK as much if they know the murder count they are handing out actually means something.

The only players left are those of Trammel. Unfortunately.

This Fel player feels like the Omega man. And come February this Omega man will also be gone.

Would the last person to leave Fel please turn off the lights.

  8. I don't often agree with you on things ... but on these points I do 100%.

A properly thought out statloss/similar program could work. I also agree on the miner (or other resource gatherer) opinion. Counts need to be meaningful once again ... simple as that.

Last time I checked you could still soul stone all your skills off delete and remake a blue in just a few min.

Bringing back stat loss is a terrable idea, closing down tram is insane to even suggest that would kill the game for sure.

Cant fix it. Too much would need to be done to make it worthwhile. It can still be a good game, but not as good as it had ought to be. They would need a uo2 imo.

Stat loss is/was stupid. Consequences for pking on the other hand is NOT a stupid concept. It's just that that specific penalty shouldnt have been so easy to have happen to you. When you can lag out and basically have your character destroyed... its a bad idea no matter how many people you pked. There are 1000 other better tools that could have been given to blue players to help them combat reds. Angle island is a good example of a better idea.

I totally agree here but unfortunately it goes a little deeper. The devs have brought this game so far from what is was its almost impossible to try and turn it back to what it was in its hay day.

I TOTALLY agree. Stat loss was AWESOME. The choice is what made it so good. You could be a pk and have to endure stat loss or you could make money the 'hard' way. It was high risk high reward and it kept the chump reds on blues which kept the amount of pks at somewhat of a low level. Today you have scamps and terrible pvpers on reds that do nothing but house hide and stealth around and gank people. These guys would never have lasted back in they day. They would have been eaten up and straightened out in less than a week of stat loss.

Like someone said putting stat loss back in for reds would be useless because of soul stones and scrolls of alricity garbage.

    blah blah blah.

I could go on and on about how bad this game was driven into the ground and why. The bottom line it is the game is in a whole and the devs don't even realize what a ****ty job they have done.

To this day UO '98/'99 is arguably still the best pvp game ever. AC DT would be its only competition. But if the devs can't realize what made UO unique then there is no hope for any of us. This game will grow farther and farther away from what made it good and closer to what makes us all stay away from WoW.

This game has been running on the fumes of '98 and '99 and its just about on E.

You can make all the suggestions you want but none of it will ever happen simply because there are two polar opposite communities that are now completely divided. (Tram/fel) Trammel folk out weigh the Fel folk because of the shear numbers, but how could Fel folk even hope to get any bigger. All new characters start in tram and are never introduced to pvp. They are harbored and babied in tram and just told never to go to fel, where the bad people are....

This game is just beyond repair.

The opinion of one person from back in the day is worth more than 40 of the current trammies because they understood what made UO great. The fact that these guys are called UO Elites means nothing, they have been there and make a lot of good points. To be honest,, the forums are more fun than this game anymore. Especially with this terrible event ruining the only system I used...

i agree. there should be an option to start in Tram or Fel explaining the differences. well there should have been a long time ago.

That has to be the bigest pile of crap I've read in a really long time.

What made the game great for you is not necessarily what makes a great game.
And, claiming that the opinion of the group that agrees with you is worth even remotely more than the group that disagrees with you is bull****.

WoW..Just Wow..Well first off I totally agree with you. Second..WoW... Even you have the language Filter... :D:love:

    Great post btw :D

My Second comment is this. This silly game has Always been about choice. Always. You could be a crafter a minger a mage a tamer etc etc..

Tram is a choice. Fel is a choice. If you don't want to do it..Don't. It's your choice.

For them maybe. Many, many of these trammies of which you speak seem to be having a great time in UO. If these so called elites claim they know how UO should be run then why isn't anyone listening to them? I'd suggest most people are happy the way things are. Must be a lot more of them I guess...

Or for a shorter response... what a load of utter crap.

For some reason this reminds me of an old Belan the Looter episode:

Here is a thread even you posted in that has an alternative to statloss that might actually add something to UO.

  23. <nods> And in there I do mention that statloss was a form of punishment, right? It is and can serve as a deterrent as well.

Computer geeks and forum posters are UO's elite??

No-lifers come to mind. Also note, it's a hell of alot easier to be negative than positive. (hint)

Your post is nothing more than verbal diarrhea. We all know how people miss the days of easy kills and 2 hit combos that made the game great. UO is and always will be unique because it's Ultima. Not because you could kill people that didn't know to play the game as good as you back in the day. *pukes*

They are harbored and babied in tram and just told never to go to fel, where the bad people are....

myth....funny myth but a myth nonetheless. Those that want the excitement of pvp go to fel. Those that do not, don't. It doesn't get any simpler.

Cheaters keep more people out of fel than any other thing. Claiming anything else is pure garbage.

lol "elites" on a board I've never heard of... alrighty then! That said, even their own rank and file understand:

UO is what it is, TODAY. Either you play it or you don't. I don't think I've ever sat here saying, "Geee I wish Everquest was everything I ever wanted! Oh I miss those days! Bring back [insert ancient game feature or methodology here]!" The only game people still yap about wishing it was this or that or the other thing is UO - proving its value to the gaming community yet again.

I played UO then, and I still play it today, and love it - and love that people loved it so much that they still care to talk about it, even if they don't play.

It's amazing how the monsters of the early years are the ones seeing themselves as the sole survivors making a last stand against the "monsters" (those that chose to make a stand AGAINST monstrous acts).

Omega Man, indeed - the more apt comparisons would be names that would be considered offensive (and are banned names for characters in UO)

With the current state of UO I only see one possible solution.

Compromise, update UO's systems and bring the community back together.

    1. Allow reds access to tram... same rules as everyone else.

    2. Put back order versus chaos. (Outside of guild wars there's no system to PvP with in trammel.)

    3. Allow faction fighting across UO (In every facet/landmass) with the stat-loss to boot.

and stat loss should not come back into the game. Stat loss is a Fel only thing. It doesn't belong on a shard where people can choose not to PvP.

As a general note to the thread here...

I find it ironic that notifies are flying in, pointing to individual posts that are by no means as 'nasty' as the link provided by the OP.

    It's like this....
don't stir the pot and come running to the Mods for 'protection'. :)

Well people tattle on me all of the time. So now every time someone breaks a rule, I will be hitting the Notify button.

    For example, calling someone a "no-lifer" clearly breaks rules A, B, C, and D

If I'm reading rule I. correctly. I assume it's okay to discuss moderator in-action

And it won't just be this thread. I am now officially a tattle tale just like everyone else. Every time someone breaks a rule I will be pushing notify and indicating the rules broken.

and as far as "stirring the pot" i really preferred to use the term Vets instead of Elites but for some strange reason we are not allowed to edit the title of a post or delete threads that we start... so w/e
