So just out of curiosity, I googled up some forums for EverQuest and Asheron's Call. Back in the day these two games, along with UO, were called the "big three" and comprised the only real MMOs in the world. Nowadays Asheron's Call is puttering around with a tiny fraction of the players UO has (seriously like 10k total players in the world or less) and nobody has even thought about EverQuest in years. I mean these are seriously old decrepit games. You know what I saw? A bunch of people talking about their game, what they were doing in it, or how they couldn't log in and they were mad. Normal stuff. You know what I didn't see? "Wah wah, I bet Diablo 3 will kill this game for some random reason!" "Boo hoo, some random crafting change nobody even cares about has killed the game!" "It rained today, I think this game is doomed!" Not one. Not one overwrought crybaby thread where someone goes "Duh guys I just realized it's not 2001 anymore and the game has less players!" and has an emo ragefit. Not a single bloody one. What I want to know, and this is a SERIOUS QUESTION not just hurfblurf, is why the UO community on this board takes on the character of an antebellum southern lady heading for the fainting couch everytime literally anything in the world happens. Why are AC and EQ people so much cooler?
