UO has to have the worst Customer support ever

    after 2 weeks of proving that my old original account is mine and unsure of which phone number and email addy was on the account, but knowing one of them I provided was the right one for an account that has been dormant for 3 years and not linked to any master account, and want every detail of the account. The other account I was able to recover they send me a email with the the hint to the secret word and I send the word back and walla I have my account back. This time its like get one set of answers right, then we will ask you for some more, and gee some more oops that detail is wrong sorry you cant get your account back HAHAHA. I am thinking support is probably one of the bigger reasons people leave and never look back.

    They don't want you getting your old account back because no one wants you to get your Veteran Status!:p

    I tried re-activing my account from 1997-2002 when I made my return and it was a nightmare so I said to hell with it and started over.

    Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm not sure if the new change to the way accounts are set up make it even more difficult to retrieve accounts than before.

    I think with the new system once player are 'in' the system it will be much easier to re-sub.

    Just frustrating to spend 2 weeks answering and re answering. I am thinking with the two very different experieces for the exact same thing, it really just boils down to the individual person in support and how much of a PITA they want to be, this particular one I get the sense just enjoys being a PITA.

    I dont see any reasons for bringint this up,. i got several stories to tell - but, they most fit for the wrongs we made and no ones elses ears...

    The main reason it is so hard and troublesum is that many SOLD their accounts off when they quit ... back when an account was worth a few$. Returning players who kept most of the info and cd from anchinet accounts tried to "recover" said accounts years later...
    I cant tell you the exact number of accounts players here said their accounts were hacked only to find out the person who they bought the account from took it back and stripped it down... one that comes to mind is the Luna house owner of many years... she lost everything as that account had access to all her homes...
    Then you got "fishing expaditions to the CS center" where many calls to get snippits of info had many an account holder screaming as they found their accounts ransacked and worthless to return. Mesanna clamped down on CS after too many happened...
    So I do understand your fustration and I agree that the biling is in bad need to upgrade it to something workable... but thats EA's gig and well............ i dont see it happening anytime soon.

    Put the blame where it belongs. HACKERS. I called them many years ago and all I knew was my account name and they gave the info to me over the phone. But now we have to jump thou hoops and make up passwords that are long and contain caps and numbers and secret codes. Things were a lot easier when computers were not mainstream. The idiots with no life ruin it.

    Yeah I am going to spend weeks going back and forth trying to get a fairly crappy account back that really has jack on it othe than some soul stones and some age.

    It's a shame a few bad apples spoil so much. But yes it's true what Storm said. All too often bad things have happened to folk making it extremely difficult for rightful owners to get their accounts back. Sadly anymore you can't look up your old disk information so unless you are a horder and a packrat like myself you likely tossed all that useless crap years ago in one of the last 4 or 5 moves you did. And I couldn't really say which disk went to which account all I know is I have all the original disks that I installed on my accounts. And thankfully I haven't changed my emails too often so I can most certainly tell them what email I had and sometimes I might even be able to tell them what my CC info was when I started my account. I know I can tell them all the characters on my accounts.... but Sheesh it's a pain. Thankfully for me I haven't ever lost mine or forgotten their info since I haven't really ever stopped playing.

    I can say this though you are NOT alone. There are oh so many in your shoes. Nothing like making it extremely difficult for people to return to UO. Want to know why 100's of houses fell? Because half of them at least could never navigate the new billing system to reactivate their accounts and after their house was more than 90 days overdue they figured why bother coming back.

    Yeah when I came back there was no joy in getting through the billing process hel just getting into the master account was difficult. I began asking myself is it worth it to get this frustrated to give EA money. I do actually have several of the old disc but as you have said I have not a clue which disc goes to which acct. I do imagine a lot of old players that have tried to come back have hit this wall and just said screw it and moved on.

    If you ever have to deal with this its good to know that you will feel good about an account you paid for better than a decade is safe from you using it :)
