[UO Herald] Compassion Gifts Incoming

    Greetings,

    In earnest appreciation for your continuous support through the last few weeks we would like to offer a gift of compassion to all our players. Below is a sneak peak of what’s to come.

    By the end of next week when you log in you will receive one of four new special dyes that we have made for this occasion. You will only receive one dye per account per shard (trial accounts are excluded). These dyes function the same as Tokuno Dyes in that they can be used to tint artifacts and special material items. They come in four different colors:

    Question, do all 4 dyes come with the SAME random drop chance or will they have differing drop rarity ?

    If so, can you please tell us which will be their order of rarity ?

    Cool colors? Sure seems so, to the extent that I am a judge of colors! (I especially like the "Hunter Green.")

    Better than no acknowledgement whatsoever, or better than merely a text apology? Surely!

    Do I appreciate it? Yep! I even like the attempt to use the game's fiction, specifically linking it to one of the Virtues, in the description of the items. Small things like that go a long way.

    I'd also appreciate it, though, if you ("you" meaning EA and the UO team) didn't necessarily expect outrage over the account debacle to subside immediately as a result of that. What happened reversed a substantial amount of good momentum and good will. Not to mention the damage to individual game accounts and bank accounts, which hopefully will be resolved shortly.

    However, if you're smart (again "you" refers to EA and the UO team), you don't necessarily expect that, don't necessarily expect this to be appropriate compensation or expect it to stop the bloodletting. You just want to give us something.

    In that spirit, I say: Thank you.

    Please tell me they have more than one use........ say 50 like the original ToT dyes, I certainly hope so..... be hard dye my suit to match like that with one charge.

    And ...... awesome thank you. Those are VERY cool colors and for once NOT bright glaring neons... Nice DARK colors.

    And I do agree...... it's important we should be allowed to choose the color.

    trial accounts excluded is bs, my brother waited a month to be able to finally create his account, he deserves to be rewarded too. he didn't want a trial forced on him...
    also, that trial would have been up had he actually been able to create his account when he wanted to.

    The team that added in the dyes aren't the same team as the ones working on the billing system, they're part of the dev team who realize the issues that the players have been having and are offering a small token in response such as they can provide.

    yeah so their gonna offer a token gift to those INGAME that dont have any problems.........

    Priorities, not just rubbing peoples noses in it like the announcement of Clean up brittania ect.....

    Well, it sucks that you've had problems, but what do you want people like Grimm or Supreem to do about it? They aren't involved in the accounts process, but are involved with the game itself and have done a part on their end to make some sort of amends.

    Sure I could go on for quite a while griping at the devs for lack of certain... updates, but that's because they are involved in said updates. I can't gripe at them for problems a completely different portion of the system with its own team of techs is having.

    I'm not alone in being one of the many that had no problems till EA did another 'fix for migration'.

    I just find it sickening that all the 'good' news we've been waiting for for months happens when alot of us still can't access the game due to EA's 'highest priority' bs.

    oh and yes i've forwarded the cs number 4 times now (24 to 48 hours my ass) and i'm still waiting for my first responce from EA bs.......sorry cs.

    perhaps they just dont want Vets ingame anymore as they have to come up with something new not just renamed rehued c$%£.

    Yes i'm irrate, a subscriber on more than one account for more than 10 years and i'm treated like some snot nosed kid just logging into WOW.

    Yeah but just think Slayvite ... when your problems are sorted out you'll be able to log in to get your free dye as compensation. Im sure that will be more than ample comp, and you'll be drafting a thank you letter to EA before you know it. /end sarcasm

    Considering the sheer volume of vitriolic threads on UHall during the Account Management debacle, now that the problems are being fixed and the devs are attempting to make amends I expect this thread to be filled with 25+ pages of supportive posts by tomorrow to balance things out.

    I wouldn't have expected that and I don't think the team did either.

    I, for one, feel that I was appreciative and supportive even at the same time that I suggested this didn't really make the matter whole either.

    I say this as someone who prides himself in being negative when I assess that the situation warrants it, and positive when I assess that the situation warrants it: This account thing was bad. They shouldn't expect the Compassion Dyes to compensate for it per se.

    And, honestly, I don't think they see the Dyes that way. I think they just wanted to give us something, and I am glad for it.

    I'm thankful for them... the account migration only affected me a little and really that was only until I got everything set up and never had any login issues, just a couple of errant emails.

    The team obviously didn't HAVE to add in the dyes, but they did as a small token and for that I'm grateful (especially since the colors are VERY sweet).

    Not so fond of the lavendar....... Violet deep would be nicer.

    But the other colors... *smiles*...... those are Awesome.

    I like them all.... though most partial to the blue.

    i still have 1 account with no info on it with no time left that i cant log into.
    i have a 90 day gtc i cant use, i called CS and they cant help me.. they say to just wait.

    how long am i supposed to wait for???????

    Wrong thred now aaron, those in here don't care about those of us that still cannot access the game, they have been bought off by useless dyes and running around ingame buying up all the old gifts ready for CuB it to hit prod shard.

    We aer now the faceless minority that will just be forgotten about and prob end up quitting as we cannot get into the game anyway. :thumbdown:

    it is worse than u think some of us playing on free time, neither asked for or know why started with cs gtc and now just showing game active set date to set date this is after cs gtc expired and had billing closed

    Since CS has been handing out gametime like crazy to people havin issues, Im sure they will make it right with you ONCE the systems fixed and they can turn your orphaned account back on. Til then, just calm down and remember, ITS JUST A GAME. Honestly how do some of you people live when you throw rage fits over Entertainment...

    and before ya post back "im payin for it so they owe me" blah blah blah, Again they are sure to make up for your lost playtime just give them a chance and mute the whinin


    also seeings how a majority of players had no issues with the migration, why shouldnt those people praise the devs for the free item they will get?

    Firstly, thank you for the 'more formal acknowledgment' (my words) that things could have gone better over the last few weeks. I have closed half of my accounts, but this kind of gesture is positive.

    Secondly, for those that say 'this is just a game,' for many this is an escape from a real world and a form of entertainment that is preferred.

    Soccer is just a game.. Hiking is just a walk... Sightseeing is just a vacation... yadda yadda yadda.

    For the person that it is just a game, must be a pretty relaxed world they live in and I'd likely be happy to trade into your shoes.

    The dyes are appreciated as is the acknowledgement that the process was rubbish.

    However we don't really need more variants of dyes or more items. We need bug fixes and all the gameplay affecting things. We also need to sort out this damn tax situation and get GTC working again so I can resub my accounts

    As have many, I must state my thanks for the ocassional nod to the players and the patience we display...if not universally. These are the things we need every now and then to keep our morale up and our interest in anything non-UO (like family and life etc.) down!

    Is it too much to ask that we have a choice of color? I like two and hate two. That is 50% Disappointment Skill (do they make any alacrity scrolls for that?) and extra game time not hunting while I attempt to trade it. Thanks for the opportunity to input.

    I like dyes (Yes I am an addict)
    For some reason I have been hording them since tokuno dyes came out.
    I appreciate that they did something to acknowledge that we had some (a lot) of difficulties with the account changes.
