This is why the new website is just stupid. I submit an event to be announced for this weekend and because the person who does it is out of town, it isn't posted. The whole design is a huge step backwards and they are wasting their time on it.

    Search - removed
    Automated events - removed
    Shard updates - removed

Flashy flash graphic rarely updated - added

How about some INFO we didn't know???

Well that was... uh... quick and painless.

Just two questions though, since I don't usually play a crafter:
    1) What is meant by "checking box"? (maybe it's the language barrier, I feel silly asking this...)
    2) How can I say "I have put a lot of work into this skill" when it requires reading a book?

I assume it means there is an error on one of the crafting menus ... but is it KR or 2D? I have this urge to go poking around on my mason until I find a way to disable him. Then I'll sit back and go "hunh ... *that's* what I shouldn't have done".

Getting to 100 carpentry is a bit of a grind ... although I also remember finding those books was a long adventure for me, weeks of poking my nose a few inches further and further into Ilsh until finally reaching the town.

Aha! A use for all that blackrock I've been hoarding! Yippee!

But, does the reactivation of blackrock, mean the potential reactivation of Black Rock Elementals?*laughs maliciously*

What you're missing is that when balancing=up, it is spun as new content rather than balance :)

I didn't see any mention of pets and balance..... but maybe that's me....

I thought we looked at this sort of balance before but they called it something else then.... Don't recall what that was...

At any rate.... I think it's alright....

Well I'm thrilled that Heartwood quests are on the slab. To me that is the best input that devs are trying to curb scripting. Now if community collections could be revamped to exclude or greatly reduce the point value of resources.

Specifically concerning things like treasure maps. I'd like to add a point value to the things you actually get from the chests. The more mods/higher intensity each item, the more points it's worth. Same for fishing.

For the museum I would like to see points given for things relating to the current tier the museum is on. Necro items (scrolls, spellbooks, bone armor, etc.) And change the rewards relating to those themed tiers.

So while on the necro tier, your rewards were cool necro specific items. Paladin items for Paladin tiers... on up the tier list.

This would work in an interesting way with tier decay. Get to the highest tier and the market gets saturated with items from it. Demand drops for items from that tier and points decay to a lower tier. Where those items might stay in demand but switch to a higher tier if folks get too many of them taking them out of the system.

You could change point values dynamicaly as well. If too many of one item gets handed in, the point value drops.... raising the values of other items in the tier. As you get close to the top of a tier, all point values start to decline.

Really there are alot of cool things you could do with that system.

Hey folks take it easy. Joanne's out because of a death in her family. I think we can put aside UO long enough to respect the loss of a loved one, amiright?

Think you may be discussing proficiencies, a diminishing return idea originally suggested (I believe) by MR Tact, before he left.

I think we need a good balance pass, call it what you want to call it, and then leave well enough alone! We keep running the cycle, stronger higher damage items...Then monsters take a HP boost to keep em from being too easy...Peeps yell about it, so newer stronger better items are brought in, to offset it, stronger monsters are introduced...

It can be a neverending ridiculous cycle. Thats why on some shards, the Crimson Dragons are still freely wandering towns. There no reward for killing the monstrously overpowered thing, so why bother?
The roleplay of it, sure, that's one reason to do it, but after a couple of months, that makes no sense either, to the roleplayers...

Introduce Proficiencies if you want, and then leave stuff alone for quite a while. Fix stuff like treasure hunting, fishing, tinkering, etc. Bring back crafters and crafting, but not in the way most people think they should.
Insurance, should be scaled back, 8 items per char max...in six months, drop it to seven, and so forth, down to a bottom of about 3 items. Peeps can leave the uber stuff at home then and hunt and fight in easily replaceable crafted gear...kinda like how it used to be ;)

People are already hoarding items for SA to unravel. I am afraid it's gonna totally mess things up. Better be careful how many mods are allowed on an item, or yet another cycle will begin.

It is gonna be real interesting to see how this all plays out :D

    Now, back on topic :)
