Hullo to Robert. It is good to meet you. That is not a bad looking patch! And more live event. Always good.
We have been rather wondering about the possibilities of further official communication this week. Should we continue to send questions through the regular channels?
* Shard Selection
o 'Help me pick a shard!’ option added to assist users in recommending a shard based on location.
o Updated the Latency column to show a graphical display and mouse-over values
o Added a Population column
* The in-game Atlas is now resizable using the dragable handle located on the lower-right hand corner.
* Fixed issues with patches of terrain not loading correctly during travel.
* Fixed several client crashes
Reasonable... other than some of us have had the resizable atlas for months now
Hopefully a sign of MUCH more to come.
But...............I haven't gotten my mathematically-challenged head around the last unravelling change yet!

Does this mean we are no longer able to see how many uses we have left on our water pitchers?

I'm glad you posted this. Assist keeps telling the patcher I am up to speed for some reason, so I have to start the client as a standalone to patch now. Wierd.
what the hell.......... so they're making it even harder to get relic frags, so instead of it being super hard to get them its now super duper hard to get them ! some of us still have whole suits and weapons we need to imbue !

Um increased Navrey hit points again, and put web attack back in, it better stop dropping power scrolls or CC like crazy. Who asked for more HP again, no one wants to hunt it now, why make it even harder. I know its suposed to be a champ peerless type thing but shouldn't you scale loot while your at it.
As for the relic fragment thing, no idea what it was but is it intended that we are not meant to have them and only the ones who beta tested and got the loyalty up fast using tricks they learned then and got 120 super fast only allowed to have tons of these. Sheesh just take them out of the game and say we can only make 80% intensity instead.
Its hard enough to get relics.
I think they intend to make it so that you have no way to craft them.
The only way to get them is via use of runics or via unraveling very high end loot.
If you are careful though - you rarely need to use these. Just craft items with low level runics that have the mods you want that require relics. Then imbue the non-relic mods.
I've been burning DC hammers for superslayers and then slapping on some crazy leech mods and such. MAYBE adding SSI with relics.
All seems quite good - and I'm intrigued if "Fixed issues with patches of terrain not loading correctly during travel" means the dreaded black areas in the 'Enhanced Client' are gone. Hope so for the sake of the EC players.
And adding a 'population' column? Will be interesting to see if it's just a 'heavy/medium/light' category, or if at last we'll get a clue how many people are playing......
Remember that, depending on the code they used, you will probably have to "un-apply" your current resizable map or face having your client go wacky
Oh I'm fully aware. I have a couple of changes that need to be uploaded to the Exchange anyway, so once I see what I need to do for the Atlas, it will give me a good reason to put out the next package
it would be quite fair if they reset all imbuing to 0% and then just reimbursed people say, 10mil if you were over 110. why not? otherwise you have a handful of people that took the easy way who can now charge out the ass, and the rest of us who will take forever to raise imbuing.
Or we could wait to see what the change actually IS before we start the complaining.
The huge patch size is caused by the addition of these 3 new animation files:
I wonder what's in there. New creature art?
Old art in a different format?
UOP is the file extension used in EC... MUL is 2d, unless that's been changed.

Currently I'm part way through rebuilding this PC, and only have the 2d client installed - but all those files arrived in the 2d client directory....
try art is for turkeys
ok, looks like they're swapping the file type over to UOP so that the two clients use the same system... interesting.
still waiting to use my retouching tool what exactly did this patch do for it ???
last publish they removed the trick to create relice with smith skill,but you could still make it via bows.I guess they removed that last trick now.
It will be runics or lot to get relics.Im totally worthless in getting relics via lot so I go runics all the way.
Is it fair that you need to have crafting skill to make relics?
Not sure,but it was way to easy to make relics before.
But I rather use my smith to get relics ,its him after all that needs it.Peerless hunting with a smith is no fun.

The bad thing is that it goes from very easy to extremely hard if you dont have runics...I dont even count lot as a chance to get it.
Why cant there be a middle way of difficulty in UO?

Most of the files dated 11 November that have arrived in my 2d directory are indeed .mul files though..... so it's not a simple 'swap' yet, or even close (there are WAY more .mul files, in quantity and size, than .uop) by the look of it.
Well I found a turkey...all I can say is he's mean!! But Cool looking.
If they changed the 2D Client so it uses the exact same animations as Enhanced Client, then they wouldn't have to manage 2 different art packages.
Maybe they will do the same as Third Dawn where they combined both clients together to one install.

So I guess I need to appologize to everyone for posting how to do it with bows in the craftsman forum. Looks like that got nerfed too.
They should put on the disclaimer that this game is a comedy because the most interesting part of UO is laughing at the waffling the dev team does on a patch by patch basis to crafting.
If you don't like the system just wait till the next patch when they really F it up.
Im quite sure that is was never meant to be possible to create relics with standard resources.
They really should put in a new way that makes it easier to make relics than described above and harder than the really easy ways that now have been nerfed.
How come I still don't have a blessed tag on my race change tokens.
My problem with the Relic Frags is that what they're doing seems completely counter intuitive with the Imbuing system.
1. The "rare" ingredients have been made consistently EASIER to get through various means (questing, turn-in exchanges, mining, lumberjacking, fishing).
Relics have been made consistently HARDER to get as methods of obtaining them are being removed (luckily I do have a runic method at my disposal, but still, the point remains)
2. The "rare" ingredients do NOT get consumed on a failure because they are the "rare" ingredient.
Relics DO get consumed (at 100% consumption) on a failure because they are "not" the "rare" ingredient.
3. The "rare" ingredient is used only at the top end of the intensity scale.
Relics are mod dependant and are needed for ANY level of intensity of those specific mods.
Just seems completely out of whack to continue making relics harder and harder to achieve.
Only on Test Center.
so what's the problem? without relic frags you can make some pretty cool stuff. so basically the only thing they're doing is making it so the really, really top end stuff is hard to get.
alright so you have to settle for hit fireball 50% instead of hit lightning 50%.. not that big of a difference. this makes it so everyone can have good equipment while still allowing for something to strive for.
then again... -hands everyone a million relic frags on a silver platter-
Because I'm not sure that the system was meant to have a harder and harder to acquire resource to be able to put a mod on an item AT ALL.
Upper intensities? Certainly, but AT ALL?

Some of the maps are not working properly, sorry if its a spoiler but I don't know how to say it with out saying it. In the exact location and getting wrong location for clue. Please check the maps Devs.

the following is not a joke. I started anew, and re-beat kings quest 5 before 2d finished patching. this thing borked custum UIs more than the last. I cant wait til this thigns outta beta
