[UO Herald] Worldwide Release - Publish 67

    Welcome to Publish 67!

    We are pleased to announce the release of Publish 67 during normal maintenance hours tomorrow, August 5th, 2010. There are many excellent improvements and additions so be sure to check them out in-game and within the notes below!

    In addition we have a few patch notes for this afternoons patch in support of the release of Publish 67.

    Don't know why they don't mention the Siege Rot Cap changes in the notes.
    People should know about this.
    No more daily cap to how much skill you can gain. We still have the RoT thing after 70 but now you can gain as much skill as you like all day long.

    Can't find this in final changelog

    # Upkeep cost for Tribulation is lowered from 16 to 11
    # Upkeep cost for Despair is lowered from 18 to 13

    One thing about the bard changes. Is the bonus the same just as long as its over 100 or does it become a bigger bonus the closer you are to 120?

    What happened to the bard tweak that was done after publish 67? It is not mentioned in the patch notes....

    Exactly.

    Since the change is primarily for non-Siegers it should´ve been in the notes.

    Before you could only gain 2.0-5.0 points per day depending on how high your skill(s) were. After this change we still have the guaranteed RoT gains but there is no longer a cap on how many points you can gain per day.

    So if done right, you can complete a character on Siege much faster now...

    I have a couple of questions and perhaps they can be answered by the Origin folk. First, is the Bane/Ophidian war still going or was this deactivated? Second, is the Meer/Bane war active?

    I'm sure one of our many exploiters figured out some way to trick an NPC into thinking they're actually Shadow Heater Shields and this is how the Devs deal with it.

    Why not? Did exceptional ones give a better bonus? If I remember correctly they don't, All it did was cause issues with stacking.

    During testing on TC, wasn't there an update that mentioned something about adding regular reagents back into the loot for treasure chests? I can see getting rid of the scrolls but the regs were quite helpful to some of the newer members in the guild who were working up magery or alchemy.

    It's been done. 2nd item from the bottom of the list just prior to the EC mod notes.

    The chests will still have the gold, regeants, & gems as treasure among the trash items in the chest.

    The old days when these chests were buried must have been really impoverished considering what people buried and hid away as treasure. rolleyes:

    I'll try Thunting with my Mage Thunter to see how it goes, and if the new mob setup is a pain, I'll dump the 4 120 bard scrolls on him (Less than 3 million total <g>) npc train him, and see how he does then. Haven't played a full bard with disco yet.

    Europa, after maintenance. My bard book show 16 and 18 upkeep cost. So that change missed completely. :sad3:

  30. Hmmm I guess I will have to play around with it a bit, seems rather confusing to me at the moment... Abilites... Spellsongs... One abiltity active? Both spellsongs active? Can I even use discord the way it was? or is it all spellsongs now?

    Ah well thats what I get for having a baby and not playing much. sigh

    But did you also try to use the abilities? Maybe the upkeep cost was lowered but the Devs forgot to patch the client files to reflect the change in the spellsong book text.

    Another this to test is to verify if both Discord spellsongs can be used at the same time at double upkeep cost, this is also missing from the Publish notes.

    Its nice that spellcasting no longer interrupts spellsongs.

    I'll try to simplify.
    There are 3 'abilities' ie, masteries. One for each bard skill. You can only have one of these active at a time, but you can swap them by doing the relevant quest. When you have one of the masteries you can cast both spellsongs that are related to it.
    These are an addition to the normal use of the bard skills.

    So, as an example. If you had done the quest and gotten the peace mastery you could have both peace-related bard songs active, provided you had enough mana to sustain them. You could also use peace, provo and disco in the normal way.

    It could be more nice with some info on how the new reduction for having bardic skills above 100 counts (and for how much) and whether that includes musicianship or if its only the real bard skills.

    So um is everyone on board with this random treasure hunthing location thing? coords hunting in 2d doesn't really sound fun? Actually it sounds very tedious and annoying after the first 20-50 times. Everyone really looking forward to that? I just don't see how unless people are masochistic though that woudnt surprise me in uohall.

    I have a suggestion regarding the maps, I've been spending 15 minutes with GM Mining hitting the chest. It would be nice to be able to double click the map and get the following messages:

    'The chest is within 20 paces'

    Then have it go down to 10, then 5. When you get to 5 you start digging with your GM Miner.

    Eh. They should have never stacked. But then again I guess peeps can just use scripts. I just liked my cook's name on them ;D

    There's always one in a crowd... :)

    But I admit, I have a love/hate relationship with stacking. It's horribly "unrealistic" and contributes to the abuse of consumables, but it's so damned convenient.

    noticed some other changes I wasn't expecting with this patch. My menu gumps for my tools (mortar, smithy hammer, tinker tool, etc) now comes with a stripped background with a decent amount of opacity.

    Text sharpness on gumps (guild, tools, object handles) has decreased.

    Both these changes have made it harder on the ol' eyes.

    I'm kinda sad about them losing makers mark as well. It wasn't game breaking that not every apple would stack. There's a reason devs gave crafter makers marks. It's quite disappointing to see it being taken away.
