Im not sure if the answer to this is in another thread but, does EVERYTHING have a vending penalty now?? I was putting seeds on my vendor and the vending penalty was 200g... Isnt it bad enough we have to pay our vendor every day so it doesnt disappear? Now we have to pay even MORE to put stuff on our vendors??

I agree with you i feel we already get charged too much as it is and now they are adding a vendor penalty just a bad idea if you ask me.

The vendor penalty is to prevent people from circumventing the vendors commision by removing items before the game can take its commision.

Unfortunetly it's not working right. It's too much of a pain. who cares if someone takes the time to get to there vender everyday to change the pricing. Stop punishing the other players. Besides this new vender thing is still easy to work around it so it's really just punishing the regular players.

The Vending Penalties are FUBAR... not working as designed... we're just waiting for someone from EA/Mythic to own up and say "You're right, they're not and we're redoing or removing in 57..." either way... it's not worth running a vendor right now.

I beg to differ with you. Regular players don't remove their items to avoid vendor commission. I did get hit with a vendor penalty when I decided to not sell a bow I had on a vendor. The penalty was 3gold. I thought it was very strange. so I do agree it must not be working quite right.

Yeah I had some black seeds on my vendor and took them off cuz they wernt selling, decided I would grow them myself. Now the vending penalty is 200. Not that it matters much anyway, since they arnt going back on. But I dont like it.

Perhaps if you detailed exactly how the vendor penalty is currenly working we'd be able to compare to how we think it should be working.... You really can't say something isn't working right if you have no idea how it's supposed to work in the first place.... On a side note I think it's perfectly ok and was needed. With the search utilites that are out there simply pricing your items skyhigh insured that more people would be seeing them... Now you pay for this tactic... (that's if the vendor penalty is working correctly) I'm guessing it should be something to the effect of a fraction of the daily Vendor fee is assigned to the item if it's removed before that fraction would be collected... I think they said there's a half hour grace period.. so Time on Vendor >= 30 min Means taking the item off is going to effectively charge you for 1 day on your vendor...

    Anway...

Getting stung with a vendor penalty everytime I reprice and item is not acceptable.
EA, remove the vendor penalty and simply change the vendor pricing to charge every ten minutes or even every minute instead of daily. Then people can't circumvent the charge by pulling things off once per day. No one is going to stand by their vendor and pull and replace items every minute. It's a simple solution. EA just needs to implement it.

I agree, it's a stupid "fix" to a small problem that impacts more players than were causing the problem in the first place! And no, it's not working correctly. I've removed items that had been sitting on my vendor for several weeks to lower their prices, and I've been charged that vendor penalty, although that was not what was supposed to happen. And it seems to happen randomly. Some items I'm charged for, and some I'm not, even though they've been sitting on the vendor the same amount of time.

Why punish all vendors for something only a few were doing? Of all the real problems in UO, why did they take the time to "fix" this one?

With the vast amount of gold that has flooded the game in the last few years, I wouldn't complain over 200 gold pieces.....For those selling items for untold millions, well, you have no value on earning gold, and deserve what's coming if you remove and return items to avoid costs.....

they are trying to limit storage because it is one of the few things they can use as a marketing tool.

Well its not just the 200 gp, Its just the whole thing all together. I mean I have other stuff on my vendor besides seeds and the vending penaltys are as high as like 3k per item. Its just that the seed was just the last thing after a bunch of items that I got annoyed with.

You're not getting it. Most of us aren't selling items for untold millions or trying to get around the system, yet we're the ones getting penalized. The system is NOT supposed to charge us for items that have been on the vendor for several weeks, yet that is what it is doing. It's not working right.

And it isn't just 200gp for one item. I have 34 vendors, only one of whom is in Luna. A lot of them are completely full of items. When I periodically re-price a vendor (as I do fairly regularly to keep my goods at a fair price), that's a lot of items I'm removing and restocking.

This has been discussed with details on what is happening including this thread. The vendor penalty is not working as intended.

they should just remove vendors from the game all together. there is still enough people out there complaining that there is no more community interaction out there. This would kill two birds with one stone. No penalties for anyone, and more interaction with players.

Running my shop is one of the biggest draws in the game for me. I've been running it successfully since 1999, and I love it. I love everything about the crafting experience from collecting the resources to crafting the goods to meeting the people who come to my shop and chatting with them and roleplaying my characters. They know where I am, so they know where to find me. And they keep coming back because they trust me. That's where my main interaction comes from.

I would hate to hang around Luna all day spamming what items I'm trying to sell, which would be the only way left to sell items without vendors. That's no way to build a clientele and run a business. Or would you propose taking everything to ICQ or messenger to find buyers and sellers. How is that creating interaction within the game?
