edit: I was wrong. Vendor Fees were already reduced and are currently equal to fees on other shards.

Would you like vendor fees to be reduced by 1/3 their current rate on Siege Perilous (to match the vendor fees on other shards)?

If vendor fees are reduced, more people would be willing to load their vendors with more items at higher values. On one hand, 3x NPC prices for every other item on SP makes gold more precious in general and encourages the sale of player crafted goods. On the other hand, 3x vendor fees does nothing but discourage player vendors from selling anything very expensive for too long, discouraging the sale of player goods.

Lower vendor fees = more player vendors = more items for sale all the time = good for the shard?

    Do you agree?

As an owner of furniture shop (near Yew bank), I like it.. But I dont support it because it would reduce gold output from the game.. More gold = more inflation. We have to make oppisite things - to make gold dissapear, then SP economy would be healthier. May be better to build casino hehe?

    What Freja said.

As far as I know, our player vendor fees matches the prodo fees.
The 3x prices on NPCs is still in effect though.

I just tested it... and you're right. Weird. I always felt like I was getting squeezed by vendors.

Well, what do you think about a reduction anyway? Would it promote more vendors anyway and get people off of Stratics for sales? It's the Stratics sales threads and empty vendor malls that gave me this idea in the first place.

    Not necessarily.

If the total prices of all the goods put on all the vendors on the entire shard were to triple, the same amount of gold would be taken out of the game overall. It would just be spread out over more vendors and more people. If the total would exceed that number, then even more total gold would be taken out of the game.

I'm all for reduction as Siege players don't use vendors for storing of items. Sometimes, it take long time to sell items and it do easy get expensive in fee.

    This.

On low populated shards, it is common that the time to sell an item is considerably higher and so, vendor's fees inevitably add up.

    Not only that.

On less populated shards, chances are that items must be priced cheaper than on shards more populated to stimulate players to buy them.

So, we get a fearsome combination of items priced less but taking more time to sell and thus, costing more in vendors' fees as compared to the same item being sold on a vendor on a more populated shard......

This means, sometimes, highly reduced profit for the vendor.

The problem with vendors' fees, is that they were set up when UO had a higher population and thus items moved faster.

In today's UO, with shards less populated, I think that vendors' fees should be reviewed (read: reduced....) across the board.....

Only Atlantic, perhaps, should have them stay at the current level because there items on vendors still move at a decent speed thanking to the higher player population......

I propose making the vendor fee a one time charge based on item price....I dont place anything on a vendor that I price at 100k or above, namely power scrolls.(120s) Its not worth it to let those items sit in the vendors inventory for more than a couple days, & with the new vendor search working now I feel like the reluctance to stock items still keeps most of us selling the old way..spamming in chat or forums or just watching for players looking to buy a certain item .

There was a decision many years ago, via a vote by Siege citizens, to completely blow off the idea of having a separate trade forum. I think that was good...trade the old fashioned way...throw your stuff on a vendor and hope that somebody shows up or just put a FS post in the forum here. I'm of the belief, maybe incorrectly, that our vendor fees were lowered somewhat...to where exactly I don't know.

I know nothing about the new vendor search but I can say this...if anyone puts anything remotely worthwhile in a FS post in the forum here, it will be gone in no time. There is no need for vendor fee finance reform.
