Vendor fee is 9x normal shards, not 3x as it should be

I made a thread on U_Hall and when Fayled Dhreams there calculated it, it turned out, that our vendor fee is bugged and infacts 9x instead of 3x as it should be.
No wonder most vendors are gone.

---Edited when I made a mistake -----
Normal shard fee is start fee 20 gp +1 gp for each 500gp = 21 gp for 500gp of wares
Siege fee is start fee 20x9 gp +1x9 gp for each 500gp = 189 gp for 500gp of wares (180 base + 9 gp for the 500gp stuff)

My post on U_Hall

Oh come on Freja, Siege is the "hard shard" pfffft, a 40% daily tax rate on the price of goods that may or may not ever sell, what is wrong with that? [IMG]

I know for a fact I'm not paying 40% in vendor fees. I don't know exactly what it is, but it's not 40%

I know we are not, but that is how the math as Freja posted it works out. [IMG]

I actually think you need to subtract the 180 daily base rate. I have operated free vendors quite a bit, so I am very familiar with paying them all 180 GP per day to stand around and hand things out to people for free.

So it is actually X GP per 500 GP of goods + flat daily rate of 180GP

(*edit:* Use Fayled's updated equation to find "X": (item price/500)x9) = Xgp)

5. sorry to dog ya freja ... but precision is my curse
prod shard 20 + ((item price-500)/500) = Xgp ....
(prod shard STARTS adding 1gp per 500, AFTER first 500 ...not checked.. but... 499 price MIGHT not cost more than "base 20gp")
Siege 180 + (( item price/500)x9) = Xgp

[IMG] thats all ...

Oh!
Skylark SP ... [IMG] might want to check your math on that "40%" figure ... [IMG] just saying ...

LOL...since precision is your curse, the 40% was a meant as a joke, but the math is actually fine: 198/500 = 40% as far as I know. It just isn't actually what we are charged. [IMG]

Sorry I made a mistake, it's:
Normal shard fee is start fee 20 gp +1 gp for each 500gp = 21 gp for 500gp of wares
Siege fee is start fee 20x9 gp +1x9 gp for each 500gp = 189 gp for 500gp of wares (180 base + 9 gp for the 500gp stuff)

You will always pay 180 a day. If you put an item at 500gp on, it will add 9gp to the fee = 189 for that day

This is what I found with a rudimentary search on UO.com...I'm not gonna do the math because I do math at work all day, and I'm home now. But if this is not how the numbers play out, then it's time to start submitting bug reports.

Vendor Changes Jul 24 2001 10:24PM CST
Vendor Fee/Rent

Vendors will now need to be paid every 8 hours (real time).

The vendor fee will be calculated as: (combined value of all objects on vendor (either their true value or the value set by the player, whichever is higher)/500) + 20

If the vendor's owner is a murderer, the rent will be calculated as: rent = rent * number of owner's murder counts

If a vendor is on Siege Perilous, the rent is multiplied by three (this is cumulative with the above values).

Thus, if you have no murder counts, are not playing on Siege Perilous, and you have 0 items on the vendor, your rent is 20 gp per 8 hours of real time.

If your vendor holds items valued at 1000 gold, the fee is (1000/500)+20, which equals 22 gold per 8 hours of real time.

If a player has not paid the vendor fee, or rent, the vendor will take the rent fee out of the money it has earned from sales. If the rent has not been paid and there is no money left from sales, the vendor will destroy itself, along with any goods on the vendor at that time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah wait! From here...

Vendor Upkeep:
Since vendors don't volunteer their time to sell your trinkets and doodads, you'll need to pay them to keep them happy. As such, upkeep charges will continue to be withdrawn on a daily basis from the vendor’s account. The account consists of gold collected by the vendor through sales, in addition to gold given to the vendor from that vendor’s owner.

In addition, the vendor menu will only trace real-life days (and not "game days" and "earth days"), and murderers will no longer be required to pay extra upkeep charges. (The tripled cost for the Siege Perilous ruleset will still apply, however.)

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok, now I'm exhausted...

My guess is the bug is located somewhere within the code that tells the vendor to charge once a day, not every 8 hours as it used to. Perhaps that got left out of Siege...?

Wierd, I had never seen this 8 hours thing before but it would explain the extra 3x when 3x 8 hours are a day.

My vendor do not say each 8 hours but each day.

I would love to know if an emty vendor on normal shards say 20gp a day or 60 gp a day
My emty vendor say 180gp a day

So the question is, do we pay each 8 hours or each day

Good to know, that reds do not pay more on Siege

The 8 hours a day was the norm up until sometime between those two updates I posted, which was when they changed it to daily.

They changed the way vendor charged. They used to show the fee charged per UO day. People used to think the charge was for a real day and they would lose their items when the vendor quit. When they redid the vendors Ea changed the charge per day and if they ran out of money the would leave the items in the moving crate.

I just placed a new vendor on my test plot on TC, the daily charge, empty is 60 GP.

With a 500 GP priced item, the daily fee is 63 GP. The fee stays the same all the way up to 999 GP price.

At 1K GP, the daily rental fee is 66 GP.

With a 500K GP priced item, the daily fee is 3,060 GP.

So, on regular shards, it is adding 3 GP to the daily cost for every 500 GP worth of goods stocked, + 60 GP flat daily fee.

So...Siege is in fact charging 3X the rate of regular shards, since it is charging 9 GP for each 500 GP of stock.

So, your 500k item breaks down like this...

(500,000/500)+20 = 1,020

Your vendor is charging 3,060/day, 3 times the stated amount...

Methinks the 8 hour charge is still in effect...across all shards!

Right, but production shards appear to be charging 3X what *they* are supposed to to begin with!

That seems to be the case. Going to the 24 hour day as opposed to the 8 hour one really gained us nothing, as the same fee is being charged effectively, just the timing of the charges changed. It just lets us work pulling the items off easier I guess to beat the timer now. [IMG]

The production shard vendors must be charging the (by 8 hours a day) all at once on the gump, because when I look at my empty vendor on Say Origin, it has a cost of 60gp per day.

That means that Seige is at the correct 3x production Shard rate.

I guess asking for lower vendor fee won't work than, even when it still kill my vendors.

How about a changes it to weekly fee so Siege vendors will charge 180 gp + 9gp for each 500gp of stock a week.
To prevent "pull before charge", the vendor will be paid forhand so vendor owners can't "pull before charge" after 6 days to avoid the weekly fee.
To allow fre fast trade of expensive items and give the ovner time to correct mistakes, the vendor will først charge the owner 30 mins after the item are placed on the vendor.

This changes won't really effect a busy vendor who sell the items within 24 hours but for a vendor away from town, that easy can use a week to sell an item, this will help alot.

19. "Good to know, that reds do not pay more on Siege"

unless they changed something red definitely pay a ton more to hold a vendor, that's the reason i got a blue account:/

Oh do you have a screen shot from a vendor with a red owner and then get a count and see if fee changes?
I know in the past it was very bugged and a red vendor owner would pay an insane fee, but it should not be in effect now. If it still are in effect, we do have 2 bugs that need to be fixed

I checked the fee on the playguide;
The first 500 gp worth that you have for sale are covered by the base fee the Vendor charges.

For each additional 500 gp worth of merchandise, the vendor charges 1 gp maintenance fee per UO day.

Example: With a base fee of 20 gp and 5500 gp of merchandise for sale, the vendor charges 20 + ((5500-500)/500) gp per UO day. This works out to a total of 20 + 10 gp, or 30 gp.

So all shards do pay 3x to much,

21. actually ... "we" had some "bad data" in the KB [IMG]

from my hall reply:

uo day 20 for the vendor 1 per 500
3 uo days per 1 real world day
60 for the vendor 3 per 500 = 63 RWD [IMG] good thing I mentioned the "check my math, Wizards"

eh? [IMG]
(checked this(^above^) bit on my own and with a blue char on prod shard ...)

The KB HAS this little bit:
With a base fee of 20gp and 10,000gp of merchandise for sale, the Vendor will charge 20 + ((10,000-500)/500) = 39gp per UO day. Since there are 12 UO days in a real day, that would come to 468gp per real day.

[IMG] KB appears to be WRONG then ... huh?
(math works with a 3x3=9 ... Doesn't work with an empty vendor ON SIEGE charging 180 per day WITH 12 uo days per RWD ... [IMG])

SO .... MY math error discovered
KB error indicated (formula wise... number of UO days per Real World Day on Vendors)
Siege IS at a 3X rate of normal shards
Normal shards (and Siege) have VENDORS counting 3 sosarian Days per Real World Day ...[IMG]

Siege 3x 3SosarianDays of 20gp per Sday = 180gp per RWD(checked)
Normal 3SosarianDays of 20gp per Sday = 60gp per RWD(checked)

Siege 3x 3Sdays of 1gp per 500gpSales = 9gp per RWD(checked)
Normal 3Sdays of 1gp per 500gpSales = 3gp per RWD (checked)

(checked)
??

[/ QUOTE ]
could have spotted that...IF ... some one would have posted a screenie of an empty normal shard vendor
or
a screenie of a TEST of the formula from the KB ... ie. One 10,000 item on a normal shard vendor ...

22. the flat rate covers some of the goods on the vendor

23. (All totals are RWD for 1rwd)
499 = 60
500 = 63

999 = 63
1,000 = 66

9,999 = 117
10,000 = 120
(KB says: ) 20 + ((10,000-500)/500) = 39gp per UO day. Since there are 12 UO days in a real day, that would come to 468gp per real day.
(New math says: )
20sday X 3 = 60rwd
+
10,000/500 = 20sday X3 = 60rwd
(20 x 3) + ((10,000/500) x 3) = 120rwd

99,999 = 657
(20x3) + ((99,999/500)x3) = (60) + (199.998 x 3) =(60)+(597) = 657
100,000 = 660
(20x3)+((100,000/500)x3) = 660

999,999 = 6057
(20x3)+((999,999/500)x3) = (60)+(1999x3) = (60)+(5997) = 6057
1,000,000 = 6060

The divide by 500 Decimals are DROPPED ... BEFORE the multiply {above: (199.998 x 3) =(60)+(597) = 657 }

Siege vendor with 47,000gp to sell
((20x3)x3)+(((47,000/500)x3)x3) = ((60)x3) + (((94)x3)x3) = (180) + ((282)x3) = 180 + (846) = 1026

*whew*

btw
1,026 / 47, 000 = 0.021829787234042553191489361702128
1/47 OR one forty seventh ... [IMG] is NOT 40%
40% of 47,000 = .40 x 47,000 = 18,800
[IMG]
A vendor ... with 0 gp to sell ... on siege ... 180 rwd ... yes? [IMG] thats 100% of the rwd vendor cost to stand around empty
Call that "overhead" and drop from the calculation
9gp per 500 per RWD ... 9 / 500 = 0.018 ...[IMG] aka 1.8%
NOW
put the overhead back in
180rwd + 1.8%
180 + (47,000x0.018) = 180 + (846) = 1026
180 + (500x0.018) = 180 + (9)
180 + (1000x0.018) = 180 + (18)

(freja's hall post)
1x item of 500gp = 189 a day
2x item of 500gp = 198 a day

all i know is its about 3% / day so anything you put on your vender will cost same amount after 30-40 days. what an overcharge
