If they don't want to sell to me that's fine. I quit worrying about it. It's a rare day I can't just get it somewhere else. But it is annoying.

I always stock in 2d as well. When I come across a vendor stocked in 3d, I'll leave a quick message about it on their bulletin board. If it changes, great... if not, my gold is their loss.

I *takes off his shoes* sixth this, I will usually switch to the EC to buy from these vendors though. Only because i tend to play Low Population shards, and usually have no other options.

I'd Just prefer that players stock their EMPTY vendors! It's a pain in the tush to find anything if 99% are empty or just have separator bags/boxes.
If you dont want to stock take them down, if its your gold sink then for the sake of looking just change that name to private bank.

if you stock your vendor in EC, just understand that your only buyers will be those that play EC. its pretty simple. its also pretty limiting if you are actually trying to sell things to players of this game.

your vendor looks like a flea market threw up in the top half of your pack, and if you have more than ten items, people in the CC cant see what they are hoping to buy.

EDIT - look, your link in your sig shows your dedication, but really man, its a 4 year old thread begging for the EC to be fixed...

And I didn't start with an empty pack...if you stock a fresh vendor, every item is on top of the others so you can't see anything. It's rather frustrating!

I wish that when a vendor doesn't have anything actually "for sale"... They have some sign over their head saying "Empty" or something. Nothing is more annoying than looking around shopping and vendor after vendor has NOTHING actually for sale.

I am kinda glad I don't switch back and forth between the clients. On the ever increasingly rare occasions that I actually use the 2d client I can't even remember how to log out right anymore... or chat or party or anything else.

I also find it extremely annoying to try shopping and everything is in unlabeled bags.

Oh I agree that for the 2d users I"m sure it's a royal pain... I also think any and all vendors should think about their customers point of view more. I prefer if they don't use bags at all...

Doesn't matter if its bagged or not. The last time I tried to buy t-maps, vendor search showed a vendor holding 23 ingeniously maps for various shards. When I got there there was two maps showing, both of them Tokuno, which I totally am uninterested in. Being a sucker, I bought one to see what was under it. Felucca! Score!!! so happy. one under it was Tok again...so I quit.

Barok, if ALL the CC users boycotted your vendor, they might become extinct before the dinosaur ;) And besides, in my world, I cater to the customer, without telling them to do it my way or the highway. Just saying...

You've said this several times and I have to point out...that we are ALL 2d users...the EC is NOT 3D though it wants to be when it grows up ;) lol no just kidding...there are pros and cons to each client but they are both 2D, I think the only thing that really affects players in both clients is the vendor thing.

Though I do agree with you on the empty bags/no bags issue...IF you stock solely in the EC client, you get what Mrs. Keep got...vendor search for an item only to find the vendor has been stocked in the EC with no bags and has maybe 40 or so maps on it but you can only see the top 2. I've had that issue with power scrolls on alternate shards...trying to find a 110 of something and find the vendor has been stocked in the EC and not wanting to spend 10-100k a pop for whatever scrolls are on top of the one I really want hoping that it's not at the very bottom of the stack!

In general what I see is a jumbled mess in the corner when people don't bother to stock their vendor right.

Bags? Why? I can see where there are situations for them. But often there's nothing in them. So annoying opening bag after empty bag. Usually people could just get rid of the bags and put the 3 or 4 items in the first layer of the vendor. I often don't bother looking at more than one or two bags. If I open one or two empty bags I don't bother looking at it any more.

Back to the topic. If your vendor doesn't want to sell to CC users, which is about half the game, it's no skin off my back. I get the impression the vendor has no idea what they're doing. I'll often leave a message about the situation on the bulletin board, but if I check back later and the vendor is still a mess I quit going there. Why should I waste my time? I sell stuff also, I'm more than happy to have people come buy from me when they can't buy from you :D

stuff looks really different in EC. i would never buy rares in EC client because many of them look horrible unless in CC. Especially in vendors many of the best rares just look like little blobs. I also never shop an EC jumble vendor unless something is so significantly underpriced that its worth switching clients for.

its illegal to make your client 3d. if you are doing it, probably not best to post here about it :) Only legal 3d aspect to UO was the third dawn paperdoll. It was actually decent 3d for its time. shame we dont have any 3d anymore without illegal / unsactioned game engines.

The EC isn't an upgrade. It's just further proof that the "latest, greatest, most modern, absolutely unbeatable, beyond awesome new game client of this century!!!!" (fan boy dialogue) can prove to not be worth much and not as good as what it was intended to replace.

<shrugs> The Devs tried to make a good new client for UO, they just weren't as talanted at doing so as those who made the original client. Nice try guys. Did toss in a lot of neat bells & whistles. Better luck next time.

The problem with bags is that 9 out of 10 are empty. If you really have something on your vendor you want to sell and you want folk to buy then show it off on the TOP bag of the Vendor. Don't make me jump through hoops and hurdles to see what the heck your selling... if that's what your going to do... chances are I'm not going to buy it.

When I go shopping I might look at one or two bags with my mouse... if they are empty I close the vendor and move on to the next one... I don't like to waste my time searching through empty bags. If you really wanted to sell something it'd look like it when I open up your vendors pack. That's regardless of whether you fill your vendor in the EC or the ancient CC... Honestly that doesn't matter at all to me but here again if you were a good vendor who cared about selling your items you'd already be conscious of your customer... and you would stock your vendor with the CC or using the "Legacy" mode in the EC.

Bags are a pet peeve of mine and have been for years. I want to see what you've got to sell..... not a bunch of stinking bags. Now I can see putting things in a bag or gift box if they are big and bulky or hard to see on the background of the CC backpack... But for the vast majority of junk... don't use bags. If you REALLY want to sell something..... put it in the top.

(Responding to a few points above in no particular order)

Empty Bag Frustration is just one of the various reasons why I started using the 3rd party search sites (now ingame vendor search). It's also a PITA regardless of which client you use.

As for people purposefully stocking in EC to support EC players, all the best for them IMO. That's their choice, and I support that. The 2d/Freeform backpack is simply too physically tiny (unless you're still on a large CRT maybe) for modern resolutions IMO.

Personally I try to avoid renting vendors to people who I know only stock in EC without using that legacy container option. Every time I've had a renter do that I get at least 5 complaints within a day about it.

Stocking only in EC not only cuts your customer base in half, it also damages the popularity of whatever house your vendor is at, and could possibly make it harder to rent a vendor if you ever need one.

As far as the empty bag thing goes, that is so frustrating to have to dig through 10+ empty bags looking for the one that has the item you need in it.

Same thing with overstocking a vendor, I know space is limited on vendors but dumping 100 powerscrolls that are all the same color on top of each other with no organization at all is also pretty annoying and deters people from trying to find the one they want to buy.

For some items I'd rather see them stocked in the EC. Take PoF, or Runics for example if they are of the same type, but yes I can see it being an issue for a large number of items. Instead of asking people to avoid the EC how about this.

EC Folks, Stock once using Legacy Container view. Switch to EC and look at the empty spacing in the grid, that is the space between items in Legacy Container view, use that as a template for future stocking in the EC Grid View, it will let you space things out enough to make them easy to view by people in the CC.

I stock in EC and do just fine.

I don't think of it as a gold loss. More supporting other like minded players.

Once the majority is in flying cars. We wont hear or care about the cries from those complaining about road conditions. It is an ancient concept. If you cannot keep up with the herd, you are FOOD.

My low cost modern 32" flat screen does not support 2d play.

I still don't understand why people still say...I don't play in 2d or...like Warpig...your modem doesn't support 2d play...isn't the EC also 2d? If you want to distinguish between the two...it's CC and EC....not 2d and 3d because the EC is NOT 3d....that's the hardest part for me going from a 3d game back into UO lol, not being able to rotate my camera or look up at the sky...I know you can zoom in and out in the EC but it's just not comparable, I like to take nifty screenshots of the sky..the sun and clouds...I've always wondered what the sky looks like in UO...or being able to rotate and zoom in on my character to see what her face REALLY looks like lol.

But Having to go back and forth between the 2 clients while shopping is a pain...though I don't come across a lot of vendors that have stocked in the EC thankfully I always seem to find what I want on EC vendors and have to pass because it's buried under everything else :/ Thankfully that happened to me yesterday but the one thing I needed was in a pouch and I was able to JUST see the very corner of it under a bunch of other stuff and was able to buy it.

It's just an annoyance and something for people to complain about that probably won't ever change, we just have to adapt :)

"probably won't ever change, we just have to adapt :)"

And that is one of the reasons why we are losing players...no matter what kind of junk is tossed on us, instead of holding their feet to the fire and making them fix it, the diehards just say adapt! There comes a time when people get tired of adapting, over and over.

We all have to adapt in everything we do. I don't care for the EC at all, but I adapted and downloaded it because I wanted to do some things and can only do them in that client...I don't like having a cheap pre-paid cell phone when everyone else has smart phones and iPhones but I'm broke so I had to adapt. People had to adapt to the changes in UO, imbuing etc....we have to adapt to climate change from winter to summer...do you wear shorts and flip flops in 10 degree weather? Adapting is part of life..in and out of games...

This particular issue...how would you suggest they *fix* it? We have dedicated CC users and we have dedicated EC users...that won't change...so really can't be fixed...so we have to adapt...by either switching clients when we find an EC stocked vendor or not buying from that vendor at all...that is adapting.

I'll try my hardest to buy what I need from an EC stocked vendor but if I can't see it I move on to the next vendor..by adapting I am cutting the frustration out of my game play and making my time in game more enjoyable to myself.

I disagree that people should only stock vendors in the CC, we have a lot of people who only play in the EC and that is unfair to them...so we (CC Users) have to adapt to the situation..which is also unfair, but the only solution I can see without taking one client away and alienating a lot of people lol. IF you or anyone else has a way of fixing this particular situation I'm sure they'd love to hear it...but because of the way the EC is made, vendors will always be a bit off in the CC unless you take the time to do what Nexus suggested and try to space things apart to make it easier for everyone to shop if that works.

Again just my opinion and ramblings.

I prefer the CC but primarily play EC. I am not promoting either one because I use them both for different things.

    EC:
    • I have a 23 inch monitor and it bugs the heck out of me to have my game window take up only 1/6 of my screen.
    • CC in-game macros are pita to set up at times and my razor nostromo doesn't always play nice with the CC macros or UO Assist macros.
    • I really like the bars of the EC, the tiles in the CC are nice but I have accidentally deleted them too many times or ended up moving them inadvertently when clicking them or other things in-game. Pinco made it now where you can drag tiles like the CC only they lock in place. One can really customize Pinco's UI to resemble the CC though that doesn't change how things appear between the two clients.
    • The EC is very customizable and great for journal and chat for those who re stubborn like I am and hold out on glasses even though they are starting to need them. I love being able to enlarge the fonts, journal and chat size, and all of the bags and anything else that I want to.
    • How long will UO Assist stay updated? I worry about that all of the time.
    • Pinco is a coding genius, I can do more with Pinco's UI then I can with UO Assist though I worry about his not being updated someday as well.
    • Shopping is always in the EC for me, I can quickly scroll through a vendor to see what I want.
    • Imbuing, Pinco has a great system for quickly identifying what items will most likely unravel into. It makes browsing corpses and looting so much quicker.
    CC:
    • I am less laggy in the CC.
    • House customization, I ALWAYS do it in the CC, a lot of times I deco it in CC as well.
    • Mobs, I prefer the look of the mobs in the CC, especially the different hues of them like with nightmares, dragons, and white wyrms. When I am feeling nostalgic, I will go into the CC and take out my different pets and enjoy hunting with them like the old days.
And back to the OP's topic, I only stock in CC or in Legacy mode in the EC. I respect everyone's choice to use whichever client they wish. My beliefs are no more valid than anyone else. While I would never shop in the CC, I don't want to force others into the EC. And, empty bags are a pita in either client!

Trying to customize housing in the EC is almost an effort in futility... It has numerous issues that need to be addressed. Like the crazy bug that makes you basically delete everything everywhere your mouse goes when you try to delete something. Or the fact you can't delete anything near your character when trying to delete something... or the fact that the longer you are in custom mode the laggier and laggier the game gets until well.... your computer has had enough and the client crashes. And if no one else has noticed the difference in the height of rooftiles is ever so slight between the EC and CC so you have to do the roof in one or the other..... also it's impossible to commit a house in the EC that has a roof built in the CC because the second row up will always be orange. And since the circle of transparency in the EC is a pile of **** it is extremely difficult to deco in the EC because you practically have to be standing right on top of the tile you want to place something on in order to place it. The circle is way larger in the CC. Also anything animated will vanish in the EC if you have the circle of transparency on. Most my characters don't ever see my fountains of life anymore..... and the spinning wheel vanishes while it's animated and I'm using it so I never see the animation of the thing.

Buying certain items on ATL this evening. I needed 10 of them. 3 were stocked on people who obviously set up on EC. I bought seven, There was no way for me to buy from the EC stocked vendors, whose goods were all bunched up in an ugly pile in the top of their bag.

Install the EC for dealing with such piles. I log out of the CC at the vendor and stoop to resorting to the EC long enough to buy the buried item, then switch back to the CC. Annoying, but kind of a necessary evil these days.

I think that vendors should be decided in list only honestly..it just makes shopping less quirky in general. But that's a different topic all together
