Not complaining here about vendors' fees, just wondering how much people spend on their vendors' fees.......

I set up a vendor with goods for a total of mere 6,000,000 and it cost about 300,000 gp to maintain the vendor going for a week real time.

Now, considering that I often see vendors having items for hundreds of millions on them, I wonder how much do those vendors cost in upkeep.......

Say that one has a vendor with 100 millions on them, and these items do not sell for, say, a week, what it cost to the owner for 7 days ? If math helps me, it should be about 5 millions gp right?

So when people has items on vendors totalling hundreds of millions that go unsold, they are being drained for tens of millions of gp every week ? WOW...........

You appear to have posed the question - How much do people spend on vendor fees.
Then you appear to have answered it with maths.
Then you're pointing out that that's a lot.

If the point wasn't to complain about vendor fees, then what was it?

It is much more easier to think the vendor fee as 0.6% per day of the total price of the inventory (plus the 60gp per day constant fee). So, an average item has to stay on the vendor for more than 166 days for the total fee to reach the item's price. I guess experienced traders know which items are on demand, thus sell fast to yield the least loss on vendor fees. The vendor fees should only concern you if you over-priced an item that has low demand or high supply.

yeah, chump change, I use the Cntrl-Q to cycle thru past prices, or Cntrl-C to just paste it in - Hate it when I do both, several times:150000150000125000 gp - lol, ouch (i usually find it in a day or two, oh well)

Maybe it's all the fentanyl patches, but I don't see the reason for the majority of your post.

yep, no reason to discuss something on a discussion forum....can't see any reason for it

    ....anyways

Nimuaq's post is pretty much right on the money, in general you set vendor prices ever so slightly higher than if you were selling direct, the amount of gold spent on fees, while it seems a lot when taken by itself, is absolutely nothing compared to how much the vendors are making. In general, if something is on your vendor for more than 30 days, you have it priced way too high.

It is merely to express my being puzzled.....

I mean, I hear often talks of this game needing gold sinks but there we have them already, vendors' fees..........

Unless, there is something I am missing here.....

That is, that there are ways to "bypass" the fees, at least for the most expensive items.

For example, in the past, not sure how it is now and whether this work around got fixed, I read that there happened to be a way to skip the fees which ended up being particularly effective on highly priced items......

Just an example to try bring up my point which is whether when I see vendors with items totalling hundreds upon hundreds of millions in price tags those vendors are actually draining the fees from the vendors for tens upon tens of millions, or whether there is something I am missing like ways, whether old or new, to have items on vendors with extreme high prices but without necessarily ending up paying the toll in fees for those high figures.........

So, I am not complaining about vendors' fees, just wondering whether or not all those tens, hundreds of millions of vendors' fees on a given shard in the end are collected by the game resulting in a continuous and effective gold sink, or whether there may still be around creative ways to have expensively priced items showing on vendors without necessarily paying huge fees, as math would make one think..........

Bottom line is, we know that "in theory" vendors "should be" collecting fees at a rate of 0.6% of the item's price tag per day, but the question is, is this what is also happening in reality for all vendors ??

There used to be a vendor exploit where you could avoid fees. It is my understanding that it was fixed and thats how we got the vendor fee penalty thingamajig. The .6% is a good approximate and especially effective for high end pricing. As you approach low end pricing you can achieve a better rate than the .6% but in those cases we are dealing with items that are priced in the 3 or low 4 digit range and not the large price high end items you are discussing. (499 gold price on most items will charge zero additional vendor fees)

The only other way I know of lowering vendor pricing is through the UO Game Code Store Merchant's Trinket item. Having never bought one myself I am unsure how it works. In my opinion it is probably only useful to gold sellers or gold buyers who work with RL money conversions.

But yes these large amount items are presumably taking out a large amount of gold. One item priced for 10 million will take 60k a day from the game and 420k a week. If it sells on day 166 of being on the vendor, the seller will have made a total of 40k. Day 167 issues a loss of 20k for this 10 million gold item. Many people don't realize the loss they are taking on items and supplement their vendor fees with hunting gold. If they had a previous big sell, the 60k a day is nothing to them and like many people who consider themselves wealthy they don't care that their money is no longer making them any money.

It almost makes it tempting to watch certain vendors with high prices hoping they take a loss.

    --------------
Hmm Near 75 million for a 120 PS of Fishing huh, 450k worth of vendor fees a day on that item.

  10. Youre awesome!

  11. I spend about 1 million aday on vendor fees. I have my ter mur vendors and I rent spaces in Luna.

Thats about 5-7 million a week
    25 million in a month.

That is the cost of selling.

And yes I make a lot of gold reselling.

And you know you dont pay the fees sometimes depending how fast stuff is bought. Think about it.

Lets make Vendor Fees more interesting. Have RNG determine if you got a crooked Vendor, there is a 1 in 1000 chance, and if so, he'll charge 10x the rate while only telling you he's charging the normal.

When you dismiss him, he says "Caught on have you? Well I'll just go and enjoy my new summer house in Tokuno now... SUCKER!"

popps, if cost is too high for you do what rest do, buy from your self with other account and replace on vendor this works is legal and depending on number of items doesn't take that long!

nexus that idea is wicked funny, hope it happens

    I am surprised.........

I thought that, in order to stop "work arounds", vendors' fees worked so that the money for their fees was subtracted "in advance"......

That is, for the first day, the fee was subtracted the exact moment one drops and prices an item in the vendors' inventory backpack and for the following days, the fee was subtracted right at the start of that day......

This way, no work around could ever work since all fees for that day had been charged already and whatever one does with the item would not change the fact that the fee for that day is gone already........

I am very very surprised it does not work this way as taking the fees at the end of the day opens up to "work arounds" ending in fees not being paid as they should..........

Guess I can stop my count down then since there does seem to be a workaround and there really is no justice for the high priced gougers.

Popps, I am with you on being surprised.

Guess they would have to change the fee structure completely to charge every hour or do some type of pro-rate thing like the Magincia bazaar has (or at least I think it does.)

    Oh well.

What happens to vendor's fees when an item gets sold before the day ends ?

Are the fees drained anyways from the vendor's fund at the same instant of the sale ?

Because if this is how it works, buying it with a second account or have a friend do it won't avoid being charged vendor's fees........

Otherwise, if fees are only applied at the end of the day and if the item is no longer there no fees will be applied when the day ends, well, then something is not working well with vendors' fees, IMHO.

Personally, I'd more favour vendors' fees to be applied at the start of the day, rather than at the end of the day. It would avoid any possible work around, I think.

  19. Why are you worried about something that works perfectly fine? You use a vendor, you pay a fee.

    GEEZ.

    I am puzzled.
