Which properties are good for pvp vs pvm are up to you. People seem to really like Hit Lightning, Hit Chance Increase and Defense Chance increase. Some Swing Speed Increase is always good as well.

  4. For PvM-

    Hit Mana Leech
    Hit Stamina Leech
    Hit Lower Defense
    Hit Lower Attack
    Swing Speed Increase
    Damage Increase

Just my opinion of course, but if I had a weapon with all of these at or near their max, my dexxer would be nigh unkillable in PvM.

Mary - did you look on the main UO Stratics page for the item properties link in the left column? They are ALL there ... SDI, DI, DCI ... all of it.

  7. This depends on you skills and other equipments.

I'd like to explain the principles in general.

    --

There are three basic factors on melee fight: hit chance, swing speed, damage.

To increase the value of these three factors leads you to give high damages to your opponent per time.

    - Hit chance is the most important factor. Because in these days weapons have special abilities that go off when hit. Even if you have high mana leech on your weapon, it would not help you if not hit. You can increase hit chance by raising your weapon skill and having HCI property on your weapon. But you can also increase the value of HCI property by special abilities as lightning strike or divine fury. If you have Bushido skill and enough mana regeneration, you can do lightning strike in stream, then you don't need HCI property on your weapon, because your HCI reachs its cap. Or if you have 30% HCI with jewels, you can increase HCI up to 40% by casting divine fury.

So, HCI is the most important if you can't have high HCI with other means like doing lightning strike in stream. IF you can have HCI 45% with other means, your weapon need not to have HCI.

Because of the same reason, HLD is also very important.

    - Swing speed is second important. But if you can have 150 DEX and 180 Stamina, SSI isn't so important. If you use several dozens of Barbed runics, you can have armours that give you 150 DEX and 180 Stamina(Japanese PvPers do it. Crazy!).

If you can't have equipments of 150 DEX, SSI is second most important.

Then mana leech, stamina leech, life leech and damage, so on.

    --

This is my personal opinion, of course.

I don't PvP, so can't help you there. I think the best PVM weapon depends on your template. What I typically do is collect weapons I loot that look good and then go to arctic ogre lords to test them out to see which ones I like best. I run a fencing dexxer in vamp form, so it is important that I be hitting as much as possible. Props important to me are 1) mana leech, so I can always do specials, lightening strike and Chiv spells. 2) Stam Leech, so I can be swinging at max swing speed most of the time. 3) HLA so I dont take as much damage. I don't really need HCI as I have alot of it on my suit and I use Mace N Shield for HLD. I'd love to find a ML, SL weapon with hit lightening all over 40. Maybe I'm dreaming, lol. I think the best weapon to get would depend on your template and the other gear you use. See what you already have on your gear and then try to get a weapon that compliments what you already have. Max swing speed is important, but with 150 dex I don't really need it as long as I'm using a kryss.

My favorite properties (in order of importance to me) for PvP:

    1) Hit Stamina Leech. I don't have Focus or alot of Stamina Regen on my suit and you must keep your stamina up to keep your swing speed at the max.
    2) Hit Mana Leech. Again, no focus, but no Medi and very little Mana Regen on my suit. Mana is very important for Special attacks, Chivalry, Bushido, Ninjitsu, Magery, and Spell Weaving.
    3) Hit Lightning/Fireball. Extra Damage done above and beyond the weapon damage. Also helps to interrupt mages.
    4) HLA. Lowers the chance of you being hit
    5) HLD. Increases your chance of hitting your enemy
    6) SSI. Especially useful on weapons that aren't quite fast enough.
    7) Hit Life Leech. Helps keep you alive when those bandages don't work fast enough.
    8) DCI. Lowers the chance of you being hit
    9) HCI. Increase the chance of hitting your enemy.

My perfect/dream weapon would have my top 5 at 40% or higher.

    Some I really don't need.
    1) Hit Area (This can be useful sometimes, but other times it just gets in the way)
    2) Spell Channelling. Someone using Magery would consider this #1 on their list, but I don't.
    3) Mage Weapon. Same as Spell Channelling
    4) Resists. I really don't like resists on my weapon. That's what my suit is for.

By the way, since I craft all my weapons, I'm assuming Damage Increase will be on every one of them, so I don't include it in my ranking.

For PvM, here are a few more:

    1) Super Slayers! (Undead, Reptile, Repond, Demon, Arachnid, Elemental) You need a full set of these for PvM
    2) Luck. Better loot.

thx renai for your input and thx A LOT Setnaffa for all these usefull info!
i have been out pvp for too long and really need a nice refresh! =) thx!!!!!!

  13. not sure who u are leaching stuff off of in pvp but those are not the mods i even look for in a pvp wep. I need no leeches as they dont do a bit of good anyways with the nerfs to leeches.

    Best properties for pvp weps

    Hit lower defense.
    Hit lower attack
Hit fireball/magic arrow(the disrupt these do is way better then lightning anyday)
Swing speed(depends on weapon kryss daggers etc dont need)
    Damage increase.
Lastly being dci or hci whatever your suit is not able to get you to.

You can sacrifice the hld if u use the glasses. Also hci with leggings of bane ring/brace or if your a dexer and you use shield thats more hci.

For pvm its as connor says leeches mixed with hla and hld. Again its all based on what you fight in pvm and what your suit has on it already.

    For archers..

About the same.. even though hit lower attack isn't needed as much.

swing speed is usually the most important, followed by hit mana leech since they nerfed both bows AND mana regen suit. Damage increase is good but if your bow is a slayer and you normally have alot of DI stuff (rings, etc) not as important.

Hit lower defense a nice one. Hit chance increase always nice, and finally any damage boosting properties like hit lightings, velocity, etc.

For PVP, balanced bows are very cool letting you drink potions.

thats true, its all based on what you fight in pvm and what your suit has on it already!! and about the best properties for pvp, maybe you are right, all leechs are not the primary properties, maybe for pvm!
    anyway, thx for your input!

Are you currently using Leeches? With high Stamina Leech and Mana Leech, I'm pretty much indestructible. For example, I was fighting 1v2 late last week and they became very frustrated at me because they couldn't kill me and I kept dropping Whirlwind on them about every 5 seconds, which leeched off of both of them. They (as usual) assumed I was cheating somehow, but I just had a nice weapon with all three leeches, some HLA, and DCI. If they hadn't been so rude, I would have rezzed them.

The change they made wasn't really a nerf. They just changed the way Hit Mana Leech and Hit Life Leech worked. Before the change, the % shown was the chance you'd actually execute the leech, then you'd get a set % back (I believe 40% for Mana and 20%, I think, for Life). Now you leech on every hit, but up to the % of the damage done. Sure. You don't leech as much in PvP as PvM (you didn't before the change either), but you have a constant stream of HP's, mana, and Stamina coming back to you. I have a weapon with Hit Mana Leech 57%, so I leech 1-20 mana back with each hit. If I'm doing 1v2, I leech off every one of them when I do a Whirlwind, then I'm leeching 2-40 mana on each hit.

  17. The only way that works is if your fighitng 2 dexers. Whirl wind wont touch 2-1 if ones a archer or a mage that stands away from you. Also the 2 people you were fighting must have been complete jokes. Disarm and your done.

All the godly pvp weps that people buy are not focused on leeches. I had leeching weps they dont do jack. You get like 3-4 mana per swing thats just not good enough.

For each there own though. Id rather buy a wep with hla fireball ssi di and dci then any leeches.

Are you sure you are leeching that much? According to http://guide.uo.com/itemproperties_0.html you will leech up to 40% of 57% of the damage dealt. So max would be about 23% of the damage you are dealing. To leech 20 mana off one PVP target, you'd have to be hitting it for around 90 (after resists). If you are hitting for this much with a twinkling in pvp, it's not the leeches that are making you indestructible [IMG]. That sounds more like PVM level leeching to me.
