Just curious as Niera has no slayer what weapons and tactics are you guys using? Seems like my HLD HLA spear doesn't do much damage. Same for a double bladed staff. Seems to be weakest against PHY but I am outputting low damage.

I carry two: broadsword with DI, HML, HSL, HLA, hit spell that I use to beat down Neira.

Then I have a radiant scimitar with DI, HML, HSL, Hit Area, and something else I can't remember. WHen she's summoned anything reasonably large I swap to this weapon and WW till it's dead, then swap back to the AI weapon.

Yeah I can string 3x AI with my spear but it seems to be 80-90 ish damage with AI. I am going to stone on swords and give a longsward a try. thanks

Why only 3 AIs? My broadsword does something like 85-110 per AI, and I can do a bunch in a row, depending on the RNG and how much I leech when.

DO you have bushido? Honor could help.

You should be able to just chain AI over and over again.

Well I assume your build has more mana then mine. I have 76 mana. It's a 68 HML spear with 40di but 92 seems to be about the average hit unless it's critical from perfection. Depending on leech and rng I might 4 or 5 AI and then LS a few til mana gets back then AI.

I think I have about the same amount of mana. With honor and enemy of one I can pretty much keep up a steady pace of back to back AI specials but sure sometimes I miss a few. I had used bladed staffs before but then went back to longswords as I like the ability to chug refresh pots when my stamina gets low.

Also while on the subject of Niera I got a nice 10ssi / 15 HCI brace the other week in her corpse :D

I like using a Double Axe and using double strike. When there are other critters around, I use whirlwind which really helps to keep up my hit points. I use EOO and Honor on Niera.

It's funny, I have been so reluctant to go with swords because I have so much time and resources into building an arsenal of fencing weapons. But it pains me to admit I think swords is the better weapon skill for a sampire. Oh well, guess i'll get to work crafting weapons.

With SSI as easy to come by as it is these days, I think maces might be the way to go. Hammer picks for AI, mauls for DS, black staffs for WW.

I am not a sampire though, I'm a vamp form paladin, in the process of switching to just a pure paladin.

    Current: (including skills on jewelry)
    120 swords, tact, anat, chiv
    100 parry, necro,
    90 resisit.

I will occasionally swap out either parry or resist for bush. Either way, I basically never parry, since I roll with a shield.

Without necro, I can just take resist to 120 (useful against the really high end casters/necros), and run less skills on jewelry.

I choose to go without bushido, because I don't really see that it helps. Most things have slayer, so slayer + EoO is good enough for damage output.

I am not quite as good as a Sammy at damage avoidance, but it's not really that much an issue. Plus, I find that the 1000 imbue points from a 1h weapon + shield works better for me than 600 from a 2h weapon.

Before reforge, this was not the case, I would say, because there was really only DCI that's really useful to put on a shield.
My shield gives me: 10 SSI, 25DI, 4 stam, 2 dex. If I wanted to keep trying, I know I can roll 10 ssi, 30 di, and 5 HCI (done it on TC)... then I imbue with 15 DCI.

This way I can either not put DI on jewelry, or I can put there, and whetstone off weapons.

I've been planning to make a new suit of armor that is part metal, part studded, part woodland, that I refine to have 75 phy and 75 fire but just been too lazy.

I have an old Pally Macer, with 120 Macing/120 Tact/GM Anat/GM Healing/GM Focus/80 Chiv/GM Resist. He has 4/6 Casting for rapid healing with Chivalry.
While he works pretty well 1v1 against certain bosses, he doesn't quite have the sheer offensive power that a Sampire has because he doesn't have 300 Skillpoints for Special Mana Reduction, and i have to take time out of my offense to cast heals (which for a Sampire, their offense is their healing). He's also not near as good as a Sampire for taking on multiple opponents, since it's just too much incoming damage and potential interrupts to heal through.
However, he does shine over a Sampire against something like Exodus. Between being able to rapidly heal myself or a partner with bandages and Close Wounds, he does very well against Exodus, and could potentially do even better if i tweaked his template some to add in Parry.

Why Woodland? Woodland provides absolutely no Stamina Protection or Innate LMC. All it provides is the ability to be enhanced with HCI/DCI, but Reforging can do that, as can looted Artifact quality pieces.

Because that HCI/DCI or DI from heartwood enhance is a "free" property. I don't need 55 LMC when I fight things with a slayer, I average about 190 damage per hit, so with 100 LMC I'll average a leech of 28, which is more than the mana cost of the AI, at 50 LMC. In my testing I found that 5x studded + glasses (which have no stam protection), and 3x studded + 1 metal + 1 leather + glasses seems to protect stamina the same. Therefore, the heartland enhance is more or less a totally free property.

Granted, I'd rather have a legendary metal piece with 9 properties, but nice legendaries for mages are easy, relatively, to come by compared to for a warrior.

    3x studded + 1 metal glasses + 2 woodland = 50 LMC
