I am wondering the forumula for tracking a stealthed person.

On the Tracking skill page it states a forumla.

    % Chance of tracking = (Tracking + Detect Hidden + Random 1-20) / (Hiding + Stealth) * 50

So with 100 tracking and Detect and the stealther has 100 hinding and 120 stealth I have a .018% - .02% chance to track him?

Is this correct? Can anyone give me some real numbers here?

Hmm I think you have the mathmatics part confused.

[(GMTrack 100) + (GMDet 100) +(avg10)] so the total for these is 210
    [(GMHid 100)+(LGStealth120)] = 220
    Apply the formula
210/220*50= 47.7272 so that means about 48% chance to track.

The whole thing looks like this
    (100+100+10)/(100+120)*50 = 47.7272

    You are calculating it as
(100+100+10)/[(100+120)*50] which isnt what the formula suggested.

From recent experiments, that seems about accurate.

It also means that with 0 tracking, 0 detect and JOAT, you have [(20+20+10(ave))/(100+80)]*50 chance or about 14% chance of tracking MOST of the stealthers out there, who have 100 hiding and 80 stealth.

Just what are the benefits of being an Elf stealther?

I had the impression that passive detect range was reduced - but not sure by how much. Are Elves harder to track and if so, what are the numbers?
  5. Submit it as a FoF question.:)

As far as I know, there isnt a formula posted anywhere for this.

The whole formula must be a joke.
My elf stealther gets tracked by Human 20 tracking all the time.

    That's just not right.:bored:

With that calculation it should be possible for any human to track or passive reveal a 100/120 then, right? But elves, with their special ability to passively reveal, can do so at 0 skill as well? Then do they have something like 30 innate detect hidden? Hm.

Well anyway, if you had to choose one or the other, Tracking or Detect, what would be better for a field mage looking to play detective? Human guy so trying to get the most out of 100 skill while not killing the template.

What's the range of passive reveal? And what's the area of active when you are at 100? Anyone have some raw numbers? Thanks
