    Taken directly off of UOGuide:
"Reactive Paralyze is an item property found on certain shields. If the wielder effectively parries an attacker's blow then there is a percentage chance to cast the magery spell paralyze on the attacker."

So my question is, what is the percentage chance and/or is it scaled with anything like say based off of what your parrying skill is or is it the same percentage no matter what the parry skill is?

  2. The effect has a 30% chance to cast paralyze upon a successful parry. So, it also depends on your parry, and the defenders skill to block (DCI).

So is that 30% if you have 45% defense chance increase (DCI) with 120 parrying skill, and from 30% it scales down based upon how much lower your DCI and parrying skill is?

I've heard the 30% chance to active Reactive paralyze on a successful parry as well, but Old Man confused his statement somewhat with his next sentence.

Simply realize it's a 30% chance to Reactive para if you parry an attack....... Then ask what the odds of parrying an attack are after that bc it's a different question.

    Example....
80 Dex / 120 parry / 0 Bushido / Using a sheild = 35% chance to block any attack that WOULD have hit you.
Assume your fighting a dexxer with maxxed HCI & your Maxxed DCI / Combat skills etc... this means he hits you 50% of the time, of which you PARRY 35% & 30% of that amount parried causes a Reactive paralyze.

    100 swings = 50 Swings HITS = 17.5 Successful parry's = 5.25 Reactive Paralyze's (Not impressive IMO....)

The Question I have is at what Evaluate Intelligence are the Reactive para's Cast at? Will it effect a 120 resist characteR? That I haven't checked yet.

  5. Go to this page: UO Stratics - Combat

Scroll about halfway down until you find the Chance to Block an Attack. That section shows all the calculations, including Bushido, parry, etc. Use the calculator to do your what-ifs.

Since you are talking about using a shield:
    FORMULA:
    Blocking with a shield:
    % Chance = (Parrying - Bushido) / 4 (If less than 0, the chance is 0)
(Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)

Dexterity Modifier if dex is less than 80*: (80 - Dexterity) / 100 (If Dexterity is higher than 80, the modifier is 0)
Final % Chance of blocking = Base Chance * (1 - Dexterity Modifier

Once you successfully block, there is a 30% chance for the Reactive Paralyze.

So, assuming 120 Parry and 125 Dex = 35% chance to block, then 30% of that is 10.5%. So, roughly 1 in 11 chance to set off the Reactive Paralyze, or at max speed of 1.25 seconds per swing, about once per 14 seconds.

Yeah that's waht I need to know... Does Eval intelligence determine how effective the paralyze is when someone hits you? Cause if that's the case wouldn't that be messed up seeing as how "they" tried so hard to get rid of parry mages by making the dex determine how effective the parry chance will be? It almost seems like eval intelligence wouldn't have anything to do with how effective the paralyze is but I don't knwo if having 120 resist ignores the reactive paralyze or what? Say for instance player A has reactive paralyze shield... Player B has 120 magic resist and hits player A... Would the player B get paralyzed with 120 magic resist? As is now we can't even paralize someone in fel if they have 120 resist unless u evil omen them first.

  7. Eval Int doesn't play into this at all.

All weapons have hit effect is fixed at 80 Eval Int, and I would assume any affect with a shield would be fixed also.

is it worth it? I mean if your making sacrifices to squeeze in a reactive paralyze shield is it really worth it? Especially only getting 1 in every 11 with 120 parry and 80 dex?

yes it is worht it. Those may be the correct numbers but i have seen me get off 3-4 reactive paralyze in a row.

  10. It's too dependent on the RNG. That 3-4 procs in a row sure could ruin someone's day, but on the other side you could go several minutes without it triggering at all.

Not exactly. The "Hit Curse" on the Legacy of Despair sword is based off of Eval. I tested it with my Gargoyle Warrior and another of my chars. The Curse only lasted like 2-3 secs max when the Gargoyle Warrior had no Eval.
