it is pronounced ee-jis, I only know this because I was once offered contract work for the Aegis in Virginia, which I declined. As far as plural forum of the word, it is one of two possiblities given its Latin and Greek origination

Aegis (singular and plural form are the same) as deer and fish
or Aegi if you follow regular 3 form declinations of latin nouns.

    Thank you all!

I only asked because an attempt to re-arrange my storage descended into an argument between Bea and I, while sorting cursed arties!

Ægisisis? Ægisii? Eggy? Ægii? Ægey? We almost settled on "Ægis shields", but that seemed like a cop-out...

I think Dola's is most likely to be the right one! Thanks again!

a couple of years ago the Modern Language Association (MLA) decided that you could make anything plural by adding -s or -es to the end. for example: moose use to be singular and plural (it still is that way) but now its acceptable by the MLA for one to say mooses. so Aegises sounds good to me [IMG]

Based on that, "sheepes" does not look or sound right :s

It does if you picture a slimy once-hobbit thing from Lord of the Rings saying it.

    "MY sheepses! Precious sheepes! sheeeeepseseseses"

    Hrm. Who stole my medication?!?

  16. Ægies of course :p

    Ægis.

Just like the plural of deer is deer.

"I have 25 cursed Ægis, stored in a chest upstairs."

  19. The classical-style plurals of "penis" and "****oris" are "penes"
    /'pi:ni:z/ and "****orides" /klI'tOrIdi:z/.

    Etymology:
Latin, from Greek aigis, literally, goatskin, from aig-, aix goat; akin to Armenian ayc goat

    [/ QUOTE ]

Goat?!? Hmm. I didn't know that.

Many thanks to all, and I hope Dor's stopped growling!

*goes to try using goats as a shield outside various PKs houses*

Rofl. The sad part is I'm actually beginning to understand 90+% of what he says.

However, I think Aeges is the right answer.
