I was pretty happy with them being in the cloak/quiver slot. Now they are changing them to the robe slot as the elven robe design.

I personally find the robe slot to already have a great variety where as the quiver/cloak slot to not have much of any. Also, not to mention, i find the elven robe hideous on a human toon.

    What do you all think?

You should have put an "any" option, as I want to vote "other" but I do not care what slot they put it in, just not the "robe" slot lol.

Dangit, you're right LOL, still can't believe they simply changed it like that. Hoping we can get them to change it back or to something besides the robe slot.

  4. yeah, I vote cloak. I am concerned about everyone running around with a hooded robe on.

As someone said in the other thread, we need more magic clothes...
magic dresses, magic kilts, magic tunics, magic half-aprons (besides the CC), even magic pants!!!

Agreed, kind of sick of seeing thousands of people in hooded robes myself. If this were a regular robe i might possibly change my tune.

I like the idea of it being in the sash slot, that way not everyone is stuck in robes (hooded or otherwise).

that nukes the lieutenant sash though, besides, the reaosn some of us are arguieng against it in a robe slot is because the other robes that are already used there, vet and replica. Cloak i would think would be the ideal situation, get rid of arrows on mages/dexers. Leave it to the archers!

Maybe make them underwear but then we would all want female chars cause they can wear two. Other then that I would say sash or doublet. Something that can be seen over armor.

Call me old fashion, but I think the cloak should take the cloak spot. :p

The current game mechanics would only allow it to take the slot it was originally intended for.

Not that it couldn't be done though but the effort to make it happen would not really be worth it. Not to mention changing something like that would add a bit of confusion because clothing slots have always followed the same rules for so long now that changing it would just be weird.

The most logical way to make changes to clothing slots would be to add support in the SA client and have clothing worn take any available clothing slot. You could equip a certain number of clothing pieces without assigning them to a designated layer like they are in all the current clients.

To do that though they would need to move to SA only support otherwise you would run into problems in 2d.

Right now each piece of clothing is equipped to a specific layer and changing the layer would mean adding a lot of code and patching the client to handle those changes. Probably not something worth the effort at this point but maybe in the future.

What? We are suggesting they change the piece of clothing it is, the term "slot" is used because multiple items use that slot. Such as "elven robes" and "hooded shrouds" and "robes" all use the "robe slot", cloaks and quivers use the "cloak" slot. oh yea dresses use the robe slot as well.

Btw, the client already handles it just fine. They would just have to code an item that takes the slash slot with the robe art work, and it would still equip on the sash slot....it would look odd as hell, but still works.

Of course it'd look odd. People would be able to effectively equip two robes at once.

    agreed

(of course, I probably would have put quivers in the sash slot)

Well the Cloak of Corruption is a robe slot item... I see no reason why the new ones will be different.

It'll look fine as a robe.

To the people complaining, while I see your point, no one forces you to wear these. 3 DCI, HCI, and SDI is not a big deal, nor 2 of each stat. it's simply a little bonus for those who do wish to acquire the new items and use them.

Seriously though, you don't HAVE to wear them. It's not like they give +20 HP... It's a very minor bonus, and if you want said bonus just wear whatever slot it comes in.

I feel it is more a complaint about "variety" than it is about "looks" if it was simply about looks it would be "just turn it into a normal robe" i personally feel boots with dci would be better placed than a robe or quiver for that matter, it is sort of like a "dodge" after all. There could be many reasons why to not make it a robe, there are TONS of robe like items, and if you want an item with props you basically have to wear a robe, or a dress. It limits outfits completely unless you negate the use of any prop clothing, then you are free to wear whatever at the cost of not having any props where as others have them.

I agree the other ones were robes, these should be robes, but then again...I also feel the other ones should have been Cloaks, they are called cloaks after all.

I understand, but they'd have to limit the amount of bonus wearing cloth pieces you could wear at some point if it was more your way. Having them all as robe slot pieces doesn't allow you to replace mods on armor with clothes, but still allows a slight boost for those who want it and put the effort into acquiring these new items.

I can't think of a real easy way to make this work unless you let people pick what item slot they wanted to add properties to or something.. and again you maxed the amount of bonus cloth pieces people could wear.

If you made it a skirt, or a doublet, then everyone is just going to be wearing that under their shrouds.

I'll try to state this more clearly again, since I think I've done a bad job so far in this post (it is late). Some sort of ability to move mods on a robe to a skirt or from a cloak spot to a doublet would be great, as long as they imposed a limit on the amount of clothes you could wear that gave bonus properties. This would allow for more variety imo, but I imagine with UO's old code this may not be super easy to do? I'm not a programmer, but this would be a solid idea in my opinion.

If the slot is changed then the item cannot use the hooded robe graphic. Objects(items) on the paper doll are added in layers. The cloak/quiver layer is close to, if not, the bottom layer, whereas the robe/hooded cloak layer is close to if not the top layer and subsequently overrides most other graphics currently on that paper doll.

Personally, I wish there was clothing that could not be worn at the same time as armor, yet had mods and resists like armor so that some of my characters could wear cloths instead of always wearing armor 23/7. That may just be reminiscent of the T2A era.

Consolidating the robe/sash slot would allow each character choose which look they would like to sport, even moreso if all item types/graphics in that new slot had the same properties. Allowing an item to be changed to another graphic in the same slot might be a nice option.

I'd like to see a "reagent satchel" created that would sit in the cloak/quiver slot. A regular version with the same properties as a regular quiver and an Artifact level with maybe 5% SDI. That would allow characters a little more variety.

I'd like a reagent sachel that gives 50% LRC in the quiver slot!

  23. The Cloaks we got from the Shadowlords battle in the rift over Moonglow are elfin robes, besides if I get a Cloaks of Silence from a EM during that part of an live event how am I to wear it if you take the slot for it as well? SO I vote they go as robes!

Well, they already have pieces in the "cloak" slot that have props, such as vet cloaks and quivers. So making these items into cloaks, is not a bad idea. They also have Half aprons as well, and boots, and earrings. So even with out adding another "slot" item, they could just make an item not a robe, could make an item that would fill any of these slots: Cloak, ear, apron(is that the right slot name? could call it belt...), Boots. I think that covers all of the current slots that have props, and still allows for variety (also they could make it any item that fits in those slots, so the amount of possible items increases by how many items fit in those slots, such as foot = boots, thigh boots, sandals, shoes, the weird se footwear. I am sure there is more but that gives at least 5 variety of items for one slot)

Sorry I do not understand what you are talking about, the cloaks of silence should also be robes, unless you have some sort of insider info. All the new "cloaks" were cloaks, and now they are all robes. So if you get these new "elfin robes" and you get the Cloak of Silence, then you are going to have to replace the new "elfin robe" with the Cloak of Silence anyway.

I agree the cloaks we got were elfin robes, so it makes sense the new ones should be elfin robes. But I also think the "cloaks" we got from the shadow lords should have been, well, CLOAKS. I mean seriously it is in the freaking name. >.< Anyway, I am not sure what you are talking about with the Cloaks of Silence since they already take the same slot as the other three you will have to choose between the 4....not like you can wear the Silence one and one of the new three, also Being given a choice to wear one of the 3 new cloaks or the cloak of silence is not a bad thing, that creates variety in item setups and looks.

As I pointed out once already, it is the graphic we are trying to get changed. Obviously we use the word "slot" just so that they can have the choice of what item to make it, they could put it in the cloak slot and make it a quiver or a cloak (I think there is one more item that uses this slot but I can not remember what it is)

I'd like to be able to find more earrings with invis that don't cost 2mil for 10 charges :wall: I almost wish they would do something like that instead.
I'm not entirely sure what the point is of having a cloak with stealth on it, since it pretty much screams 'HEY...A STEALTHER...I MIGHT BE A THIEF OR POSSIBLY A STEALTH ARCHER...COME GET ME'
....especially if it turns out that you can't dye them.
They could at least put it on a shirt or something...
And yes, I understand it shouldn't make a difference since you would be stealthing if you're wearing something like this. Its just that its almost an oxymoron (and I dont like those).

well these Cloaks of Silence give a +10 stealth and there is a shard that had them already as cloaks, everyone remember the bank sitting contest that was here in UO Hall? They had them as a reward to those that took part in this Bank Sitting contest at the Brit bank, I remember asking where they came from and was told from a EM event. So I want my robe and cloak!

I misunderstood because of the wording. Otherwise the client would not handle it properly.

Changing the clothing type would be fine in that case.

But what I was saying about clothing was that you cannot take a cloak and assign it to say the shoe layer because the client would run into issues and you would not be able to remove the piece of clothing once it was equipped without a mod to the client to handle it. I am also pretty sure that the issue is mostly client side.
