What's everyone think about vendor service prices?

A moderately stocked high end goods vendor can cost a million per day, which is totally ridiculous.

Anyone else think there should be a set fee per day regardless of the price of items? I just don't see why a price-fee ratio exists in the first place. Maybe just have a set commission instead.

No, I don't think it should be a flat rate. If it were high enough to cover the kind of stuff sold on a typical active Luna vendor, it would be too high for every other kind of vendorhouse, or the type of vendorhouse that only has 3-4 vendors on it selling lower end goods, such as my house. Yet if it were low then it would just be abused for storage and you'd see vendors packed to the brim with items for sale for 999 million.

I think they need to keep the percentage but, frankly, I think the current rate is too high on players not selling high end items, and having to try to sell in bulk. If you pack a vendor to capacity with lots of relatively lower-end items, your fees are still very high per day, even though you have to sell a good bit of your stock to keep your profit margin or cover the fees. Unlike a rares vendor, where if you sell even 1 item, you've covered your vendor fees for a day, a week, or more, for all the other items.

I'd be in favor for something more fair to the non-Luna vendorhouses. Either put percentages only on Artifact quality items, -or-, a flat rate provided the total cost of items on a vendor is under say.... 300k. After that it uses the percentage.

I think it is just fine. The new items like lets say the sash and the drop rate plp are complaining about is an item to be carrished and used and not a method of making 35+ mil gold. If you don't have the patience to sell the item for less at the bank then there is the balance over effort to gold.

A well established vendor selling items at fair prices will never be an issue.

Agreed that I have no sympathy for the houses crying cause of their fees when they have a vendor stocking multiple multi-million gold items. At that kind of profit margin, you sell one item and you're good for a long time.

Not so of smaller mom and pop type vendorhouses that aren't power-rare laundromats for Fel guilds or whatever. The fee structure is very harsh on the vendorhouses not selling multi-million gold items, because they have to move a lot in bulk to keep a profit margin, meaning the vendor is always packed with items. If you have a vendor saying, let's say, filled runebooks at a couple thousand apiece, you need to sell several a day JUST to cover the vendor fees... and of course plenty of days you sell nothing at all.

I'd be fine if they charged the fees that the devs seem to *think* are being charged, rather than the fees that are actually being charged. I remember seeing a post by one of the devs in a discussion somewhere where the dev did a calculation based on a daily vendor fee of 1/500th the item price. That would be fine, IMO, but the daily fee is actually something like 1/166th the item price. Is it possible it's just been bugged all this time?

I had a bugged vendor a few years ago. Didn't charge anything, not a gold piece. I probably could have exploited the heck out of him, but I was kind of lazy and didn't have much to sell. I finally demolished him when I moved to a slightly bigger house.

There should be a capped daily amount (to prevent storage abuse), maybe say 25k per day, but on top of that, there should be a commision of 5% charged on every single sale.

That way you can sell items for 100 million (or whatever), but for the privalege of not having to actually spend any TIME selling your item, you lose 5% of your profits. Excellent gold sink, and a calculable risk that can be managed on an individual basis by the shop-owner (and potentially factored into their asking price if they feel it nescessary)

I hate these new vendor service prices. I just acquired a heartwood runic fletching kit and I want to try and sell it. Naturally this item is not cheap and I have it set to around 12mil, cheap compared to other places. To keep this item on a vendor I found out it would cost me 70k a day!

My house is in Fel, a good place outside moonglow, but not enough to ensure me that I can sell anything in under week. I would love to stock my vendor with even more items, but with these vendor service prices I might end up loosing more money than I would make trying to sell them on my vendor.

I understand why these charges were added, but it's just too much most player vendors outside of Luna, particularly for those who try to put up vendors in fel where player traffic isn't very high.

Gold sink, and to discourage vendors being used as storage.

Best way around it is to trade face to face in-game, but then you have to factor in what your time is worth. Then there's trade forums, but they're so removed from the game it's no longer a play style.

    Vendors aren't terribly overpaid.
