Been back for little under a month now an just hit Magicina to see a bunch of robed figures and needles to say Magicina is not what I remember it to be.

My question is what's goin on in Magicina and are there any quests or reason to go there an kill things? I love events and event items and would hate to miss out.

    Thank you.

There are 3 quests in Magincia at present.

Magincia was destroyed about a year or 2 ago due to its pride(apparantly), i wasnt there for this so cant tell you more. The whole city was demolished and rubble spawned all over.

Last year, there was an influx of these figures you see and the rebuilding of magincia supposobly begun. This was about the same time as the crimson dragons invaded the towns.

Now, there is a mage by the moongate, if you gather the threads for him(ill explain at the end) he will award you with various pieces of rubble, you can only do this once per char and is meant to help towards re-building mag.

Side note: the threads have also been confirmed that they will enhance the cloaks of corruption although we do not yet know how many or to what effect.

There are 3 types of thread,

    Threads of Life
    Threads of Fate
    Threads of Thought.

The 3different "ghosts" you see drop a thread.

To recieve these you kill the corrupted souls(melee seems to get the highest drop rate) be careful, when they die they open a "vortex" and draw all nearby souls to aid them

You need to use the skill Spirit speak by the Forsaken souls(i think there the yellow named ones that dont move), they will then be released and occasionaly drop a thread.

The ones that walk around but dont attack you need to use the necromancy spell Exorcism.

They are forming an orderly queue at the gate to line up to join my guild.

Magicina suffered the fate of having been destroyed in the original Ultima lore - an event ruthlessly recreated a year and a half ago.

There are three kinds of spirits that each drop a special threat (of unknown use). Each of threads comes in 10 variations (although to look at them, you can't tell them apart). There is a quest-giver at the moongate you will offer you pieces of rubble (graphics of items marked "rubble") in return for different combinations of threads.

The hyperaggressive red ones will swarm you, but can be fought off with melee attacks to gain threads.

the wandering grey ones can be killed, but to get the threads, you need to use an exorcism spell on them.

The lingering yellow ones are invulnerable to attack, but can be put to rest with spirit speak.

    D'oh! I was too slow!

You can also "see" the messages of each thread type, if you have enough spirit speak.

Well, to be fair, "ruthlessly recreated by the actions and inactions of the players".

Draconi just put the story in motion, the people leading light daemons around to get pretty things finished it.

I'd like to hope that the plot could have ended with Magincia not being destroyed if people had banded together, but the sack of Trinsic disavowed me of that notion years ago.
