I am moving off of LS, taking my mains and trading goods to ATL, since it's the most populated. But I want to take my hunters to the deadest shard with a decent ping (eastern USA here). Any ideas?

    thanks!

I replied earlier thinking you asked "deadliest shard" lol. I don't think anyone wants to admit to having the deadest shard. I think you might consider Legends. It's probably not the deadest shard. But after Atlantic and Great Lakes they all seem pretty dead. Lots of room to build, fair amount of vendors, EM Avalon is really the best out there, and the players are *extremely* helpful. I'm sure it's probably dead enough for your needs. You usually don't see anyone unless your in town. My ping is always very good. I've seen castles go for like 5 mill and Luna house do become available. So that alone says it's not the most populated shard around :p

I play Origin and I'd even say Origin. I've placed castles there. I like Origin. If you decide you want to play there, let me know. Be glad to join and I transfer stuff between Origin and Atlantic from time to time Too.

Instead of transferring characters. Come to Siege and re-start. It's amazing to see the changes in the game doing it that way.

I can NOT thank you enough. My ping here is great, and you're right. I just placed this, only cost me 800k, SO much better than 7.5bil that ATL castles go for haha.

It wouldn't be hard at all, merge shards , create new landmasses to put the transferred houses on. This whole farming dead shards crap has killed the game and it's just gotten easier over time.

I for one would quit UO in a heartbeat if they deleted GL's and forced me to merge on some new POS shard. I don't care if there were only 3 other people living on GL's... It's my home and I have ZERO desire to live anywhere else. My history and the history of what I know in game resides on GL's. I give a crap what is on any other shard. I don't know the history of those shards and quite frankly I don't care.

My town and most everyone I care to play with is on GL's. I'm guessing you have never given a crap about RP or RP towns or anything like that.... but to me that makes this game... without it I honestly don't care to play anymore.

I'm willing to bet there are many others on other shards who feel the same way I do.

I think the net difference would be a positive though....sure we would lose some vets that refuse to change or adapt, and that would be disappointing. But if the shard mergers were done with a switch to F2P then the remaining shards would be filled quickly and the net result would be a significant increase to player base. If they could find a way to hire someone with some business sense that would fix the UO store...there could be more money then you could shake a stick at and more players.

And frankly most of the vets would eventually return after they rage quit because let's face it...if you have 5-20 accounts in an imaginary universe you have problems and those problems wont let you just walk away! :)

I agree. Unfortunately this game is now down to the few hard core players, the majority of which are more interested in what they have to the detriment of the future of the game. Its a short sighted attitude born out of greed and pixel crack addiction.

    Welcome to Origin!

My main lands reside on Origin but we've recently created an rp gate that connects our world to the dark lands (Siege) and so I've been away exploring and setting up our Colony. If you ever want to explore the dark realm, you have options :) But for now, Congrats on your new home, and have a great time on Origin,

Atlantic would be awesome to delete. Disburse all those people to the other shards. That would really boost the game overall.

There are FAR better ways to "Fix" this game.

#1 GET Customer Service! Hire GM's and train them to KNOW WTF they are doing. Start dealing consequences. At EM events stop the griefing, In Gen Chat stop the griefing and vulgarity... be there when someone pages for help. TODAY not 3 weeks from now. But within an hour.

#2 Account Management needs to be managed. We need to be able to get our accounts. No I don't mean steal them from other players we gave/sold them to.... I mean lost accounts folk can't recall how to get back or the system refuses to acknowledge... Like my friend whom for a long time couldn't come back because the silly system changed his account from a UO account to a DAoC account... though he never played DAoC. Make it "easier" for the owner to get their account back and keep it paid. Accept Paypal!

#3 Get our **** off the Origin website and onto something managed by Broadsword! Add more things to the store! There are 100's of things we could be/should be selling and don't. These things should be sold where we can buy more than one at a freaking time. Put this perhaps in-game so folk can buy with either gold or cash. Again Accept Paypal...

#4 Hire a Community Leader. Someone who IS a liaison to the public. Not Stratics. A real public Liaison. Preferably someone that can spell. Certainly someone who is communicative.

#5 Give the EM's a bit more time and power. They could use more hours a week to give them more time to bring things to life.

#6 Don't just rely on EM's to bring on the entertainment... honestly there really needs to be cycles of Events. ToT, Halloween stuff, invasions, some sort of Threat that needs our attention more often than once a week. We miss the threat to our well-being. Sure we could go hit a dungeon... but it's just not the same as being victorious over a mighty invasion. Defending our city and our home is something that brings us together...

#7 BRING BACK COMMUNITY! We have fallen to a soloist game... we are no longer an MMO.... we are an MO. There is no multiplayer....

#8 realize that looks DO matter. Keeping the congruity of the game is important as well as maintaining a crisp look. Don't shelf the high Res update... and get someone on the graphical glitches and fix them. Get into UO and seriously look at the world. First off get into the EC and take a walk around Gravewater Lake and tell me that looks "ok". Because it doesn't. It's NOT ok..... but that is the image WE see. And it's one that says we don't really care how the game looks. And know that what is there is EVERYWHERE.... And trust me if you can't see it... or won't see it and clean it up... then truly all hope for UO is lost. Don't give up on the EC. It really CAN work if you put the effort into it. Consider what folk have been saying about some of the mob graphics and a toggle for 2d mobs and paperdolls. And yes maybe a toggle for the old KR graphics as well... Looks ARE important.

Doing some of this would improve the game by leaps and bounds. I know some is being worked on like #2... but the bandages need to come off soon and we need these things done.

    1) Yes. A few weeks ago, a guy told me I should kill myself and my mother in gen chat. I paged immediately. AFAIK, absolutely NOTHING happened to him. AYFKM? For a while, I was farming Blackthorn on my sampire, and someone complained about the people afk farming in both. I responded to her, but an advisor showed up anyway, less than 5 minutes after I proved I was there. He was just doing his job, but come on. (Side note: This was a few days after I was pulled to the afk macroing area for the first time ever, by a GM. I even said "so, uhh, I take a gate now, right?")

    2) I had no problem recovering mine two years ago, but it was easy for me, e-mail tag aside - I gave a detailed summary of when I opened my account, when I closed/reactivated, came back for RTB, etc. Only thing I didn't remember were my security questions, which they provided for me and I answered.

    3) Agreed. The only things I've bought in-store have been: gametime codes, account upgrades (Stygian, High Seas, 7th Character), a few forged metal tools, and a couple xfer tokens.

    4) No real opinion here, you said enough.

5 and 6) Yes. LS does have community hunts Tuesday-Friday, but that depends on the # of people. Sometimes they don't go off (Corgul nights.) If I do go to a dungeon, there's no real danger, just boredom. The Ogre General/Security Consultant invasion back in 2005 was fun, although it annoyed me that people wouldn't let me solo them (I know, I know. It was supposed to be a cooperative event, but even back then, I did like a challenge.) I've spent most of my time in UO lately pvp'ing, but I do like to beat on monsters from time to time, since it's easy & doesn't require much effort.

    7) Yup. Monsters need to be "smarter" - buffing their HP doesn't make them hard, it's just tedious. But there is such a thing as too difficult - last week, an event on LS ended with the boss being a Slasher (which prompted me to come back on my Thrower), but the EM made it a bit too powerful, which he realized (hey, he's new. You gotta learn somehow) - it howled frequently, but also had the ability to teleport you to it. A story arc boss isn't supposed to be easy, but that whole fight was a corpse factory - you couldn't even FIND your corpse in the mess. But I digress - "smarter" monsters is why I (occasionally) enjoy fighting captains. Yes, you can solo those too, but you can't just throw your **** at the wall and hope it sticks.

    8) Ehh. I'm too used to the CC's graphics at this point. Granted, if there was a better looking 3D client, I would, without question, use it. EC has some good features, but it's too ugly for me to use it for more than 30 seconds every couple months.

There are so many things they could make more money out of. None of them they pursue. UO would have massive potential for cash shop. Technically it has one. It is in no real way visible via game. It almost never gets new things added. It is buried in depths of Origin. It sells broken codes. It reads like some play written by a mad god.

Account management of this game has been in horrid condition for several years now. " Working on it" Yeah.Ok. Awesome.

Many of your suggestions( proper customer support, more GMs, better client) are easy to agree with. I think these are also things they'd like to do I'm sure. That is, if they had a real, sizable and competent dev team. You can't maintain much of an MMO with amount of people that fits in one webcam eyeful. With that said.stuff like refusal to utilize cash shop, stubborn, decade old piece of shït account management..these things fall into " WTF HOW CAN THIS GAME STILL BE ALIVE" category though,.

All fabulous ideas...but all cost money and resources.....which is something we will never ever have until the game is busier. Nothing you have recommended resolves the central problem.....too much land...too few people spread out too much! Only getting rid of shards resolves this issue...the only way the game can survive getting rid of shards is to go...F2P! There is just no other way for this to happen!

Reducing shard numbers to 6-10 and changing the business plan will make all shards as populated as atlantic. Then you need less GM's...less EM's more resources to spread to account maintenance, and customer service....etc

Also which ever client is presently used more...adopt it...and dump the other one! Period....stop splitting resources! If you fix the store and go F2P you will make more money...this is proven and documented.... Hell it has even been studied in college business courses.

F2P is pay to win.. and NO ONE wants that crap in UO. No ONE. Period. F2P is NOT the answer and never will be.

Merging shards will cause more to quit than it would bring. Infact if I had to rebuild my community and all... I would quit. If I lost houses and had to rebuild... I'd be done... and I'm not alone. I play for the community.... I love my shard.... and the people who play on it... (most of them)... I have no desire to lose that... infact losing that would pretty much kill the game for me and I know I'm not alone.

Not sure if you are just short sighted...selfish, or you truly just don't have a clue. All F2P does is fill the shards with bodies....and takes the marketplace out of the hands of third party companies ( that already exist) and put it back into the game.

You need gold...you buy it from the UO store...companies right now sell billions in gold every week for real cash. The demand and the market place already exists....broadsword just has to embrace it.

You need resources ...don't have the time to farm them.....UO store could sell them... Everything that you can buy off a third party site UO can and should be selling In OUR store......Pinks ...blues...deco items...Arties...tunics.

There are sooooooooo many ways to generate revenue with a F2P model that will far surpass monthly subscriptions and would revitalize game play across the board.

F2P is not fee to win....F2P is already a huge part of the game....but right now the profits go In to someone else's bank....not broadsword's coffers.

For every 1 to quit with the shard mergers...10 new players would arrive with F2P.

And take your head out of what ever office you have it stuck in......looks don't matter....game play matters. UO hasn't survived for 17+ because it looks good...it survives because of the variability of game play....period.

You can't fix a game listening to people who only care about themselves and their towns and their castles....that is what go us in this mess. You fix a game by biting the bullet and doing things differently!
